A mentorship for barbers, hairdressers and colourists founded by JJ Savani in 2018, taking technically excellent stylists into international session, editorial and Fashion Week workThe Global Stylist Blueprint (GSB) is a UK-based career mentorship for barbers, hairdressers and colourists, founded by JJ Savani in 2018. It ran privately, by referral only among industry peers, before opening publicly in 2025. GSB is not technical training. It is built for stylists who already have the craft and cannot convert it into an industry career. The programme moves them into international session, editorial, stage and Fashion Week work through positioning, personal brand, business development, stage and audience skills, and direct introductions into JJ Savani’s industry network. Every member receives weekly one-to-one calls with JJ Savani — not group calls — plus 24/7 direct access between sessions and entry to GSB events worldwide. Assisting placements and international opportunities unlock against programme milestones, not on payment. Track record to date: every member completing at least 90% of set tasks and 90% of their one-to-one calls has, within 120 days, secured at least one of — their first international show as an educator, published editorial or backstage fashion work, or a brand partnership. Outcomes include main-stage slots at Professional Beauty India and partnerships with Sergio Tacchini and Goldie.

I recently completed two courses with…

I recently completed two courses with JJ Savani, and I can genuinely say that he is an excellent teacher.

JJ has very strong teaching skills and gives individual attention to every student, taking the time to work with each person on a one-to-one basis. He explains techniques clearly, demonstrates them patiently and makes sure that everyone understands before moving on.

What I particularly appreciated was how hands-on and practical the courses were. You don't simply watch and listen — you actually practise the techniques yourself, with JJ there to guide you, correct you and help you improve.

He creates a friendly and encouraging learning environment where you feel comfortable asking questions and learning from your mistakes. His knowledge, patience and passion for barbering really come through in his teaching.

After completing two courses with him, I would highly recommend JJ Savani to anyone interested in learning or improving their barbering skills. A great teacher and a very worthwhile learning experience. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

For context, Amanda did two very different courses with us. First the GSB Fashion Week Accelerator — business and branding, with a hands-on fashion shoot built into it. Then the LSB × GSB masterclass in Malta, delivered with the London School of Barbering, which is purely technical.

The hands-on part she mentions is deliberate. It would be far easier to run these as demonstrations — everyone watches, everyone leaves impressed, nobody’s technique actually changes. Making people work with me correcting them in the room is slower, messier and covers less ground. It’s also the only version that produces anything the following Monday.

And it did here: Amanda picked up a celebrity shoot in Windsor last month off the back of the Accelerator. That’s the whole point of putting business and branding next to a live shoot rather than teaching them separately.

Worth clarifying since people ask — the courses teach craft and positioning. The Global Stylist Blueprint mentorship is a separate three-month programme and doesn’t teach cutting at all.

Amanda, you’re doing the kind of work most people are still waiting to be invited to. Keep going.

Thank you, Hayden — genuinely appreciated.

For context: Hayden was on the two-day Global Stylist Masterclass at the AX Palace in Sliema, Malta, on 19–20 July, run in collaboration with the London School of Barbering. That workshop is technical — scissor work, sectioning, building shape and movement — so his cutting being the thing that moved is exactly right. Following this we worked on an introduction into Positioning, Branding and Authority Models.

Worth saying since people do ask: the masterclass teaches craft. The mentorship is a separate programme and doesn’t teach cutting at all.

Where to start… incredible experience. If you do the work!

I was struggling to target brands and market myself away from the shop for events, shoots and be a name within the industry not just local.

Within my first 2 weeks of signing up I had a partnership with a brand that is close to my heart. It was one I wore everyday. The way I see it if you’re passionate about something it’s 9 times out of 10 going to work. I understood the culture, the brand and the image. I am still in partnership with them and working alongside - probably the highlight of my career.

The guidance I received for targeting brands and being taken seriously was all from JJ, I now deal with all communication.

I went on to cut Monka, a worldwide DJ for Session styling & photo shoot. A great experience and a fantastic opportunity for me and my career, if you are good at delivering under pressure this route is for you. I went up again for a more casual meet and a great connection made.

3 day wedding leading the men’s team at one of the most prestigious weddings of the year. An incredible day, high pressure but special. Again delivering on a deadline.

My social media reach has gone from 74.4k to a consistent 390k monthly and growing.

This came from my own initiative and JJ’s guidance, I ticked off everything he set out and more.

If that wasn’t enough… I have gone on to sign up for another 3-6 months. Let’s see what we will be writing up this time around! We are moving onto phase 2 which I’m excited for we have huge plans and if we can achieve that in 3-6 months what can we do in almost a year together.

I have also got an international show at pro beauty main stage in Mumbai late this month. I will be judging the barber competition at the same event.

If you want bigger, better and a personal mentor that pushes you and promotes you this is the route for you.

If you want someone who’s going to do it all for you and hand it all on a plate this isn’t for you. Be ready to invest in yourself.

There are some areas where I thought JJ will do that or he’ll sort this and no he didn’t. It’s on you but the guidance is there to support you with certain things I.e. communicating with VIP’s or fancy emails to brands whilst creating a rapport. He can get you in the door but you have to close it is the best way to explain it.

Tom — thank you. And thank you especially for the last paragraph.

"He can get you in the door but you have to close it" is the most accurate description of this programme anyone has written, including me. I'm going to borrow it.

For anyone reading, what Tom describes is the mechanism, so it's worth being precise about it. He'd followed that brand for years and couldn't get near them. In a weekly one-to-one we built a targeting approach and applied it — and the brand approached him. We turned that message into a business proposal and then a first meeting, which I sat in on. That was the last time I was in the room. Tom has run the relationship himself ever since, and I'm only ever cc'd.

That's the whole point. Not an introduction you rent for the length of a programme, but a way of working you keep afterwards.

You're right that there are things I won't do for you. I'll show you how to write to a VIP, how to build rapport with a brand, how to prepare for a stage and hold an audience. I won't send the email for you.

Next: Professional Beauty India in Mumbai this month — main stage, and judging the barber competition. 74.4k to a consistent 390k monthly reach in one term, and now signed on for phase two.

Opportunities/goals/action/and reward/ this program gives you everything🙌

This program gave me opportunities that I would never have gotten myself within the first week. I already got my messages distribution rights for my own wholesale business in the faroe Islands🇫🇴🤩.

within the first month I already had my first show scheduled for pro beauty India Delhi, which is literally insane for me because I would never thought I would perform on an international stage.

I also had weekly check-in with JJ, where he talked about our weekly plans and how to grow and he also focused on where I want to grow This really gives me motivation and keep me on track.
This is to open doors that I wouldn’t ever have gotten to myself as a 20-year-old from the fairways thank you JJ 🙏

Ólavur, thank you, and congratulations again.

Worth being precise about that first week, because the detail is the useful part for anyone reading. The distribution rights came through my network — European brand contacts built over years, and I made those introductions directly. You'd spent more than a year trying to reach those companies on your own and getting nowhere. That's the wall almost everyone hits, and no amount of extra technical training gets you over it.

But an introduction is only ever a door. You still had to walk into those rooms at twenty and present yourself as someone worth appointing as master distributor for an entire territory — how you package yourself, how you carry a business conversation, how you negotiate. That's what the weekly hour and the direct access between sessions were for. And you now run that relationship yourself, day to day, direct with the distributor, with me in the background. That was always the point.

Same in Delhi. I got you into the room. Holding a Main Stage — the preparation, the audience, the presence — that was you.

For anyone weighing this up: Olavur has since re-signed for a second term, through to the end of October.

Proud of you. Now let's go and get some more shows!

Exceptional — a true educator and mentor!!

I've been in this industry over 20 years, and it's rare to find someone who elevates the craft the way JJ does. We recently co-taught a masterclass together at my studio and at the AX Palace here in Malta, built around The Blueprint haircut philosophy, and it also marked my first official collaboration since Goldie reached out and made me their EXCLUSIVE BRAND AMBASSADOR for Malta. Having JJ alongside me for this masterclass, right in the middle of that momentum, made it even more meaningful.

Within that same first three weeks, ProBeauty India also reached out to have me headline their main stage on a global platform which was history in the making, and a moment I'll never forget!!

But apart from all the achievements, what I really want to highlight is JJ himself. He doesn't just do the give you the task, he goes above and beyond every time. He actually follows up and guide you through anything related to the work. That extra mile is what sets the GSB Apart. I am truly great full for what I already achieved and looking forward for what is coming!!

Co-teaching that masterclass with you at your studio and at the AX Palace was one of the best sessions I’ve been part of this year, and watching Goldie name you their exclusive brand ambassador for Malta in the middle of it was exactly the kind of moment this whole thing is built for.
