They don’t deserve even one star. Even in emergency pre approvals take more than 4 hours. This insurance is horrible .

The absolute worst!! For every single little thing they need to give you an approval, which would be ok if they did it quickly. But no. They ask for more and more information, and some of their questions are just plain stupid. It feels like they don’t want to cover it and they make it as difficult as possible.
Then you have to call the call center and they keep on “sending the information to the right person in the team” and nothing gets solved. Run and get a proper insurance with literally any other company.

Don’t buy insurance with GIG. They reject every single pre approval and waste time until you give up and pay yourself.
What’s the point in having insurance if you have to self insure yourself.
Their call center people seem to think they know more than the doctors.
Waste of premium paid to these people. They are thieving bandits.

I've been a loyal customer in the insurance industry for over two decades, and my recent experience with GIG (Global Insurance Group) has left me deeply disappointed. Their handling of my car insurance claim was not only unprofessional but also unsupportive to the client, and I feel compelled to share my experience with others.
After a serious car accident involving my vehicle, I expected GIG to honor the terms of my policy, which included a courtesy car provision. However, to my dismay, they refused to provide me with a courtesy car, leaving me without a vehicle for an extended period. This decision forced me to rely on taxis to transport myself and my injured family members.
Using taxis is not only inconvenient but also potentially dangerous, as many taxi drivers in our region do not prioritize passenger safety. My partner, who was injured in the accident, had to endure uncomfortable and unsafe rides as we moved about the city. I watched in agony as she winced with every sudden stop and jerk, all while GIG remained indifferent to our plight.
I had paid for a fully comprehensive insurance policy, specifically including a courtesy car to avoid such a situation. GIG's failure to provide the promised service has had real and painful consequences in our lives, which they seem utterly unconcerned about.
Furthermore, GIG's approach to handling the claim itself is perplexing. I pay a premium to ensure my car is adequately covered in case of an accident. However, since the accident occurred, they've talked about sending me an "offer letter" instead of promptly fulfilling their obligation to pay out the insured amount. This behavior is akin to life insurance providers attempting to reduce payouts after a death, which is both unethical and unacceptable.
I want to emphasize that I paid a premium based on the coverage I expected, and GIG should honor that commitment without trying to pay me less than I am entitled to. The fact that my car is now destroyed only reinforces the need for them to fulfill their end of the insurance agreement.
It's disheartening to note that such practices seem to be commonplace with GIG in this region. In other countries, this kind of behavior by insurance companies would not be tolerated. It's high time that the local insurance authorities and the central bank take notice of how insurance companies like GIG are treating their clients. They are not only breaching contracts but also potentially breaking the law by not honoring the agreed-upon damages set by the premium level.
In conclusion, my experience with GIG Car Insurance has been nothing short of a nightmare. Their refusal to provide a courtesy car and their reluctance to fulfill their insurance obligation have caused us pain and inconvenience during an already challenging time. I strongly advise potential customers to think twice before choosing GIG as their insurance provider.

Been calling many times company didn't transfer my travel insurance details to the MOI and I can't extend my Qatar visa on arrival. Today, the staff can't even find my policy, keep getting disconnected during phone calls. Avoid this provider at all costs, they are worse than useless.
update 13/10/2025: The company finally contacted me after 2 years. I'll email them the details but I don't hold much hope.
update 29/10/2025: Got an email from the company saying the complaint is closed. Took 2 years for them to look at my complaint then they spent 2 weeks investigating and decided they did nothing wrong. Their email is as follows:
"Please be advised that Our respective team has confirmed that no official online compliance submission was received regarding this matter.
Furthermore, based on the records of your online policy purchase, the transaction was completed on October 18, 2023, at 5:02:08 PM (UAE time) and was updated in the MOPH database approximately 9 minutes later (Qatar time), as reflected in the portal records.
Disclaimer: This ticket will automatically change the status from “Open” to “Closed" upon receipt of our response, however, if you believe that issue is still unresolved, please notify us by responding to this email or by calling our customer support number. We will be happy to help."

One of the worst insurance I have ever been in in the UAE. They will literally challenge every single test that your doctors will ask you to do. It is a nightmare to deal with them and they always make you feel like you are asking those tests for your pleasure and not because your doctor have asked for them.

Having purchased travel insurance for a trip to Dubia, we unfortunately had to make a claim. It was dealt with very fast without any undue challenge. Payment was settled quickly and efficiently. I would 100% use this company again. They were also cheaper to buy from than two other competitors I looked at. Very happy.

I am deeply disappointed by the horrendous service of GIG insurance company. My encounter with their claims department has been a complete nightmare. Despite the hospital's admission of a mistake and prompt submission of an amended report, my claim was unfairly rejected. I provided the corrected medical report to rectify the issue, clearly indicating the error in timing, but GIG's response has been shockingly inadequate. They have repeatedly rejected my claim without valid justification and disregarded the amended report.
Their claim evaluation time of 4 hours is an absolute joke. It has been nearly two weeks with minimal communication and progress, showcasing their lack of concern for customer service. Despite diligently providing required documents and clarifications, they have been indifferent towards the amended report's crucial details which is exasperating. They have wasted my time, caused undue frustration, and ignored my urgent situation as a student needing to return to the UK for studies.
Moreover, the emails and updates from GIG's medical board are shockingly unprofessional and disrespectful. Their tone of sarcasm, pettiness, and rudeness is disheartening and undermines their supposed professionalism. The condescending language used in their correspondence demonstrates a lack of empathy and understanding towards policyholders. This inappropriate behaviour only worsens the distressing experience, eroding my trust in GIG's ability to offer competent customer service.
I strongly advise everyone to stay away from GIG. Their lack of professionalism, communication, and fair treatment of customers is beyond disappointing. This experience has been a nightmare, and I will be sharing my terrible experience with everyone I know to prevent them from going through the same ordeal.

The WORST insurance ever. I took a very good cover (Gold one) and they always find a way to not cover me for my medical appointments. I’m 6 months pregnant and I have paid 90% of my appointments so far! It’s a shame !!!!! run away

I bought third party car insurace with GIG for a car I was buying, they accepted my money and sent me a copy of the policy but didn't upload this policy to the RTA system. When the seller and I attempted to transfer the car into my name, we couldn't because according to their system, I didn't have insurance. It was after office hours, so I needed to buy another insurance policy from the vendor in the vehicle transfer office.
I complained to GIG and requested a refund on this policy I can't use, but they won't answer my emails.

I bought their travel insurance and had a horrible experience. Stay away if you are looking for a professional company. They act in bad faith. Purchase Allianz Travel Insurance instead.

Terrible service. Feels like a scam. They failed to list items and incorrectly listed prices of other items, even though I had provided receipts. I am still waiting for them to rectify. It has been going on for 5months now and still no sign of any amendment or anyone responding to my numerous emails and phone calls. Have totally lost faith in their service and I will absolutely be cancelling my policy.

After years of making premium payments for my Villa home insurance, I have been totally let down by GIG Gulf Home insurance team. A major structural repair work was required due to water leak in the villa. When I lodged the claim, they swiftly turned around quoting some fine print of the policy, and refused to honor any part of the claim. Total waste of money for years paying premium for nothing.

Absolute rip off, useless and a shame on the industry. Repeated rejections to my ( previously approved) and was provided on regular monthly basis. Dental cover with far more rejected than accepted claims. Slow response to requests. Every little medical need is under" company pre- approval".
Very limited list of " good" hospitals, clinics, etc...
In short, I strongly advise against singing in with AXA ( now GIG. KEEP AWAY and you will thank me later.
BTW, you can cancel your policy with a 30 days written notice BUT " no refund of premium is given whatsoever". What a joke!

I had an insurance policy with AXA. They sold their operations to GIG-Gulf and, over the past year, they have been nothing but trouble. They have repeatedly rejected doctors' submissions to have simple tests done. This is not an insurance company but a scheme to take your premiums and offer no insurance in return. I will not renew my policy.
