Do not trust getsmarter courses run by Cape Town university. i have had endless connectivity issues loading up my identity, as well as not able to navigate the online site and i am in my second week of LSE Accounting with London School of Business. The online call centre has no clue how to offer the services, to correct the connectivity issues the Getsmarter App is experiencing.
Get Smarter course is charged upfront yet leading up to the start of course, they have no clue, and request payment endlessly by sending out emails.

i am disappointed that i which i normally review before, have not read up on their reviews where they not customer driven yet they say they are world class!. the customer care team is not giving feedback on why online platform is experiencing a problem, they just messaging to say do not hesitate to let us know

I took Communicating for Influence and Impact course from University of Cambridge. It was written that there will be certification, but there is no. They don't respond to my mails or questions. It is a SCAM!

My 3000 euro course started yesterday and I have stuck on an endless loop of ID verification that nobody at Getsmarter seems to care to help with

My experience with the platform and the training delivery team has been positive. The course includes face time with genuine Oxford tutors, the certificate of completion is granted upon successful completion (grades must be over a certain threshold). Students receive access to a few helpful resources and are added to the Oxford Executive Online Education group and career network.

I didn't have the chance to see the course content, because I was never admitted into class.

My sponsor company who agreed to support my training regardless of its high cost, asked for a simple Vendor Form to be filled up and signed by the service provider (the content of which is simple bank account details) as a formality in order to assess its legitimacy. Since we have never worked with them before. After waiting for 4 weeks GetSmarter never returned the signed document even with many reminders and dozens of phone call to customer service. Which brought us to indeed think that something was not OK about the vendor.

I can't comment on the course content that I haven't seen, but I can comment on the impression the customer service gave us. We had a bad feeling that something was not 100% transparent, and we wasted way too much time waiting. Unfortunately.

Therefore I wouldn't recommend to someone who requires clear and transparent customer service and/or who has deadlines to respect.

I got an email several months ago, thanking me for signing up. I never signed up for anything. I’ve never heard of this place before that email. I ignored it like I do every other scam email. Today, I get an email saying a payment deadline is coming up. I have never purchased anything from these people and have never signed up for anything. Clearly a scam.

Get Smarter is a complete scam. The courses included very limited instruction. I did pass my Executive Administration Course will a good score, however I had to rely on YouTube Tutorials for how to do the various assignments. You're better off going with another program. To top it off I never received my certificate of completion. I contacted Get Smarter for months after I completed the course and always got some scripted response that its will be another 8 weeks. Then another 10 weeks until I will receive it. It never arrived. I finally requested my money back to which I received no response. When I started to take a deep dive into the reviews for Get Smarter it seems many people feel scammed, never receiving their certificates. I paid almost a thousand dollars for this course, which is a lot of money for me being a single mom. I had hoped it would help me obtain better employment. I have nothing to show for my time and money spent on this course. Buyer Beware if you choose to use this institution.

I completed a course in Aug 2023 and haven't received a certificate. Two months ago I contacted Support to find out what's going on as I've already left the company that paid for the course, not a single response. It's shocking that people pay R14k+ per course to improve their careers and don't even receive their certificates. Looking at other reviews on Google, Trustpilot, and Hellopeter, and how they don't even respond it seems this company is on a downward spiral.

Low level of support in C-level courses. Answers at the level "When will module A be assessed?" in the form “You can find your grades in this section.” The question was “When”, not “Where to find”, thank you.

There is also an incomprehensible and non-transparent assessment system, which does not allow you to correct the approach to completing tasks in the following modules. Question “What did I do right and wrong when doing this exercise?” boils down to the answers “Try to reflect more deeply.” Thanks, I did this before submitting the assignment.

For courses costing 2000-3000 euros, a completely different approach to working with students is expected. You can post materials on any platform, why does it cost other money?

By the way, recording a video of a speaker with a built-in camera and sound from a microphone built into a laptop in 2024 is somehow completely beyond the bounds.

I cancelled my registration within a couple of hours of enrolling in the Oxford Women in Leadership Program.

It took 3 attempts to obtain a cancellation form.

The cancellation form required my personal bank account details before it could be submitted. However, I paid by credit card and there was no option to request refund to the original method of payment.

I called the enrolment team and was told to just enter 1234 in the required fields!

I was then advised that it takes 10 working days to PROCESS a cancellation request. I contacted my credit card company with a link to these reviews.

Any business that is reluctant to refund customers immediately must be avoided. Putting up obstacles to delay claiming a refund is despicable.

I enrolled in the Oxford AI online course and paid over 2000 euros, the level of support I received from Get Smarter was extremely low: we were not informed about the important dates and online meetings and for this reason, we missed important course content, the new modules were opened with a delay and only I requested it online. By the end of the course, I did not know the name of my success advisor because he never contacted me.
Get smarter gives literally no support.
And now we are not able get the certificates because get smarter again has some “technical problems”.
This is so harmful for the reputation of Oxford University.

I enrolled in a course with GetSmarter, hoping to enhance my skills and further my career. While the course content itself was decent, the lack of support and assistance from the GetSmarter team has been appalling.

It's been six months since the course ended, and I'm still grappling with an unresolved issue regarding my certificate. Despite multiple attempts to address the problem, I've received nothing but empty promises and delays.

Their latest response acknowledges the problem, but it's just more of the same lip service. While they claim to be taking action, it's clear that their efforts are lacking.

I understand that mistakes happen, but the sheer incompetence and disregard for customer satisfaction displayed by GetSmarter are unacceptable.

If you're considering furthering your education, I strongly advise looking elsewhere. YouTube tutorials would offer better support than what GetSmarter has provided me.

Two of my daughters completed their studies in November 2023. Despite phone calls, emails, and chatting on various platforms we are unable to get the certificates. It is so heartbreaking one applies for a job and needs the certificate but the institute turns a deaf ear.
They were so very good at collecting monthly payments BUT all those people no longer respond to desperate pleas for the certificates to be issued.

I agree with these comments as well.
I just completed the AI course under MIT. However, I found the experience very impersonal. The only interaction is through the discussions in each module, but there are hundreds of people in the course, so the quality gets diluted. You do not get grades on your assignment until after the next assignment is due. I found the content from videos with the MIT professors valuable, but several of the readings are outdated. Some are from 2022 and not very relevant already in the AI space. The assignments are decent quality in that they tie them to an actual project for your organization, so you can apply those learnings or create a strategy for a new idea.

I do not like the platform and the UX/UI, and beware before signing up. I registered for two courses at the same time as this one to be able to map out my schedule, and I wish I would've waited until going through this course. I feel the platform dilutes the MIT brand and other top universities. You do not get a syllabus, so you can't see the content topics within each module until it opens up each week. As a former educator at a top institution myself, I find this odd.

I am experiencing an end of life family emergency and requested to cancel the two courses that I haven't taken, and they said they could not refund me, but only postpone, even though I am well within the cancellation timeframe according to their terms and conditions. Very greedy and unethical. They are in South Africa time zone, so the turn around time for responses is slow, and it feels impersonal and robotic. I think they are using AI to generate responses ;-)
I am now taking different AI courses through the University of Michigan via Coursera since I get discounts as an alumni and find the quality and value much greater along with the UX. Check out the IBM AI certificate.

Terrible. Enrolled in Oxford University AI course and assumed the technology would be good. They use GetSmarter and it is very poor. Bad layout and navigation means it is unclear what you are supposed to do, easy to miss sessions. Spend more time trying to work out how to use it than doing the actual course. Wish I had read these reviews before spending my money.

Still waiting for a certificate a year later! Have even given them an option to send a softcopy but they ignored it. Have been claiming to dispatch my certificate since May 2023!

100% scam..:.the course is joke. Is only videos from teacher of university but you will never get class for real teacher. They use some (tutor that demanding complex document) refund is lie. Don’t wait time and energy. How is possible that they make business in USA.

One of the worst platforms for online courses - keep AWAY! I signed up for the NUS UX Design course in Sep 2023. The course was horrible - with poor quality lectures, no substance whatsoever and no content on Figma, yet 70% of the coursework was on Figma. Getsmarter also managed to mess up the assignment submission dates. Anyway, I did it and passed. Course ended on Nov 2023. No certificates have been provided till date, today is 1 Feb 2024. TWO MONTHS and no certificates yet. I chased them in early January, they said final results (what final results!? It was a pass/fail course, no grades) were released on 12 Jan and I will have my certificate one week after that. Nothing. I chased again, they said final results will be released on 24 Jan, and certificate one week after that. Nothing. Today they said final results released 31 Jan, certificates one week after that. Same thing every week. I paid $900 for this! NUS are a terrible University with rubbish lecturers and Getsmarter are crooks. Disgrace for Edx and 2U. I am glad they are going bankrupt. Corrupt criminals.

In line with the rest of the reviews on this page, I have had countless issues with GetSmarter. It’s been 3 months since I completed my course and still no certificate. I contact them and get a shoddy excuse (“an error with the system” or “the time of year”). I’ve called to complain and they takes weeks to respond - when they do respond, more empty apologies and no real information.

It’s a shame because the course content itself provided by the University was fantastic. I’ll be contacting them and advising that they change providers.

My advice would be to avoid any course provided by GetSmarter.
