Do not use Gerson Relocation. Terrible service and non-transparent insurance
We enlisted the services of Gerson Relocation in The Netherlands to move our household belongings from our home in Amsterdam to the USA. We contracted damage insurance through their recommended insurance coverage. They even recommended that we pay $1,500 for replacement value insurance on specific (high value) itemized belongings, which we did. During the move, we experienced damage losses worth EUR 7,000. The itemized belongings were insured for "replacement value". When we filed the claim with the required forms and photos, they responded after two months that since the household products were over 7-years old they had no insurable value. They called it the "time-value" damage valuation. When we contracted the insurance through Gerson Relocation, they never explained this. We could not find references to the "time-value" valuation in the terms of insurance, so if it was in there, it was not noticeable. We believe this to be non-transparent and unfair to clients paying for services in good faith. We must have had over five telephone conversations with the Amsterdam staff at Gerson Relocation about the scope of the insurance coversage and not once did they identify "time-value" valuation. Then, they went silent after instructing us to deal directly with the insurance company which was in Germany. We highly recommend avoid engaging with Gerson Relocation NL for your moving services.
