I live in an HOA where you're not allowed to have a compost pile in your backyard. But I've always composted all my kitchen scraps. This is perfect. It sits nicely in my kitchen where it is out of the way. It does not stink at all. It's efficient in how it composts materials. Word to the wise, however. You must cut your kitchen waste small. Banana peels left whole will turn into shoe leather. But if you cut them in 1-in strips they compost beautifully. We are getting about 5 quarts of compost a month. We bury it in our flower beds and our flowers are beautiful. Added benefit, it's a warm surface that my cats love to sit on.

As described by other customers, this composter is great considering quietness, capacity, and appearance. I will add that Geme customer service is also responsive and helpful. Our unit had an issue as it turns out and intermittently tripped our kitchen circuit breaker. Geme support helped us troubleshoot and ultimately decided to give us a replacement. Returning via ground shipping was cost free and easy. So far, no problems with the new unit and we’re pleased with its trouble-free performance.
I especially love this device because it saves me time that was once used (wasted) spent chopping up kitchen scraps, bringing out to a garden composter, regularly rotating the composter, etc. Now, we never have to leave the kitchen because this machine does everything that the old composting system did, only better!. It’s produces odor-free quality compost with no human labor required and only needs emptying maybe once in three or four months. It quickly digests and dehydrates everything - just open the lid and drop the scraps in, it does the rest.
Yes, it costs a bit - but what quality appliance doesn’t? In my view, this is a life enhancer for both home owner and the environment. Consider as a perfect gift for newly weds or anyone setting up a new home. They, and their flower beds, will appreciate it for years to come.

I had been searching for years for something that I could compost meat with. I use to do bokashi but the buckets got so gross overtime. I couldn't keep it outside because in the summers it would get so hot it would kill the bokashi. I read up on the new electric composters that were coming on the market but hated the fact they essentially cooked and sterilized the final product. Not very good to put into a garden that you are trying to develop the microbes in the soil. Then I found this little gem. This composter works on the same principals as bokashi but you can keep it in the house. It smells really sweet but only when you open the inner lid. I can't smell a thing even walking past it. The first day I put 4 lbs of assorted left overs in it like chicken, salami, rice, tortillas and an old salad I forgot about ??. It all disappeared into the compost by the end of the day. This thing is outstanding. I'm so stoked they finally came out with something like this on the market. I did read post where people said they had mold or dirt when they opened the package and unloaded the composter. It happened to me too but it was because the little bag of Kobalt opened. Its just the starter that leaked all over but it didn't hurt the composter at all. A quick wipe down and all was well. This thing is seriously life changing. If you are on the fence about it just do it. You won't regret it
