I’ve learned so much from James’ Food Film School. One of the biggest things for me was learning how important it is to properly plan a video before you even start filming, and James breaks down exactly how to do that.

The transitions, filming techniques and editing tips have been incredibly useful, but another big takeaway was understanding just how crucial audio is when it comes to making great food videos.

What really makes the course stand out though is James himself. He genuinely puts time into helping everyone, personally breaking down our videos and giving detailed feedback on what’s working, what needs to change, and how we can improve.

I can already see a big difference in the way I approach making my videos. Definitely worth it if you’re serious about taking your food content to the next level.

I followed James for quite a while before joining Food Film School.

I remember seeing his videos and thinking: How the hell does he do this? 😂 If I could learn even some of that, my own food videos could become so much better.

I was actually unsure about buying the course at first because there were not many reviews at the time. That is also one of the reasons I wanted to leave this review now.

I bought the original course in March and I can honestly say it has been a great investment for me.

But I want to be clear about something: this is not a magic shortcut.

You don’t watch the lessons and suddenly make perfect videos. James teaches you what to look for: lighting, movement, transitions, storytelling, food presentation, sound and all the small details, and then you have to practice.

And for me, that is actually one of the best things about it.

The course has forced me to look much deeper into filmmaking. And somehow I am also becoming a better cook because of it. James is not only a very talented filmmaker, he is an incredible chef too, and you can learn a lot from the way he thinks about food.

What I also really appreciate is that he keeps learning too. His own videos keep getting better, he tests new techniques and shares what he learns. That makes me want to get better too.

In my own experience, James really takes the time to look at the work you make and gives honest feedback instead of just saying “looks great”. Sometimes that feedback hurts a little 😂 but it makes the next video better.

If you want a course that does all the work for you, this isn’t it.

If you want to actually learn how to make better food videos and you’re willing to practice, I think it’s a fantastic investment.

I still have a lot to learn, but I can already look back at my older videos and see how much has changed.

I joined way back when James first released Food Film School around 1 year ago.

And dozens of videos later, I'm now at 191k!

James breaks it down really well in the videos and is super supportive during the whole process when it comes to creating your first couple videos.

If you're a food/cooking creator looking to get more exposure and traffic for your brand/business, this is the right program for you

If you have seen James’ videos on IG you might have been like me and definitely thought you could never make anything like that. But he made a course to teach you how and the course is so detailed and walks you through, step by step in such a simple to follow way. How to plan the video and the shots, lighting, filming (all on an iPhone, no fancy camera), editing, etc. It is broken down in such a way that anyone can learn how to make incredible videos. You could honestly even apply these techniques to other types of content as well. I highly recommend this school to a content creator who wants visually incredible content to attract attention, stop the scroll and gain followers and engagement. It is worth every penny you invest as your content will stand out when you do the lessons, apply what you learned, join the community and get feedback on your videos before posting them, etc. It’s a school and coaching all in one! I don’t know anyone else offering this much value for the price, it’s incredible. Take the leap, sign up, and may your content never be dull again ;)

I could go on for days about how much I’ve learned from James. His teaching style is incredibly detailed, creative, and easy to follow. He walks you through every step of the process, is always attentive to questions, and is genuinely encouraging throughout the learning experience.
I still have so much to learn, but the videos I’ve created using the techniques James has taught me have already outperformed any of my previous content, and they’re continuing to grow.
If you’re on the fence, just take the leap. Don’t waste another minute wondering if it’s worth it. This has been one of the best investments I’ve made.
For perspective, I’m just a home cook with very basic Instagram and TikTok editing skills… and I mean very basic. If I can learn this, anyone can.
