Do not buy a house from Fletcher Homes.
Do not buy a house from Fletcher Homes.
I have lived on The Hawthorn estate in Ellesmere for the past five years, and it has been nothing short of a nightmare. The standard of construction is shockingly poor and continues to cause problems to this day.
We have experienced concrete blowouts, ill-fitting carpets, doors that do not close properly, leaking windows, and gardens that were laid directly on top of rubble. The list goes on. These are not minor snagging issues — they are serious examples of careless, substandard building work.
Drainage across the estate is completely inadequate. The original planning indicated that private roads would be finished in permeable herringbone block paving to assist with drainage. Instead, they were covered in tarmac, leaving water to pool and sit. As a result, gardens regularly flood and large areas remain waterlogged.
To make matters worse, I have just found out Fletcher Homes are now seeking to build even more houses adjacent to the estate — on land known to be floodplain — despite not having properly finished or resolved the ongoing issues at The Hawthorn. It is unacceptable.
Buyers should think very carefully before committing to a property built by this developer. My experience has been deeply frustrating, costly, and ongoing.
