An asian man named Alan rents rooms at this and other properties, he is a con artist, there is no room to rent, it does not exist, he will show you a room that is still occupied and tell you the tenant is moving out in two weeks, even though the ad says "available now", so you give him a deposit and wait but the tenant never moves out, after 14 days that cost me $1000, (had to use motels) the explanation for this scumbag not leaving is, "He has a lot of stuff" and "He has a bad back". And then I discover that the house is due for demolition in 3 months. When you realise that these two low lifes are scamming you, Alan just laughs and suggests that you live in your car in the supermarket carpark. I eventually got my deposit back after arguing with this POS, he actually tried to keep it with the old, "well it's going to cost me to look for someone else now that you have changed your mind!" Routine. Do not rent anything from this sociopath criminal. Do not give it money. Do not use Flatmates.com.au, this is the 3rd scumbag landlord in a row that has tried to scam me, the first was a meth house, the second was a born again Christian who stole $150 from me and stalked me for 3 months and now this sick con artist.
I would rather be homeless than use this website.

nitially found Flatmates to be a useful and well-functioning platform, and for a time it served its purpose effectively. However, my recent experience has been extremely disappointing.

There appears to be little to no meaningful customer support when issues arise. Decisions are made quickly and without proper consideration of the individual circumstances. In my case, my account was blocked without adequate explanation, and even after providing supporting documentation, there was no genuine effort to review or resolve the situation.

The process felt one-sided, with no clear avenue for fair appeal or discussion. It gives the impression that user concerns are not prioritised once a decision has been made.

Overall, while the platform works initially, the lack of support and transparency when problems occur is a significant concern.

I've worked with flatmates for many years on and off. I find them very good to work with. It's a great company. Can't do too much about tenants sometimes.

They do not do proper checks on landlords, we have had 2 issues already - have a look at their FB page and you will see no reviews and hardly any comments on posts as they remove (hide) them all if they don't like them - this says a lot about the business - I guess they are only out to make money and not looking out for the vulnerable people in our housing crisis - very sad to see people taken advantage of like this!

Flatmates.com.au company is a very unprofessional company.

They are extremely scammers.
They get landlords to pay the fee to open an acc to look for tenants and after payments made, they block peoples accounts based on falls accusation and they never refund peoples money paid on the account.

They are also very abusers and stalkers and harassers.

They themselves scams people by creating accounts to scam people and blames it on others.

This company website is extrey unprofessional and people shouldn’t use this channel.

FM is not a legit realestate or property agent by Australian law.
FM and it’s property contracts are also n out legit by the Australian law. So if a tenant and landlord has a contract, will still give no rights whatsoever to both parties. The law will just use common sense and based actual realestate and property laws to give rights to both parties. So you see FM contract and website is all false and not legit.
They just manipulate people to make sales and showing people that they are serious but in reality they are a crook website and their contracts and laws are not legit by the Australian law.

Claiming someone’s name as a scammer and announcing someone’s name that is a scammer based on false accusations and no legal evidence is an extreme defamation of character.

The only thing is left for a tenant is to action a legal case with federal police case against FM and take FM to higher court for abusing, scamming, slandering, and harassing accounts based on false accusations.

They also expect tenants to accomodate every person even if the routine and conditions doesn’t match. If you don’t accomodate someone and they complain about a landlord, FM considers the landlord a scammer and racist and more examples. They literally abuse and slander someone based on falls accusations.

FM is a very professional scammer, slanderer, abuser, manipulator, and they mostly manipulate the foreigners.
Local Australians as a landlord or tenants are all aware of the FM company’s manipulation, abusive, and scamming process.

Far too many landlords on this site who don’t understand the law. Had one landlord attempt to increase my rent twice within a 6 month period and another landlord throw out my belongings. Never again.

Stupid people ask people to proof their own house . No one said anything wrong which is rediculous? Wasting time and trouble they should compensate me for that !

Terrible experience with this company they don’t have anything in place to scan potential flat mates. Be wary.

I have found people on this app but pretty sure it uses AI to make fake profiles. Seen my daughter and a past person staying with us no longer in the country looking for places. Unfortunate as it’s easy to use.

First of all, let’s talk about the agents—oh, what a delightful bunch of "professionals" they are. I’m sure they went to scamming school because they’ve mastered the art of making you think you’ve found a great property... only to let you know once you’re already there that it’s “no longer available” (that’s after you’ve spent half an hour navigating traffic, by the way) Jessica’s properties.But it doesn’t end there—oh no.
I was also treated to a delightful experience of being sent to a property, only to be told to wait outside for 30 MINUTES for someone to show up. Spoiler alert: nobody ever did. Is this some kind of "waiting for Godot" style performance art? Because it sure felt like it.
And don’t get me started on the "agents" who give you fake numbers to call. When you actually manage to get someone on the line, they don’t help you—they verbally abuse you. Swearing at you, telling you leave them alone, that they’re busy and you should ‘F off’ and ‘I’m going to find you’ Oh, the joy of being threatened over the phone by someone whose entire job seems to be ruining your life. I’ve visited two properties, and both were scams. Two! At this point, I’m starting to think this website is just a multi-level marketing scheme for scam artists. If you're looking for a website that’s going to waste your time, lie to you, and make you question your own life choices, then by all means, go ahead and try this one. But if you're looking for anything resembling honesty or safety, maybe try a local library or a magic 8-ball instead. Either of those would probably be more reliable.
Bottom line: do not use this website. It’s a scam. It’s dangerous. It’s a waste of time. You’ve been warned.

I have paid for advertising 3 times and didn’t find a suitable flatmate. I had hardly any interest and the people who did either didn’t read the advert correctly or what they were seeing was different. Waste of money.

I'm furious, why can't I access my account. I'm receiving emails with potential tenants, but I can't access my account. Firstly, my husband's account was listed, I deleted it & typed in my email address, the wrong password appeared (not mine or my husband's). I applied to change it; it wasn't accepted when I logged in. I replied to your question that Yes I wanted to be active, even though I hadn't accessed my account as I was in hospital. What's going on Your website says I've made too many log in attempts, whose fault is that? Where is my profile, where are my photos of my available suite. I respectfully request that you re-instate my profile. Yes you can do it, check in your deleted folder. I can't do it as I don't have the information any more. I didn't give you permissiosn to delete my profile. why am I receiving potentional flatmates if my profile has been deleted. There is a serious glitch in your system. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME LIKE I DID! I signed up recently where my listing went into pending for ages. As soon as I uploaded a photo after it was accepted, I was banned. I've sent many emails to FM customer service for days without a replies! No wonder no one uses this website where other reports of spam and them selling your data. IT'S NOT SAFE TO USE!

Terrible customer service! Paid for upgrade and they left my ad on pending for a day but then refused to ad a day to my account. Will wasn't helpful at all! Never again.

Okay so I think the premise of the app is great ie. finding a flatmate/your future accommodation... but execution wise not so much. If you find a flat/house you like and therefore reach out to the person advertising it, unless you have the paid version, it won't send your message for 14 days... in a nutshell, that property will very very likely be gone before your message even goes through. This drove me up the wall but, as I was desperately trying to find a place, I had to give in and just pay and, lo and behold, I did end up finding place for the short term. So, yes, this app definitely works IF you're paying but I just feel like it's wrong when people using the app are often pretty desperate to find somewhere to live. Leave it free and chuck in some ads instead

This used to be a good website to find a flatmate 5-10 years ago. There's no point to pay for it anymore as they don't drive any incremental leads or value. Free version is more than enough as most people search on facebook marketplace. If you really want to try it, try flatmatefinders instead who offers refunds in the first 14 days. These guys don't as they're only after taking your money and don't offer anything in return. Kinda like a scam really, who don't deliver the service promised.

Omg where do i start 🫣 evry sleaze bag , weirdo ive evr rented a room off has been frm this site , the latest f*#,k w*it harressed me th moment i moved in , wld not leave me alone procedded 2 try & control me using sexual harressment then making up b.s stories evy 5 mins 2 seek empathy then wen tht didnt work strtd resorting 2 slamming doors & becoming argumentative for intimidation i ended up applying for a personal & safety protection order 2 keep him away frm me , wen he realised i cldnt b manipulated & over powerd he threatned me 2 leave even though i had signd th so called flatmates template which turns out literally leavs th tennent wit 0 rights im abt to become homeless tnks alot flatmate.com yr company sux u shld b allowing reviews 2b viewed bc how many victims wil end up hvn 2 go thru wht i went thru th i *d*iot is already readvertising th last 2 women b4 me left according to him bc they wer rude to him but goin on hpw he treated me frm strt 2 finish i can see why if anyone reads this & wnts his details let me knw bc this pos needs 2b exposed

I've used this site numerous times to search for tennants for my property. The app is not very used friendly and does not notify you when you receive a message.

It's generally clunky and not very responsive.

if your looking to rent your space, i would recommend flat mate finders instead.

ignored request to ban dangerous household listing, didnt ask for them to solve dispute only to take listing for this renter down, no response.
