I am writing to thank Financial Affairs for a job well done
I am writing to thank Financial Affairs, especially Harley Clarke and his Team for giving me great
service and assistance with a problem that has been drawn out nine months this year.
When I retired over 6 years ago I had a number of pension funds with various providers, which I
decided to transfer all but one of the funds into a Main Pension Fund, leaving this Other Fund to
grow by itself over a period of time.
In early 2023 unfortunately our son aged 45 years died during the pandemic. At the beginning of
2024 we decided to draw down the cost of a memorial stone for his grave from this Other Fund,
having given the ground time to settle to take a stone.
This Other Fund however seemed to be slightly obstructive, I contacted them on number of
occasions, and had to wait each time for fourteen days minimum to get a response to simple
requests for a statement of the fund balance. Over a period of six months I received three such
statements. Then it came to arranging a draw down of some of the funds, at which stage I hit a
‘brick wall’.
At this stage we discussed our problem with Harley Clarke in order to get a result to what had
turned into ‘our quest’, and agreed to transfer the Other Fund into the Main Fund, and draw down
funds from the Main Fund. Thankfully Harley Clarke took the matter on, and managed to get the
necessary forms and then had to chase the Other Fund for them to action the submitted forms as per
my instructions.
Thankfully today the draw down has arrived at the beginning of October, and we can only express
our sincere thanks to Harley Clarks and the Team for all their endeavours on our behalf.

Brilliant advice from a true expert
I conside myself to be reasonable financially literate, but since "pension freedoms" in 2015, HMRCs rules around pensions are well beyond my comprehension. I needed some good advice before starting to draw down and fortunately was put in touch with Matthew at Financial Affairs. He was brilliant, checked the rules, did calcualations and explained clearly where my position lies. My anxiety levels are much reduced thanks to his help!
