What website says, (which turns out to be a self-serving policy on their part):
"Backed by the generosity of our ironclad 6-month, 100% money back guarantee, we hope you’ll join us today and experience the FPA difference for yourself!"
There is no asterisk after, or any indicator that shows there are conditions to the refund. It is straight up false advertisement. It literally says, "ironclad 6-month, 100% money back guarantee." Any reputable company would not word it like this if there were conditions. If there are conditions, they put an asterisk, or symbol after, which indicates to look at the foot notes. The foot notes would indicate what the conditions are.
Well, I went as far as checking the t&c's and they sure have their refund policy buried, I hadn't yet found it. However, what I did find is this:
"Fiction Profits Academy® is a privately-owned for profit company that provides general education, and this Website is for general education and informational purposes only."
So let me explain the legal definition of "general education," it means, instruction that presents forms of expression, fields of knowledge, and methods of inquiry fundamental to intellectual growth and to a mature understanding of the world and the human condition, AS DISTINGUISHED FROM "specialized education," which prepares individuals for particular occupations or specific professional responsibilities. (See the difference, here.)
-The AI Part: Generating sentences and paragraphs.
-The "General Ed" Part: Developing your own unique voice. They attempt to teach you how to recognize when AI sounds too "robotic," and how to refine the text, so it has the style and flow of a human author.
They don't have to provide any real mentoring, or anything else they promise. They want to charge you $10k for free information. Their t&cs are pretty insane and it is clear this is a money making gimmick. They're teaching people how to use AI to write a book, which you can learn for free. Also, please do your research on using AI to write a book. No one can write a best seller soley with AI. Maybe a published author that just needs a little help from AI, and they don't need to pay this business to type in a few AI promts. "But they teach you how to write a book in just one week!" That published author couldn't even do it in a week.
Its just not the same as if a person wrote it. A big one is, no emotions in the writing. If you're writing fiction, you want emotions in it, how can you set the tone appropriately without. If you're not a genuine writer, I would not risk this. At the most, a gifted writer would use AI to generate ideas, help set the tone, etc, then they write most of the story on their own. And you can do that all on your own, for free, and not be ripped off. And it's free to try your luck with a pure AI book and publish via Amazon. And that way you can see how it goes. For free.
Oh, and btw, one of their REQUIREMENTS is you publish an AI book to Amazon. I wonder WHO profits off the sales, if any, because realistically, it probably will not sell well. I'm sure they'll use your failed AI book as a tool to make you think you're just not good enough yet. If it does make a few dollars, well, you're out of luck cause part of this program is you do not make money, you're paying for a boot camp and writing the book is part of the boot camp.
In the end, they're not a good company. They're selling you information you can find for free online. And their policies are 100% self-serving. Don't be fooled by their gimmick. Is $10,000 worth the gamble? That's up to you. Just make sure you fully read their terms and conditions because it is packed with things they CHOOSE not to make clear upfront.
Look at their claimed trustpilot page. 3211 reviews, yet only 806 CONSIDERED. Most of the reviews were provided unethically. The majority of the 5-star reviewers for this company have written several 5-star reviews. Trustpilot didn't catch it, until someone drew attention to it... There are literally SINGLE acounts adding SEVEN, 5-star reviews for them!! There are multiple like this, and that is why their score is so high. You can click on the account and it shows you the other reviews the person has submitted. YOU'RE WELCOME 😊 It is unfortunate, that they even got people to add 5-stars.
A genuinely good company does not need to enter false reviews... also worth noting, when you write a review, you have the option of scanning your photo ID to verify your account. Personally, if I felt as strongly as these people that this is such a great program, I'd verify mine in a heartbeat.
Update: they have added their actual refund policy to their main trust pilot page since I had first posted my review (still shady on website). They're sure on top of trust pilot for a "genuine" business. For profit, "general" educator of FREE information.
