We had an experience of a lifetime! The boat was top notch, the staff was extremely attentive and accommodating, and the food and drinks were abundant and delicious. It was hard to leave!

Adaptions for the aging diver…
The consistant help from the divemasters to make it possible for me to continue diving into my eighties. Without their help, I would not have managed getting back into dive boat due to recent bsck surgery.
They made it all possible!!!

A fantastic time on Humboldt Explorer
I had a fantastic time on Humboldt Explorer in Sep 2025. Everything was well organised, and a comfortable boat. A warm welcome from a lovely small, hardworking team, everyone was fantastic from the guides to the boat crew to chefs. Excellent food, my vegetarian request very well met. Superb diving, everything Id hoped to experience and the 2 land excursions were a real bonus too.

The staff made the experience great
The staff made the experience great. Every single one of them helped the divers get ready -even the Captain! Food was exceptional, also catered to special diets where needed. The crew entertained us and dressed each pair as one of the animals we encountered. What fun we all had with that.
The offboard Island tours were especially informative. We learned about the Galapagos birds, giant tortises, sea lions, Iguanas and a fascinating lava tube.
We would highly recommend the Humboldt Explorer to anyone wishing to experience diving the Galapagos.

Es war eine großartige Reise
Es war eine großartige Reise. Crew und Schiff almost perfect! Die Guides unterschieden sich in Ihrer Briefing und Wasserqualität. Einer der Guides hielt sich selber nicht an die ausgegebenen Sicherheitsregeln und tauchte z.B. beim Sicherheitsstopp mit einem Teil der Gruppe auf, wobei ein anderer Teil noch unter Wasser die Restzeit verweilen musste.
Schade war, dass wir Tauch-Spots ausgelassen haben, um z.B. die MolaMolas und Dragons unter Wasser zu erleben. Die Begründung hierfür hat mir gefehlt.
Ansonsten war alles tiptop, viel erwartet und mehr als das bekommen! :-)

Very nice cruise in north Maldives, despite the season not very favorable for the visibility, but we had a lot of mantas and whale sharks 🤪

Expect your expectations to be exceeded
To long I had diving at Galapagos on my bucket list.
The Trip on the Tiburon with Explorer Ventures was worth all the effort for this travel.
The boat, the crew and the guides had been a top combination. Nothing where you could find the smallest thing to complain.
The diving itself was Galapagos like. I never had so much fish, so many sharks, so many turtles. Seals for the first time. Of course also Iguanas. And on top also my first whale shark after 37 years of diving.
Just one thing that you have to be aware. For the diving expect cold water. I knew in advance that it might get cool. But not that it can that cool. Water temp. was in the range of 24°C (75F), down to 15°C (59F).
And now I have to go threw all of my pictures and videos of this trip. I think this will take longer as the trip itself.

Hi Otto, thank you for sharing your experience and for highlighting the great service from our crew. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed many aspects of your trip with us.
To clarify a couple of details: our vessels carry both AL80 and AL100 tanks. While AL80s are the global standard for recreational diving, larger tanks are always available upon request. Your group preferred the larger tanks and used AL100s throughout the week.
Our chef works hard to balance variety with individual dietary needs, and we always do our best to accommodate requests. As in this case, we also communicate with guests and group leaders prior to each trip regarding special diets, so expectations are clear on what can realistically be provided. While not every specific food item can be available at every meal, each meal does include a protein option, along with fruit and vegetables.
For hydration, the Humboldt Explorer is equipped with two water dispensers (each with a 5-gallon jug) — one on the dive deck and another in the covered dining area — as well as coffee, tea, and soft drinks, all stocked and available for self-service at any time to help keep everyone refreshed.
We truly appreciate your feedback and are pleased you enjoyed the crew and the boat overall. Wishing you many more wonderful diving adventures ahead!

An absolutely fabulous trip!
The crew on the Humboldt Explorer went above and beyond for us every minute of every day. Everyone - including the captain! - rallied on the dive deck to help us in and out of wetsuits and gear before and after dives. They helped us hang everything up, washed everything thoroughly every few days, hosed off BCDs with clean water every evening, and draped towels on us after dives. Anytime anyone had an issue with gear someone was there to fix it for us.
Our dive guides were both amazing, and led safe, excellent, and entertaining dives. You could tell they both just really love diving and the Galapagos, and that really shone through in their briefings and excitement level before and after dives. It didn’t seem like just a job, but a real passion. It was a really wonderful experience and I can’t wait to go back!

Turks and Caicos Explorer II
I recently spent a week aboard the Turks and Caicos Explorer II, and overall, it was a memorable and positive experience. The diving was excellent, the crew was professional and attentive, and the food was absolutely outstanding—easily among the best I’ve had on any liveaboard. Thank you, Miguel, for meals that were creative, fresh, and consistently delicious!
The boat itself was comfortable and well-organized, and the dive schedule was full without feeling rushed. The staff worked incredibly hard to make the trip smooth and enjoyable. I really appreciated having Dee on board—she was particularly engaged and knowledgeable, and her expertise as a marine biologist was a real asset to the trip.
That said, while the service from the crew was top-notch, it was hard not to notice a disconnect between their professionalism and how they were spoken to—or about—by those in charge. It didn’t impact the logistics of the trip, but it did color the atmosphere in subtle and uncomfortable ways.
I’d definitely consider sailing with Explorer Ventures again for the diving and the crew—but I hope the company takes a closer look at how its management culture shows up on board.

Trip of a lifetime.
What an incredibly well run trip. I have just come away from a 14 day voyage on the Humbolt Explorer and am totally impressed by the whole experience.
The crew are outstanding, from the operation on the boat, preparing delicious food throughout the day, keeping the cabins spotles, manning the zodiac and helping on the dive deck.
The dive team were so skill full and knowledgeable. They kept us safe in the water and took us on some of the best dives I have experienced. Hammer heads, nudibranch, seal lions, marine iguanas, mobulas, mantas and whale sharks. It was a megafauna and mucrofauna extravaganza.
Thank you all for a trip of a lifetime.

The crew was great
The crew was great! The boat is old and outdated, rooms are very small. Only hot water for a shower and to brush your teeth, this is absurd! You need a air conditioned dining room so you can eat without sweat running down your back. I would not recommend!

The crew was fun and I enjoyed getting to know them, the food was amazing and they were very accommodating for dietary needs. The diving was amazing and we saw many beautiful reefs, sea life, and shipwrecks. The land tours were a nice cultural touch and the trip was well organized. I made many wonderful memories with charished friends.

The crew was superior. The effort to give us a great experience was awesome. The dive guides, Ronnie and Victor were incredible. The little things too, like coming off a dive and having juice or a snack, warm towels, assistance with gear were amazing.

The dive masters did an excellent job taking care of our needs not only on the water but also on the vessel with our cabins and everything. The food service was excellent and very delicious. Good variety of beverages with self service bar setup.
