Enable Disability Driving School are a team of friendly and knowledgable driving instructors who specialise in training pupils of all abilities with a keen focus on inclusive learning, including teaching and learning of individuals with additional learning, physical and emotional needs. We have a fleet of tuition vehicles, teaching both manual and automatic transmissions, with the option of using an adapted vehicle as well which can be tailored to individual needs. The adapted vehicle consists of infra-red smart hand controls, steering lollipop, and push pull accelerator and brake pedals. There is also the option of a left footed accelerator if required. Our team have a variety of experience, with a combined total of 30 years driving tuition experience. Our instructors also have additional background experience working in healthcare, mental health, teaching, motor trade and armed forces experience. As such, regardless of your needs, we can find the best instructor to suit your individual needs. We aim to provide a holistic experience to each client which can range from theory and practical driving education, to purchasing a vehicle, adapting vehicles, and beyond. We provide lessons to beginners, as well as providing finesse to experienced drivers, supporting individuals with transitioning from an international license to a British driving license, or providing familiarisation courses to drivers who are experienced in driving a standard vehicle, adapt to driving an adapted vehicle. We work closely in conjunction with a variety of national bodies including the NHS, Motability and DVSA, along with a variety of other organisations including SSAFA, and the Disability Driving Instructors.

Adam Richardson is very knowledgeable and high skilled driving instructor. Very passionate with students, gives constructive feedback and every lesson is directed to the best needs of students. I am so glad that I picked the Enable Driving school and personally Adam as driving instructor for my driving training. Thank you so much Adam! am a newly qualified driver now!

Paul you are amazing!
Paul you are amazing!! I couldn’t be more grateful for Enable Driving School. Paul is a wonderful guy, he taught me to drive and pass my test through plenty of breakdowns. He was supportive and patient. I experienced driving with all instructors who were all lovely and had their own individual amazing way of teaching. Massive thank you, would highly recommend!!!!

I’m really impressed with Adam he’s…
I’m really impressed with Adam he’s friendly helpful and listens and understanding. My lessons are on hold just now until I pass my theory test and even then he sends you a text of encouragement so I cannot wait to get driving again he really encourages you and it fills you with confidence.

I had a good experience with enable driving school they have good instructors to bring up a good driver, I thought I was good but wasn't until enable instructions coached me thumbs up to you guys.

5 star service across the board with this company. Had been with them as they started to grow the business and always felt well guided and looked out for through the whole process.
If you want to learn to drive and have fun doing it, these are the people that will help you do that.

Learn from 'The Best' 😊
Took my lessons from Paul. He is an amazing instructor. He teaches well, gives you time to absorb things, calms you down if you panic, make things easily understandable by presenting logics, is patient and funnily sarcastic 🤣🤣 I enjoyed every lesson. Joined their classes on a friend's recommendation and recommending others as a friend.

Best driving instructor in town!
I was lucky to have Adam as an instructor - he helped me quel my driving anxiety, build my confidence and pass my test :)

Best driving instructor
Paul is an excellent instructor and knows how to make you feel comfortable while driving, l would highly recommend anyone wanting to sit their driving in Dumfries to choose Total drive who are located at Dumfries train station at the Carlisle end. Ps the coffee is great as well.

I had the best experience. I am so lucky to have been taught by Paul. He helped me overcome my fear of driving. The lessons are tailored to fit individual needs and I believe this is what makes them exceptional. I would recommend to anyone looking for driving instructors.

Supportive and encouraging driving school
Fantastic driving school. Adam, my instructor, was very supportive. I was quite anxious about the prospect of driving, but Adam put me at ease. He built up my skills gradually and consistently challenged me in a supportive manner. He always encouraged me to progress in every lesson with a very supportive approach. It's more than just learning to drive; it's about building confidence too. Enable is a driving school that supports you in various ways. I would recommend it to anyone, especially those who are apprehensive and who feel anxious about learning to drive. This is the place for you!
