Have been to the Tattoo once before back in early 2000.Poured with rain all evening but the experience was fantastic. There was so much variation with an assortment of different acts to keep you enter... Se mere

Very disappointed, I took my wife as she has never been, I went around 50 years ago, it was fantastic then, with stunt riders, horses, guns and everything you would expect from a military show. But, a... Se mere

Experience ruined before it even started
The website is not user friendly & I'm a techsavy person. They trick you when you select a seat out of interest & if you decided what seat you wanted it would not prompt before the first seat you selected. So I ended up paying for the wrong seat & as early as 11am they are nowhere to be seen on the phone. Which means they will certainly refuse my email request because they are creating delay in answering to inquiries.
Plus, I wish I checked the reviews earlier. So not only do I have to sit where I don't want, now I'm wasting £82 for something I did not even pay for. I thought because this was 'Royal', this would be conducted fairly with immaculate service. The only saving grace is it's not interfering with my plans
I was very disappointed with the tattoo…
I was very disappointed with the tattoo this year .There was very little in it and the bands apart from the mass pipe band were disorganised ,not precise and appeared to make a mockery of the whole evening .I don’t know why the tattoo was so poor this year .Hipefylly next year will be better
If I wanted to see a Disney Parade I…
If I wanted to see a Disney Parade I would have gone to Florida . Get back to the traditional pipes and drums that the majority of the elderly and ex military were expecting. Will not be going again, sorry.
Disappointed as it is more of a song…
Disappointed as it is more of a song and dance routine than a military tattoo. The dancers work very hard. The singing is average. First time I recall so many seats being unoccupied. Seemed to be dominated by USA military.
Tradition gone
Absolutely disgusting what's happening to our tradition. Director is probably a non binary transsexual with his pronouns they/them and the top brass aren't allowed to have an opinion to what's happening just incase his feelings get hurt. Hang your head in shame for this singing dancing high five slapping over price crap
Bollywood, Shocking, Shame😟
Bollywood, flaming bagpipes, swing singers, we have been 5 times in the last 15 years and this is without a doubt the worst show ever! as an ex-soldier I was always under the impression that this was a Military Tattoo, obviously now this is a woke weakened piece of nonsense, we hope that the amount of poor reviews will change this, but we are also sure that it won’t and that it will only get worse, Wayne Sleep next technical director🤔😟🧙♂️⁉️
Dreadful evening of woke entertainment.
Dreadful evening of woke entertainment.
Where were our other armed forces?
Dull and uninspiring other than the pipers drummers.
Waste of money especially as we travelled from Spain to see this.
Get a REAL military man to put on the show.
We don't want Broadway entertainment
Not as good as other years
So, this is only the second time I’ve been to the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Last year was my first time. I work for the military, and received 2 tickets this year and last. Last year was amazing!! This year was ok. Last year was a lot more involved across all parts of military, navy, RAF, army etc. This year was hosted by navy, but it seemed like that was it. I know there was pipes and drums from an army regiment, but that was about it. Last years performers were great. They were from all over. There was something for everyone, and brought together a great show. This year was nothing compared to last. I personally know some of the pipes and drums who have previously performed at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, and not having them perform this year makes me feel like the army should have more involvement going forward. As the title says, Royal Edinburgh “Military” Tattoo.
Too Disney-esque
It's visually spectacular but has become less and less military based over the years. 2024 felt like a sickly Disney inspired film in parts, especially the ballad singing. The organisers have lost their way. More bagpipes, traditional dance and marching please.
Shocking
Shocking!
I’m Scottish and have been raised on attending the tattoo
I took my English partner , ( his first time] and was frankly, embarrassed!
3rd rate broadway show.
Scotland what are we doing? Let’s show off our traditions and heritage before we lose this
The pipers forced to do some type of Can Can !
Major disappointment.
This version is really bad and a complete waste of money. The military bands are now the backing track to a very mediocre song and dance production, if I’d wanted to see American showtime, Bollywood and a DJ set, I’d have gone and seen better elsewhere at a fraction of the price. My partner is ex armed forces and had been looking forward to seeing this for a long time. We came away feeling very disappointed, angry and fleeced frankly.
If I could give 0 stars I would
If I could give 0 stars I would, someone obviously forgot the Military in the title. If I wanted to see a dance show I would have gone to a dance show. As ex Military I found this a joke
Loved the whole thing I have a friend…
Loved the whole thing I have a friend in usa 🇺🇸 navy who I speak to in the UK 🇬🇧 at various times
American Show
American bands, American singers, American flag? What was going on? I thought I was going to a Scottish Military show. Wish there had been more bagpipes, the lone piper in the castle was best bit.
I have been attending the Edinburgh…
I have been attending the Edinburgh Military Tattoo for over 40 years, sadly the last two years have seen it lose its attraction.
Firstly the positive, the booking and online tickets make it far easier to enter.
Last year we had no narrator, hence no audience participation, as a result the atmosphere of the past sadly missing. This is obviously a cynical attempt to sell programs at £10. Displaying the act on the wall of the castle very difficult to read and frankly pointless.
I wonder if they are trying to create a situation to bring the event to an end, if so they are doing a good job. I noted the number of empty seats in the stands somethin you would not have seen a few years ago.
Next year is the 75th and I and my group have booked again, however if we do not see a return to the traditional Military Tattoo it will be our last visit.
If I want to go to a rock festival or dance festival then I will book it, for goodness sake get back to basics. Give control to the military as they know how it is done.
What a waste of money!
What a waste of money! It used to be excellent. Only couple of bands worth watching now but the rest was too amateur for this type of event. To add facilities poor and drinks over priced. Save your money!
This is my second time at the Edinburgh…
This is my second time at the Edinburgh military tattoo, the first time being in 2009 when I was blown away by it. However i can't tell you how disappointed my friends and I were this time around. It was a woke dance show that had limited amounts of military displays in it. Its the military that we come to see, hence the title!! Please restore this amazing traditional Military event and stop trying to make everything so woke
Came from Australia to be dissapointed.
We came all the way from Australia to see the famous Edinburgh Military Tattoo as we had seen the Tattoo when it came to Australia about 10yrs ago. we enjoyed it so much we said if we ever came to Scotland the Tattoo was a must see. We'll what a disappointment, a big disappointment it was
more like a song and dance production with a bit of Bollywood thrown in for what reason
I have no idea, the show seemed to be
dominated by America, there were absolutely
no introductions of the bands it was just a
see and guess, there was very little in the
way of Military theme, the whole show
seemed to be a mish mash of bands, no one
from Scotland spoke, it was like the whole
show was just a new age WOKE version. Will NOT be coming back again. Scotland and I say this having Scotish ancestry but your
organisers and powers to be have turned the
Edinburgh Military Tattoo into a 2nd rate bag
pipe hip hop show led by American singers.
Waste of Money
Absolutely terrible! Only a few highlights like Majesticks Drum Corps and the pipe bands, the rest of the acts, which made up the majority of the show, seemed like cheap fillers, dull and uninspired! 4 of us paid £220 each expecting to be dazzled and were left feeling we wasted our money. Very disappointing!
The best event with money well spent
This was an exceptional event , exceedingly well organised and displayed .
The stewards and support staff were polite and friendly yet offered clear directives .
The show itself was beyond words and truly worth every penny - what skill and ability each participant had !!! A fabulous experience not to be missed
