Purchased 2 Eccotemp tankless units few years ago. From Day 1, have never worked properly. Terrible customer service, and the DO NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCTS, Beware, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY.

I bought a brand new eccotemp EL22. It quit engaging and would throw a code at under 2gpm. Spec for the unit is 1.5 gpm. (For context you’re average bathroom sink operates between 1.4 and 2 gpm.) this means to get a hot shower. I have to turn on the bathroom sink and the shower at the same time. 8 months and counting and its not fixed. The first 6 months i jumped through every hoop, they kept insisting it was an environmental issue, I had installed it wrong, I’d put too many bends and fittings, my gas pressure wasn’t high enough, the water pressure was too high or too low. It was a very meticulous process of ensuring that I meet every single factory specification, and it still didn’t work. Even with the unit disconnected from the rest of the house is plumbing, and the hot water being directed immediately from the machine into an open bucket. You can see my

Since they reviewed this video, they’ve told me no less than six times writing That it’s a restriction issue, and I need to remove the screens from my faucets to improve flow. Despite the video clearly showing no faucets are even attached.
I’ve tried to give them the benefit of a doubt and assume incompetence versus maliciousness, however, this case was handled by their lead customer service rep, and their general manager.
To add insult to injury, I shipped it to them to have their “expert technicians“ fix it. However, it is their policy to do “minimal testing” and if the system even turns on at any level, it’s not broken in their book and they shipped it back to me in same broken condition.
This is a direct quote from their written response when I asked why their testing in-house wasn’t even to the standards I just been run through for the last six months.
“ We do not test the water heaters in as you said "a real-life situation" as our setup does not allow for that. Every person's installation is different. The should all follow the requirements posted in the manual, but not every installation is the same, so we test our water heaters at the most basic form. If it works here, there's nothing wrong with the water heater itself…”~Tristen Scott, Eccotemp General manager

So in practice their policy is to under equip their staff so they can’t find problems so that they don’t have to warranty anything.

wish I had read these reviews first - exact same experience! Faulty product delivered and service call arranged which they failed to honour.

AVOID

Poor customer service and even worse products. We have gone through 2 of their portable units, each last lasting only one season. Jump though the hoops to send them the information and pictures they require only to be ignored. Avoid!

Bought a tankless water heater by this manufacturer, it worked great for 3 months, then it broke (minor part which should be replaceable).
Very poor customer service. They replied one message asking for photos, and now completely ignoring me. They clearly don't want to know and don't care about their customers.
