Used East coast in Tasmania for a 19 day hire for a road trip got a great clean car. Then we hired another car in Perth airport for 7 nights for a south west trip. The Shuttle bus in both branches worked perfectly, with friendly informative drivers.
The Perth branch looks really new staff were super helpful and we got another great car.
Although the Hobart airport branch was a little busy as it was 0930am The staff quickly got through the clients.
Staff at both branches were really superb.
Pricing was reasonable for the car and extras required.

This company has been immensely helpful to me when my travel plans got turned upside down. I initially hired a car for 6 weeks but then had to extend the rental period an extra 4 days... there was no trouble doing that. At the end of this hire period the car was turned in. Their shuttle service took me to the airport. I could not board my scheduled flight as planned and would be delayed at least another 3 days. This company were able to provide another car with no waiting period. On the day this car was to be returned my flight was cancelled at the last minute, so again I had to extend the car hire period for another two days. This was handled with ease by East Coast's staff. Throughout this whole time, the staff helped me through what was a stressful time at the end of a great vacation. They were able to put my mind at ease so I could focus on my other important issues. Thank you. I would not hesitate to recommend your company to anyone.

We were met at the arrival terminal as promised and taken back to the rental office. We'd paid the extra dollars to get the insurance before we arrived, so our car was ready to go. The whole process took about 5 minutes at the office.

Arrived in Bribane late and tired and was so glad I had booked with East Coast Car Rentals. Made the trip from airport to their base easy and quick. Sorted out the booking in no time fitted the sat nav which was brilliant during our trip. Returning the car was simplicity itself ,really helpful staff and dropped us back at the airport hotel. Painless. Highly recommend and thank the guys.

An incredibly efficient and friendly team. We made a on the spot decision to book a car, easy to do online and speedy pickup on a very busy night. You guys are awesome and will use you next time we are in Brisbane.

Slight misunderstanding between staff meant I was allocated the wrong car and had to return the next day for a replacement which was quickly and efficiently processed. Have used most branches of ECCH and the service and prices are consistently excellent.

Use ECCR quite a lot, particularly when picking up a car at an airport. The instructions to find the shuttle and the frequency of the shuttles are very good. The staff are very friendly. The car in Sydney (RAV4) was excellent but underpowered, the car in Melbourne was OK but high mileage and tinny (MG). Returns and pick up are generally processed quickly

BTW, the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid is under-powered and struggles up hills. IMHO. But that's not their fault. I was expecting a vehicle 5 years old, but the one supplied had only done 5000 km.

Outrageous Charges

East Car Rental told us to buy additional insurance when picking up the car but as we bought full proection from rentalcover.com, we did not buy full protection twice.

Upon returning the car on December 25, there was a small scratch on the bumper which looks like the paint was scratched off (around 1-2cm), the customer service said they will need to charge AUD1000 as deposit although it can be up to AUD5500 for major damages. However, rest assure, it should be much less and that we will likely get a refund. On that basis, we paid the AUD1000 and left.

I emailed a week later on the final cost and did not hear from them until end Jan 2025 (one month later). They put together a full report which includes an assessor fee, 5 days loss of rental income, processing fee etc,,, and asked us to pay an additional AUD1449 which is a total of AUD2449 for a small scratch (1-2cm).

The amount seems so outrageous we emailed to ask and they said it is NOT a small damage!!
They further said if we don't pay by the due date, they will pass the outstanding to an external party to collect and that we will be responsible for any additional charges.

Lesson learnt, we will NEVER rent from East Coast car rental ever again and will choose more reputable and reliable bigger car rental companies such as Europcar, Avis, Thristy...

This is the first time we ever rented from East Coast and will be the last.

Consistently easy to deal with when picking up my vehicles. Great customer service, and always new cars. I use them every year when visiting Australia and I find the rates are better than the big companies..

I travel to Cairns multiple time a year and always use the service of ECCR. They offer cheaper service than the rental agencies at the airport. The service is great, starting from the excellent arrangement of the shuttle minibus between the airport terminal and the rental office. Cars are in very good condition. I often get a free upgrade of car category. The process of getting and returning the car is quick and easy.

We've rented a car from East Coast Car Rentals several times from Melbourne and Adelaide. They have been excellent on every occasion.

I have noticed there has been another attempt of a payment taken from my account this morning, and to be truthful, you won’t be getting the $148.50 from my account, because I’ll make sure there isn’t $148.50 in the account for you to take.

The charge is completely unfair. I’m happy to pay for the fuel that I owe but it definitely is not that much. I’m giving you until the end of today to come up with a solution to solve this, in a fair and even manner, or I’ll be closing down the bank account.

There is multiple reasons this charge isn’t fair;
I wasn’t aware that the car had to be brought back with the exact amount of fuel it had been given to me with (which does make sense, and I do understand, hence why I’m happy to pay for the fuel)
I dropped the car off at your Brisbane depot with 1 hour spare, where the guy who collected the car from me asked me about the petrol, however didn’t bother to tell me that the petrol needs to be filled. So I could have gone out to fill up and come back.
I drove the car over 200 miles down the east coast, where I had filled up the petrol that morning, otherwise I wouldn’t have been made it to Brisbane.
It’s not $148.50 (£75) worth of fuel, I wasn’t born yesterday.
I’ve also been invoiced, where it says there’s 2 bars of petrol, when there is clearly 3 on the photograph. You’re trying to squeeze every penny you can out of me.

Furthermore, from when I emailed this to you. You proceeded to try and take smaller payments from my account, without even emailing me back?

Modern clean fleet to choose from with super cheap daily prices. Depot is outside airport but the shuttle service is great and it is an easy 5km trip. Service at the depot was awesome with plenty of smiling faces. Drop off back to airport was super quick. Overall 5 star service and will be using them for my Tassie golf trips now on
