New to hearing loss and hearing aids, went to a few companies before Conor and all were just trying to sell me without understanding what I was looking for. (The need to hear live and recorded music directly) plus of course the usual needs. Conor guided me through a number of aids, and allowed me plenty of time to evaluate them at home, after nearly 4 months I have chosen an Oticon Zeal which again Conor worked with me on setup (which other companies werent interested in doing) Durham Hearing Specialists in Barnard Castle are simply the best and will always use them regardless of where I am in the country!

They are incredibly knowledgeable and always go above and beyond to provide the best service possible. Any issues have always been dealt with quickly and professionally. I am so grateful to have found this audiologist in Barnard Castle.

Had an appointment with Conor today. He retested my hearing and repaired one of my hearing aids. I have used other hearing aid providers but none come anywhere near Conor and the team at the Durham Hearing Centre Barnard Castle. I would award 6 stars but there's only 5. Top drawer service from a brilliant team.

I saw Nicole , who I have seen before. Once again the treatment was prompt and efficient.

I saw both Lilley and Nicole and can’t thank them enough, I came out of my appointment smiling ear to ear! Both super friendly and helpful, I know that if I ever have any more issues then the team at Durham Hearing Specialists is place to go, I can’t recommend them enough.

I received fantastic service from Lilley this morning. It was professional and I very much appreciate the care time and patience she had with me and my problems.

The reception staff are always friendly and helpful in arranging visits and try their best to accommodate your travel and other needs in arranging appointments.

The offices are clean bright and welcoming. Connor and his team have provided over 4 years of patient flawless service to me and today was no exception.

Used this Barnard Castle clinic for the first time yesterday as the wait time for my ear syringing appointment with the NHS was going to be 4 weeks and the discomfort was too much. I managed to get in to see Nicole within 3 days.
Although Nicole is an apprentice she is very capable and explained the micro-suction process in detail.

Treatment was over in 15 minutes and was completely pain free. Hearing restored to my problematic ear immediately

I visited Durham Hearing Specialist in Barnard Castle because I have had very bad tinnitus for many years. I have to say the service I received was first class. I had a full and proper investigation and then my ears were cleaned, they carried out a pressure test, and then the hearing tests themselves. It was agreed that I needed hearing aids and I was supplied with a set to try for free. They advised me on how to use them and as a musician that came in very useful! Conor, Lilley and Nicole were great. I was treated very well. They explained everything fully, showed me the test results, and gave me very good advice, and I was never under pressure to buy anything. Perfect. I did buy however, and I can hear so well now. And guess what? my tinnitus is improving. I would highly recommend DHS.

Just brilliant. Great booking System immediate access was needed booked on the Sunday in on Monday out within 15 min incredible service/treatment. The staff were excellent friendly and super efficient explaining the issues and sorted immediately. Forget booking doctor’s appointments waiting for 10days plus. This is the only place I will be going to.

I had my first hearing test and earwax removal here today. Lilley was very knowledgeable and understanding. She explained the process of earwax removal by suction, which I’ve never had before. It was preferable to using water. The suction method felt much gentler and less invasive than the water method. I felt that Lilley was listening to me and understood my hearing issues. She was very kind and understanding of my mobility issues.(I am a wheelchair user). I was promptly offered the use of the ramp to get into the building. I would definitely recommend this company for hearing care. I got an appointment quickly and the service and communication was excellent. I needed a referral and the letter to my GP was sent the same day and I was copied in and given a copy of my hearing test results. I will definitely use this company again and would happily recommend them to family and friends.

After reading reviews about Durham Hearing Specialists, I decided to visit them for an unresolved ear problem. We traveled four hours to see Ms. Lilley Todd, and it was worth every moment. Her expertise and clear explanations made all the difference, and after three months of getting nowhere, I am finally able to arrange the correct treatment.

I wish I knew about Conor earlier!
My little boy who’s now 3.5 has suffered with hearing loss since 18 months old, first receiving grommets on the NHS in August 2023 which fell out as expected earlier this year. Since then we had noticed changes in our son’s hearing, speech deterioration as well as behavioural changes which we suspected was due to hearing loss again. From learning about Conor from our consultant on Wednesday night we were lucky enough to get an appointment on Friday morning less than 48 hours from booking we had a comprehensive understanding of our little boys hearing. Conor and his team took a full and thorough history from start to finish and took the time to explain each test and the results so that we understood them and what they meant. My little boy is very shy at first but Conor’s approach meant he was smiling and laughing by the end of the appointment and left saying how ‘the doctor was really nice!). The suggested test was perfect for my little boy as he didn’t see it as a test at all, it was a fun game to him.
Whilst not the news any parents wants to hear - that their child’s hearing loss has returned we have been quickly able to put our minds at rest and get him on track to receive the appropriate treatment to support his ongoing development thanks to Conor and his team - the report landed in my inbox and with the consultant within an hour of the appointment too!

First visit today for earwax removal! Very professional and helpful advice received by Conor! Will definitely use them again if require treatment again in the future.

I had a recommended hearing test prior to a consultant appointment.
Connor, was clear well spoken and kind.
He explained each and every procedure before doing anything and the final report was sent to me via email as I arrived home.
