Absolute Desaster - no communication at all
We hired Dum Event Bar Hire's Dry Bar Hire package for our wedding (£2,100 + VAT) and were extremely disappointed.
Communication before the event was very poor — the phone number we were given stopped working, and when we eventually reached the company shortly before the wedding, it was clear our booking had been forgotten. A promised planning call, shopping list, and bar menu never materialised.
On the day itself, we were chased to pay the outstanding invoice. They had months to sent the invoice and haven’t done that. And now they sent it on the wedding day?
The bar was loud during both the ceremony and speeches despite our explicit request for quiet.
Only 3 of the 4 booked bartenders turned up, and there was clearly no proper inventory: several spirits we'd purchased weren't on display, garnishes we paid for never appeared, the LED bar lighting we paid for was never switched on ("we didn't have time," we were told), and beer was served warm.
Prosecco wasn't ready when the ceremony ended, guests waited a long time, and staff later claimed to have run out and started serving wine and rosé — only to then find 25 more bottles Prosecco later that evening. We were also given plastic cups instead of the glassware promised in the quote. Collection the next day was 30 minutes late because the driver had overslept.
The bar staff themselves were friendly and worked hard, but it was clear they hadn't been properly briefed or trained. For a fairly simple drinks order (bottled beer, canned cider, soft drinks, a couple of mix drinks like Gin & Tonic or Aperol), the level of disorganisation was hard to believe — especially at these prices.
We sent detailed feedback afterwards and never received a response. I think that sums up the experience quite well.
