I called for advice having quit my job in difficult circumstances. I am sure that the advice I was given was accurate...basically that I have no rights at all and nothing can be done but I think that the news might have been delivered more compassionately. Didn't listen well and was dismissive. When time is money ... and the call was free ... there is obviously no room for empathy. Had the advisor's manner been better this rating would have been much higher.

I was referred to Ben W through a friend that had gone through a similar employment dispute and the service was outstanding. Ben took the time to understand the situation and worked out the best action moving forward, keeping me in the loop through the entirety of the process. He was able to negotiate a better and more fair agreement with my previous firm. I would definitely recommend DPH legal and more specifically Ben to anyone going through a similar situation.

After being recommended DPH legal by another law firm who were currently too busy to take my case, and after looking on the website and confirming that they offer a 'free initial consultation', I put what I could of the details of my case and some of the evidence I have already gathered, in their short web form. Their form wouldn't even allow me to include all the evidence I have already collected and indexed, nor the specifics of the case.
I then received a phone call from one of their solicitors a few days later from a mobile number at just past 6pm. I was told in no uncertain terms that there is "no free consultation" and that I was being contacted to see "whether they would represent me or not" before advising me that they decline over 70% of cases. I was asked briefly about my EC certificate, and she appeared to want to argue with the timeline given by ACAs (I looked it up and ACAS are correct), and then she promptly advised that they would charge "£1500 to review everything". I didn't get to advise of any details of my case at all, nor what evidence I already have, nor was I asked exactly what I needed from them or what had even happened to cause the claim.
Very bizarre and quite frankly rude phone call. Wouldn't recommend at all if I'm honest.
Update as I've had a reply - Your website explicitly says - "Book A Free Consultation
This complimentary consultation allows our employment solicitors to understand more about your specific situation so we can provide you with the best advice possible.
We’ll lay out your options and will advise you upfront of any costs involved." I never stated that I wanted free legal advice, but I asked on the phone and in my account of here, that I asked about the 'free consultation' as advertised. I appreciate that timelines change, which is why I advised exactly what ACAs had advised me, and again what I was raising more here with this review is that talking to me for 3 minutes on the phone doesn't constitute a consultation, nor even a conversation. Thank you for getting back to me though

The legal ombudsman has ruled in my favour that DPH Legal’s service was unreasonable - the firm has been instructed to reduce their fees by £1416.69 due to not providing an estimate of costs that could incur. I do not recommend DPH Legal and hope that they have seen their error and rectify it for the future. I would say more but last time I posted a review David contacted me and (allegedly) said he would sue me for slander if I didn’t take my review down as he believed my claims were defamatory.
Make of that what you will.
The employment solicitor was responsive at every stage of the process, gave me good solid advice and I felt that I was in a good hands, very reassuring when you are going through a difficult employment situation.
I choose DPH initially as they had an office in the city where I live. I spoke to an incredibly helpful solicitor who made my whole experience an absolute pleasure. They were understanding and the speed at which they dealt with the issue was truly amazing. I recommend them without hesitation and will be passing their details onto friends and family should the need ever arise.
Rachel Evans acted as my lawyer. She was amazing. I had a rather sensitive issue and at no point was she judgemental or condescending towards me at all. She went out of her way for me and gave me very good legal advice. She dealt with my case and myself professionally and with compassion. I would definitely recommend her to others!
Our solicitor Jennifer was competent, ethical, realistic and caring who returned phone calls, emails and kept us informed.
It was apparent that she always had our best interests at heart and would give us her honest opinion. I can't recommend this firm (especially Jennifer) highly enough.

I was then put through to Rachel who was great from start to finish and answered all my questions and dealt with the whole process before any of the other companies had returned my call.
I honestly couldn’t recommend them highly enough.
I recently engaged Pam as my solicitor at DPH Legal. The positives were her politeness, efficiency, and getting the job done. However, there were notable downsides. The process felt rushed, leading to errors. Additionally, I was not informed when my advisor exceeded the agreed-upon time, resulting in unexpected additional costs that felt inevitable rather than transparent.
Discrimination, my main injustice, along with other key factors, was not properly fought for or given due consideration during negotiations. Ultimately, a small settlement of £2,200 after fees was agreed upon. Given what I believed, and was led to believe, was a strong discrimination case with breaches of contractual policies, this outcome did not reflect the stress and time I invested in the process.

I raised a grievance at work and I was suspended. I already knew the company was looking to constructively dismiss me after 6 years of service and had flipped my grievance into a disciplinary against me and I was facing dismissal.
I decided I needed a law firm and contacted DPH as they had a number of positive reviews.
I filled out a form requesting contact and I was promptly called by Stevyn Jackson.
He agreed that I had a case and agreed the best course of action was for an agreement to be made while the disciplinary was being carried out.
I was keen to know the payment options available so I could budget for a worse case. I have bills and had a looming dismissal over my head so I needed to plan my finances.
I enquired about the "no win no fee" option they advertise on the website. I had never needed a a solicitor before so wanted to know what the cost would be.
He agreed to get back to me with my options.
That was January the 3rd.
On the 6th of January I emailed him and he replied with " I agree that now is the time to try and seek an exit package before the disciplinary reaches a conclusion."
I was relived that I had a solicitor who was on my side and was in agreement with me and was feeling positive.
I emailed back and again requested my payment options and asked how we proceeded. That was January the 7th .
I was then invited to a disciplinary at work where everything went against me. It was more of a kangaroo court. No management or HR present, just a young girl from the customer department conducted the meeting and fired me. I needed legal support but had to attend the hearing without a solicitor.
My original grievance had been discounted.
Now DPH Legal did eventually get back to me.
My email from JANUARY THE 7TH WAS REPLIED TO ON MARCH THE 27TH !!!
Yes 99 days later.
There was an apology. Apparently he was very busy with his work while my work was being destroyed. He was also under pressure. I understand that as I was under immense pressure and stress myself and decided I needed legal assistance.
He also explained that there was no charge for his work so far, which was extremely generous and appreciated.
I wish I was told in January that the firm was to busy to take on my case.
From the reply I guess it was all my fault. Strange how the email in March started with an apology.
If you need a fast acting law firm , avoid !!

Plus point was very thorough on letter to employer.
Negative points slow at sending letters for review and were sent 12 mins before a disciplinary hearing when the day before would have been better.
6 mins to read an email 6 mins to think about response and 6 mins to respond =£95.40 when for fairly standard question 1 unit of 6 mins should have been sufficient.
Had to cease instruction before it bankrupt me.
