I am with this company a few years now and overall I am happy with it. This is the third time I used them for minor issues occurring abroad. In the past they have been fantastic. This time the whole process drugged several weeks and the emails I sent where never really answered. After several days I would get an email with no reference to mine just asking me for something. Not sure what changed, but they could definitely improve on communication. Eventually I did receive my money which is great. Even for that I never received notification that the claim went through, just appeared in my bank account.

Telephone quickly answered and insurance renewal completed without problem.

I always use direct car excess every year. it give me peace of mind when renting cars and I dont have to pay the very high excess cover insurance charges the hire companies always try to sell me. Ive had to make a claim once a few years ago and they paid me back within days and were super helpful

The lady rang me a few days before my policy expired which was also a few days before we were going away. Unfortunately I was in a supermarket at the time and she rang again an hour later as we agreed. She was friendly and efficient.

I have used Direct Car Excess Insurance for a number of years now to cover my Car Hire contract when I am abroad in France. Fortunately I have never needed to use them. But they are a much cheaper safety net than the excess insurance companies will offer you.

It was a simple, straightforward process to renew the policy. I have not made any claims so cannot comment on that process.

Policy on auto renewal, which is how I progressed, but was allowed to delay the start date of the new annual policy, which suited my circumstances this year. Paid at original renewal date, but new policy not starting for a couple of months. Certificate available and clearly shows the delayed start date. Thankfully not had to claim over the last few years but much cheaper than taking out the hire company insurances. The one time I have needed to claim, Direct Car Excess resolved the claim in a timely manner.

This is a policy that we have used before - quick and easy to get a quote and to accept it.
Policy papers and summary available but they could be noticeably highlighted in the agreement sent.

Easy to renew with all of the relevent information provided and very quick.

I like the concept of the service and fortunately never tested whether they paid up, so that side of their service could be perfect or awful, I don't know.

My issue is that the renewal e-mail has 2 options. Renew, or cancel renewal. Only one of these actually opens a webpage and takes me to their site. The Cancel just leaves me hanging no knowing whether it is going to auto renew or not. Shady.

I printed off some forms which gave me confidence when refusing the rental firms pushy insurance hard sell, which was a good thing. There is a spelling mistake in the policy document which doesn't inspire my confidence. "Protetion"

Used the company for a few years and luckily never had to claim but it gives you reassurance for little cost when hiring a car .

The lady who dealt with my renewal was a very good representative of Direct Car Excess. She was pleasant, efficient, knowledgeable and patient. Showed really good customer care. Pleased with her ability and manner.

This was a renewal. The company sent several emails ahead of the renewal date to confirm the cover was still appropriate and advised the premium had dropped. The payment method was also confirmed and the opportunity to cancel was all very transparent. I liked the reminder and how it was administered. Changing driver details last year was also straightforward.
