Payment Captured, Service Suspended: Terrible Support & Lost Business
I am the Lead Developer and Founder of "OrSoft Mariner PRO", a maritime navigation application currently live on the Google Play Store. On September 10, 2026, I purchased the 14-day trial of the "Starter" subscription for 9 Euros. The API signal was activated immediately, and everything seemed fine.
However, the very next day, my API access was abruptly cut off. All my server queries started returning a "402 PaymentRequired" error. The strange part? The funds were successfully deducted from my credit card and clearly appear on my September 11 bank statement as "DATALASTIC/PRAHA 8". They took the money but shut down the service.
I have sent multiple warning emails over the past 5 days with concrete screenshots of my bank statement and backend server logs. The result? Absolute silence. No replies, no fixes, nothing.
I have now lost 5 days of my 14-day trial, and my trust in this company is completely shattered. The irony is that if Datalastic had provided a reliable service and decent support, I was planning to upgrade my account to the "Developer Pro" subscription very soon to power my live application.
Instead, I am now forced to initiate a chargeback with my bank for non-delivery of services, and I will have to migrate my infrastructure to a more reliable data provider. If you are building a serious application that requires high availability, do not risk your business with their lack of support.
***** Update: After 5 days of silence and writing this review, support finally replied. It turns out they use a predatory pricing model: they charge API credits per vessel returned, not per request. A single radius query drained 500 credits instantly. Combined with a lazy and misleading "402 Payment Required" error instead of a standard "429 Quota Exhausted", it is a terrible developer experience. I am migrating to a competent provider.
