Extremely Disappointing and Unprofessional Service

I contacted customsdeclarations.ie in advance to arrange customs clearance for importing a BMW engine from the UK. They were quick to send me an invoice for €120, which I paid immediately, expecting a professional service.

I clearly explained I had two price options for the engine—£4,200 and £2,000—and confirmed I'd proceed with the £2,000 option. Once I received the invoice from the supplier, I sent it over as agreed. To my shock, they had already submitted a customs declaration at the higher £4,200 value without consulting or informing me.

I tried to reach them more than 30 times by phone—no answer. I even went to the address listed on their website, only to discover they have no physical office there. This makes it impossible to speak to someone in person if anything goes wrong.

Eventually, a friend of mine managed to get through on the phone, passed on a message for them to call me, but I never heard back. No replies to my emails either.

After wasting an entire day trying to fix their mistake, I contacted Irish Customs directly, only to be told that the declaration had already been lodged at £4,200, and I’d be forced to pay VAT on that amount. Even though I actually paid only £2,000 for the engine, I had no option to amend the declaration because of their error.

In the end, Customs had to call them to finalize the paperwork, but the damage was done. I now face overpaying VAT by a significant margin because of their incompetence.

Overall, a very poor, unresponsive, and unprofessional service. I would strongly advise others to stay away from this company. I’m now looking into ways to recover the VAT I overpaid due to their mishandling of the declaration.

Would 100% recommend. Norma was excellent in explaining the process. Clear instructions on what was needed and fast reply to any queries that were sent.

Absolutely excellent service from start to finish with Norma. I would highly recommend as it took all the hassle out of clearing our car from the UK

Absolutely brilliant. Had an awkward and complicated import to deal with and the team were so professional. The process was smooth and went without a hitch. I can't recommend these folk highly enough.
