Rent A FSP - Disappointing conduct from a compliance “monitor” in a public trading community
Truly dissappointed by the unprofessional conduct of Stephan Potgieterm who is a registered representative of Complishield.
CompliShield Financial Services Pty Ltd ("CompliSheild")
FSP No: 53590
I am submitting a formal complaint regarding Stephan Potgieter, who is associated with Complishield, and who participated in a WhatsApp trading community where Complishield is listed as “monitors”.
1) Context
I am a paying client of T1FX products, and I participated in their free WhatsApp community group to both seek support and provide constructive feedback to other members. A dispute arose after I shared risk and method-related context. I was removed from the group without warning and then blocked by the group owner when I tried to resolve the issue constructively.
Given Complishield’s positioning in the group as “monitors”, I expected a neutral and compliance-oriented approach (clear rules, fair process, de-escalation, and evidence-led handling).
2) Complaint: unprofessional and biased engagement
Instead, Stephan’s responses were dismissive and aligned with the group owner’s stance, without addressing the underlying conduct or ensuring fair process. Examples include:
“Hy gaan nie toelaat dat enige iemand die groep negatief maak nie, veral nie die beginners nie.”
“Daardie groep is nie vir betaalde kliente nie… Jy het… ’n houding… So jy moet maar aanbeweeg asb.”
This reads as prejudging (“negative”, “attitude”) rather than assessing facts, applying consistent rules, or providing a proper escalation path.
3) Why this matters
Where a party is presented to the public as a compliance “monitor” in a trading community, the bar should be higher:
- impartiality and de-escalation,
- clear process,
- professional communications,
- and clarity on what “monitoring” actually means in practice.
My experience was the opposite.
4) What I am requesting
Please provide, in writing:
- Confirmation of Stephan Potgieter’s relationship to Complishield and capacity in which he acted in that group.
- Complishield’s role definition for “monitoring” WhatsApp trading groups (scope, standards, escalation).
- Your internal complaint reference number and investigation timeline (who will handle it).
- Whether you will require Stephan to issue a written clarification/apology regarding the “attitude” allegation, and whether any corrective action will be taken.
I have screenshots and supporting evidence attached. I am happy to provide additional context if required.
This is not how a registered FSP should be conducting themselves.
