A disgraceful unreliable service driven…
A disgraceful unreliable service driven by angered ill-educated nobheads. Miss customers at a stop if they feel like it, smirk, do not know anything in the Highway Code about use of horn, ill-courteous, drive 2m from cyclists in a cycle lane and sound their horn!!!! Utterly disgraceful driving. Nearly caused serious injury to several passengers simply due to anger and aggression.
Sack the lot apart from superb award winning Polish guy and start again with a massive service rethink.

Shocking service
Terrible service, I've checked the timetables on the WEBSITE the evening before our journey, but when the next morning we went to the bus stop we found out that the timetables had been changed (WEBSITE HASN'T BEEN UPDATED) so we had to wait an HOUR for the next one, which should have come at 10.24am, but at 10.45am it still hadn't shown up. We went back home since it was not worth travelling for 4 hours (in total) just to stay in York for just over 2 hours till the last bus of the day was going to be due. Shocking service, buses have never been on time once and they keep breaking down too! I wouldn't recommend this service. It ruined our day.
Worst app ever
I am perfectly adept at IT but this new app is so bad it is impossible to make it give information that you need.Coastliner already has it's performance problems and I feel sorry for the drivers who so often get it in the neck when they have nothing to do with delays and cancellations - lucky them! Passengers will now be grumbling again about something else.

Thankyou Coastliner
Thankyou Coastliner and the drivers of the 840 and 843 on the York to Malton / Pickering for making our family Christmas possible with buses that were reliable, super clean and warm. Transfer from a London train to the bus worked well on Wednesday 27 as did my son's decision to travel at the last minute from York on christmas eve. I use the bus all the time and with a flask of coffee and a good book, I can't fault it. Really love the black bus used on the route
Forever grateful
Bus driver 78554 saw that I was in an uncomfortable position and made sure to check on me through out my journey on route 700. I wasn’t able thank her properly so I wanted to write it here. Knowing she was checking up on me made me feel confident enough to deal with the situation.

So sorry to say that your bus coming from Littlehampton to Yapton at 11.45 ish today deliberately sped up as he was approaching the floods on the South side of Yapton soaked my car and stranded me and a car following me. What sort of people are working for you. ???
I have always tried to let's buses out into traffic, not any more.
Shocking experience
Two of us aimed to get the 16:39 to Leeds from York (St.Leonard's Hospice) yesterday (Saturday 14th Oct). Waited for ages to discover that the bus was cancelled after arrival at York Station.
The following bus was full (passengers standing). The driver stopped to tell us that he was over full and we could not get on having waitied nearly an hour by this time. We had to walk home to get the car to drive to Leeds.
This is not he first time we have experienced cancelled Coastliners to Leeds but we are unlikely to try and use this service again.
Coastliner used to run an excellent service pre-pandemic but has now gone downhill and is not delivering a service that can be relied upon.

Better off crawling
Hasn't arrived on time any of the 10+ trips I've taken. Stops at about 15 stops in tiny villages meaning the already delayed bus gets further and further behind. Is there a need to drive all around tiny places when it can't even arrive anywhere on time as it is. So bad, they need to do something about it!

I'm a York local and have got this bus several time. Never on time, my waiting times have ranged from 30 minutes to an hour and a half because they have been ridiculously late or just not turned up at all. Had to vacate the bus on one trip which took the hour and a half journey to over 3 hours, and the bus had arrived 30 minutes late anyway. Most recent trip I left an extra hour before because I thought this would be sufficient to factor in the inevitable delays, but it still wasn't enough and ended up arriving 10 minutes before a transfer bus when the crossover time should have been over an hour. Terrible, actually turn up ffs.

I mean if they can never even remotely be on time, they could at least clean the damn things.

Absolutely disgusting! They’re really lucky I cant post photos on this review, there is rubbish everywhere!!
And you would really think with train drivers being absolute snowflakes these days, they would step up their game and steal the trade. But nope, even less buses, even when the business is there for the taking ?!?
Absolutely amazing
Absolutely amazing. A lovely journey from York to Whitby and back, and incredible value for money - free for senior bus pass holders. Compared to the trains and the overcrowding and stress, wonderful.
Another lousy experience
A week after a non-show by a Coastliner from York to Leeds, there were more problems with the lack of information about the possible arrival of the 843 between 09.30 and 10.00. I walked to the Station and then ran when I saw a 840 service waiting - only to find it had broken down!
At Leeds, I queued for the 12.45 843 to Scarborough via York listed on the board; as the countdown proceeded until it was ‘Due’, it disappeared from the board with (you guessed it) no explanation. Consequently, I had to wait another 30 minutes - a total of 50 minutes wait - when the 843 and 840 arrived: two buses heading to the coast via York fulfilling the old joke of waiting ages for a bus and then 2 come at once!
I have found Coastliner to be an unpredictable and untrustworthy ‘service’, only a service is what it’s NOT.
I would describe it as a ‘hope for the best but don’t expect it service’ and suggest that instead of printing arrival and departure times in its Timetable, it just says ‘Guess’.
I waited at scarborough train station…
I waited at scarborough train station for the 2.10 to leeds only to find out it was cancelled so waited another hour which set me back. I rang to be told it had been cancelled, updated on line, great. When it arrived at 3.10 bus half full, this has never happened. It had been sat at last stop waiting to be filled I pressume. I am very annoyed what a shambles
843 coastliner bus
Was waiting for the 843 bus to Scarborough at 8:50 it showed up but the bus was full the driver refused anymore customer had to get the train cause I wasn’t waiting for another hour
Extra Buses needed
Unless you get on the 8am bus from Sherburn to Scarborough on a weekend or school holidays its impossible to get a bus because they're full,transdev really need to be putting a extra bus on from malton to Scarborough so locals can get out of the village.

Shambolic service ,we all are encouraged to use public transport but at what cost,your job? Malton to York 08.29 Rockingham stop doesn't turn up so walked to the station to catch the next bus half an hour later .Return journey Bus was 20 min late and when did turn up slowed down and refused access to board claiming full! had to wait for another bus that again was late resulting in a 2hr and 15 minute plus journey back to Malton !
Freezing, 30 minutes late, no toilet break, aggressive driver
We took a three hour journey (three and a half due to delay!) from Scarborough (9am from peasholm park) - Leeds and could not be more shocked at the service. The bus was colder than it was as outside, every passenger sat with hoods up breathing fog with iced up windows. We were refused to take a toilet stop and told “this is what you get with a bus service, get off and get the next bus if you want”. It seems absurd that there are no toilet facilities, scheduled breaks or heating for a three hour journey. Beyond anything, the driver was extremely rude and actually somewhat aggressive when we asked if there would be a stop, actually turning red in the face. I’m genuinely appalled at the service and will never take this bus journey.

Shambolic driving !
This morning, I have had an absolute nightmare using the 840 Leeds to Whitby service. The male driver clipped 3 kerbs, missed an awaiting passenger, started to pull away totally misjudging the speed of an HGV approaching us then, had to slam on. The driver was reckless to say the least. Swerving, taking bends far too fast. No consideration for the safety of his passengers. We changed drivers at Malton. A female driver. Started off all well and good. Then come the long straight roads. Maximum speed, far too fast for the extreme winding roads and the gradients. What is wrong with these drivers ? Why drive between 30 - 40 mph with sheep either side of the road. Not a chance of bringing such a vehicle to a safe emergency stop, at that ridiculous speed. My first port of call was Whitby train station. I've booked the train back to Leeds. Will happily lose the cost of the return Coastliner journey. Absolutely horrendous driving. I've been driving 38 years. Never have I experienced anything like that, ever. Booked via National Express, expected a coach, with a toilet. Only to be told its a double deck service bus......... no loo.
