9 days of downtime and virtually no support
On August 19, shortly after upgrading my Oracle Cloud account from Always Free to PAYG, my A1.Flex instance was disabled again.
The OCI Console simply showed:
“Instance is disabled and will not accept any action requests. Please contact customer support to reenable.”
There was no warning, no explanation, and no way to re-enable the instance myself.
Then things got even worse: I discovered that I had no working access to Oracle Support.
The Support Center returned:
MOS validation failure. Support account does not exist. HttpStatus 403.
And support.oracle.com returned:
Tenancy not found, please sign in with a different tenancy or use your Oracle account.
I tried email and online chat, but getting actual technical support turned into a nightmare. Eventually, I managed to reach a human agent through a separate My Oracle Support account. They created SR 4-0003568309 and told me it could take up to 48 hours to fix the issue.
It didn't.
I was repeatedly redirected to the OCI chat, which was handled by AI with no option to reach a human technical agent. I kept asking for an update, but after more than 48 hours I was still getting generic responses like “your request is still being processed.” Eventually, I was told to check the status myself in Oracle Support — which I still couldn't access.
After several more attempts, another SR was eventually created: SR 4-0003622267.
On August 28 — nine days after the outage began — I finally received an email saying that my Oracle Support access had been restored.
And even then, the server didn't immediately come back online. I had to create yet another SR, 4-0003644171, and wait another ~3 hours before my instance was finally restored.
The result: 9 days of downtime.
This is an extremely disappointing experience, especially for a PAYG customer.
I can understand that Oracle may disable an instance for security, abuse prevention, or other reasons. What I cannot understand is why a paying customer can be left without:
any explanation for the shutdown;
any self-service recovery option;
working access to Support;
a way to contact a human technical engineer;
or any meaningful status updates.
The biggest problem wasn't even the initial instance shutdown. It was Oracle's support system itself.
Nine days of downtime, multiple SRs, broken Support access, and being repeatedly sent to an AI chatbot is simply not an acceptable support experience for a paid cloud service.
Oracle Cloud may offer attractive pricing and infrastructure, but if something goes wrong, be prepared to spend a lot of time fighting the support system before anyone actually fixes your problem.
Weeks of failed provisioning and contradictory account deletion
I opened an Oracle Cloud Free Trial account with a verified credit card to evaluate OCI as infrastructure for paying business clients.
For several weeks, I repeatedly attempted to provision a small Ampere A1 instance with only 1 OCPU and 6 GB of RAM in the Toronto region. Every attempt failed with “500-InternalError, Out of host capacity.” Oracle provided no availability estimate or practical alternative.
I eventually abandoned the platform, destroyed all resources, confirmed there were no costs, deleted the Terraform stack, and requested termination of the tenancy.
Oracle then emailed me stating that the tenancy had been permanently deleted. However, I could still sign in, the tenancy continued to appear as Active, and my personal information remained visible. I had to spend additional time checking whether my account, billing information, and personal data had actually been removed, and I ultimately opened a formal support request.
This experience cost me weeks of time and gave me no confidence that Oracle Cloud could provide the availability, administrative clarity, or predictability required for client projects.
terrible cmpany and terrible support…
terrible cmpany and terrible support and terrible interface absolute garbage
This is hands down the worst customer…
This is hands down the worst customer support I've ever experienced. I have talked to several live agents, and I can't gain access or delete my account because of 'internal' tickets.
Total waste of time! They steal your data first, then "out of capacity"
I spent almost two hours trying to setup a free tier account for my bots projects. The whole register process is super agressive. They forced me to do strict bank card verification, sms, and put all my personal data... everything went throug and I thought it was ok.But when you finally complete the infinite form and click create, boom: "Out of capacity for shape VM.Standard.A1.Flex". I tryed changing fault domains and nothing works in Madrid region. As a CCNA guy, I know how server infra works, and this is just bad faith from Oracle. They know they have zero ARM capacity right now, but they still trick you to complete the hole process just to harvest your banking info and data first.Dont fall into this trap. If they don't have servers available, they should block the registration BEFORE you give them all your life. Im deleting my account right now and requesting a GDPR deletion. Unbelievable for a big company... dont waste your time here.
Terrible experience
Terrible experience. I used the cloud for a few days, but at one point it stopped working. I couldn't log in to the panel, despite resetting my password several times. I finally contacted support, and three days later, I received a response that my account had been blocked and would remain that way. No prior notice, no explanation. Absolutely awful.
My server were removed without notice…
My server were removed without notice at all,
Support is revenge and will disable ur account if you'll contect them
Awful support
I tried many times with many different cards to sign up for a free tier but it kept rejecting all my payment methods. I contacted the assistance and, after 1 week of delay, they told me that there is nothing they can do and cut the conversation there. I cannot think about a worse support than this.
This is the worst customer support I have ever seen.
I signed up for the always free cloud service, and was charged twice although they have stated that there's no payment. After the payment went through and the amount was deducted, I got an error stating that I have been "masking" my location while I did nothing wrong. I have emailed their support and it has been 72 hours and no answers!
I have tried to register but…
I attempted to register, but the system repeatedly rejected my registration - even though my phone number was verified and my card was successfully charged.
The suggested workaround was to contact support (since the registration form has huge number of bugs). After waiting 5 days and sending a reminder, I finally received this response:
“Unfortunately, we are unable to resolve this or process the transaction. This is all the information we can provide.”
This is extremely frustrating. My payment was taken, the system doesn’t work, and support is unable to offer any solution or meaningful explanation. Completely unacceptable experience.
the servers are just too laggy
the servers are just too laggy, and their "free tier" that they offer you is always with full capacity but there is a workaround where you "pay as you go" and then oracle free tier works but that just a goal so once they get ddossed because their ips are literally worse than digitalocean they will just charge you hidden fees for "extra bandwidth" or stuff like that, its a scam if something sounds too good to be true it most likely is
I attempted to sign up for the cloud…
I attempted to sign up for the cloud service, but after my card was approved, I got error after submitting . I tried 3 different cards with the same result. I contacted live chat, but they redirected me to email support. Despite their promise to respond within 48 hours, I have received no reply. Overall, a very disappointing onboarding experience.
Scammers - Steal credit card details
They are scammers. They just take active credit card information that has no OTP checking and then suddenly started charging you using 3rd party gateways. What a scam! How they even exist!
Be aware of these scammers!
Nothing exists for “Free forever”, it’s a trap to steal your credit card data and information.
Stay alert and don’t enter your card details there.
Same problem already reported by…
Same problem already reported by others, Account TERMINATED without notifications or explanations, Care wont help and you hours of work will be lost with all your data and scripts.
BEWARE there is NO ALWAYS FREE account with them.
And once you had one free account you CAN NOT open a second, so your backups WONT work
This is why the company is strugling, you dont make business like this, buldinz ZERO TRUST in their solutions
My evaluation for their services has ended with the LOWEST socer ever.
Broken website full of bugs
Broken website full of bugs
nothing works! support send you on a loop and payment system is broken
what a mess!
Beware
Beware – Misleading "Always Free" service and zero real support
I signed up for Oracle Cloud because they advertise an “Always Free” tier. My experience has been full of disappointment and dishonesty.
I created only one free instance, but the system still shows misleading resource limits and confusing compartment details.
The VM that was supposed to be 1 GB RAM actually reports only ~500 MB usable memory, while system tools confirm this discrepancy.
Support is practically non-existent. Instead of getting a proper explanation, all I received were generic and unhelpful responses. It feels like the service is being run by a local reseller company with no transparency.
When I wanted clarity about whether resources were actually allocated as promised, there was no clear answer. Instead, I was left completely on my own.
This is not what I expect from a global company. If you value your time, honesty, and real technical support, I strongly suggest avoiding Oracle Cloud’s “Always Free” offer. It’s misleading at best and feels like a scam at worst.
