Couldn’t fault City Mountaineering.
We chose City Mountaineering to trek to the Summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Stu was excellent, reassuring, patient & knowledgeable.
Myself & my son got to the top BUT definitely wouldn’t have without Stu !

Have been taking trips with Stu (City Mountaineering owner) since 2019. The most recent one was The KILIMANJARO trip just over 3 weeks ago. I could never have made it to the roof of Africa without Stu and the local teams support and motivation. The excursions have always been well organized, the attention to detail is exemplary, diet specifications are catered to, most gears/equipments are provided for, and SAFETY is always key priority. You can have a worry free trip knowing you are under the leadership of seasoned guides with excellent knowledge base of the mountain, and with first aid and safety skills handy when the need arises. Every penny worth the spend, highly recommended.

The best if you want off-beaten tracks and amazing adventure hiking trips led by Stu and/or his experienced team. I've joined many long trips for the last few years within UK including recent Kilimanjaro with CityMountaineering and each and every trip is well managed with supportive and friendly group. I always feel safe and in good hands at all times.

I did a weekend trip, hiking up Snowdon one day and then Cnicht on the next. The travel arrangements, stay and the excellent Mountain Leader made it such a memorable experience. Everything was well thought out and organized, with room for change depending on the needs of the group.

This is the 5th trip I have booked with City Mountaineering. Stuart and his team are an absolutely pleasure to spend time with.

My latest 12 hour challenge (Yorkshire 3 Peaks) would not have been achievable without the encouragement, guidance and expertise of the guides. The group of 18 managed to do this challenge within the stipulated time with hikers arriving in from 8 1/2 hours. A great bunch of hikers too.

Went on the Winter Ascent Ben Nevis trip and it was truly an incredible experience and Stuart was a brilliant guide. He helped me feel at ease when my nerves got the better of me at some points and I left feeling accomplished and words cannot describe the elation enough! Lots of learning, laughter and winter hiking. Couldn’t have asked for more! Lovely team atmosphere. Cannot wait to book my next trip to improve my skills more and see more of the beauty the mountains of the UK have to offer!

Stuart has always been a brilliant guide

Stuart was an amazing guide - super knowledgeable, super fun and taught us so much! The whole trip was planned so well and was pitched at the perfect level! Will definitely be back for more!

A great trip up in Scotland doing winter skills. Stuart was great, had a huge knowledge base and super friendly. Definitely will be booking more trips! Would recommend to everyone.

Stuart and his team do a great job at designing and guiding these adventures.

They go out of their way to make sure everyone is okay, all the trips I've been on have been super informative around the landscape, history and types of nature.

Safety is never compromised and is hold dear to City Mountaineering. I already have another 3 trips booked!

The best way to explore the UK nature and enrich your knowledge about mountaineering from every aspect - from practical techinques and tips to vegetation, wildlife and atmospheric conditions. Stuart is extremely experienced and very well organized. Time well spent with great surroundings and lots of fun is always guaranteed with City Mountaineering. At the end of every trip I'm already thinking when to book the next one :)

The best way to disconnect and recharge, to get away from the city and into the mountains, to enjoy the calm and beauty of nature. This is what City Mountaineering offers and I can't recommend enough.

I have been on over 15 trips with City Mountaineering... I just keep coming back. Stuart and the team are so enthusiastic about the mountains and the trips are always amazing. They have taken me wild camping, hiking, scrambling and climbing in Wales, Scotland, the Lake District and Peak District. My preference is always the expeditions, but weekends are easy to fit in, with transport included.

Exceptional service and well organised trips! Stuart is a thoughtful and competent leader that I quite literally trust with my life. He has an amazing depth of knowledge and I come away from a trip having learned so much from him. I can't recommend City Mountaineering highly enough and look forward to taking many more trips with Stuart and team.

Organised exactly the right way for people arriving straight from London. All instructions were very clear, Stuart was always very responsive. The hikes were fun and very smooth. An authentic travel plan for a weekend into the mountains from the city! I recommend!

Everything was just so smooth. All was organised perfectly from the beginning to the end.
Even with -2 degrees over the night I felt really warm and enjoyed so much the trip post lockdown in the Lake district: scrambling the striding edge of Helvellyn.
It was even luxury to have our own individual portable loos in order to avoid any covid transmission. Stuart is a chill guy but at the same time really organised

I’ve been hiking with Citymountaineering for 4 years now and it’s always been a pleasure. I love only having to show up and the rest is already taken care of. This scrambling weekend started with a smooth train journey, then short transport by minibus to the camp site where the tents were already pitched (thank you Stuart!). In glorious weather we scrambled up a gully on Saturday and a ridge on Sunday and did some lovely hiking with great views in addition to that. Stuart made sure we were always safe and we could opt for a rope, even if it was just for peace of mind. A very small and friendly group and always enough time to ask questions about hiking, nature, surroundings or anything else really. Thank you for a brilliant weekend!
