Photographer needs some basic lessons in photography

Received an email confirming Prom photos are available from my son's school. Great photos of the students spoilt by terrible staging with car park and temporary metal fence, tatty edge of red carpet and drain cover in the photographs. Whoever took these photos needs to learn some rudimentary elements in photography. At £15 per download these photos are terrible and over priced. Glad I took some photos of my son and friends at home before leaving.

While we always strive to capture students beautifully and to the highest standard, we are not able to control the aesthetic of the venue and in this case, the area in which the children are arriving at the venue on the day, including temporary venue fixtures and access areas. Our photographers are trained to work professionally and sensitively in the conditions provided, but some elements are simply outside our control.

Very LOW quality for HIGH Price

Very LOW quality for HIGH Price, it was the choice of our children school this year...we do not recommend. 2 Stars for the photographer, 0 for the quality of the printing and the paper.

Really low quality photos

Really low quality photos - this is the first time my daughter's school has used this new photographer for class pictures and the quality is absolutely terrible. The pictures themselves are very low resolution and the lighting is awful - you would genuinely get a better photo on your phone. On top of that, the prices are extortionately high, and much smaller than the sizes offered by the previous photographer. Comparing her class photo this year to those of previous years just highlights how much worse they are. Really really disappointing, especially as my daughter is in year 6 so it's the last picture she'll have of her class at primary school.

Wish I’d come here first before purchasing

This was my son’s final school photograph — a one-off moment — and what I received for £29 plus postage and packaging is frankly embarrassing.

The order consisted of one 8x6 and one so-called 13x6 print, both unframed, loose, and offering zero presentation. At this price point, not even including a basic paper frame shows a complete disregard for value and customer expectation.

Calling a 13x6 “large” is misleading at best. With dozens of students squeezed into the image, you genuinely need a magnifying glass to identify your own child. Charging premium prices for a photo where your child is barely recognisable is unacceptable.

Let’s be honest about the numbers. The cost to print two small photos is minimal. If just 150 parents purchased this package, that’s around £6,000 taken in a single day, minus very modest travel and printing costs. This is not quality photography — it’s exploiting parents during milestone moments.

I feel misled and ripped off. Had I seen the volume of similar negative reviews beforehand, I would never have ordered. This experience has completely soured what should have been a meaningful keepsake and says a lot about the priorities of this company.

We constantly strive to make our pricing as affordable as possible for parents whilst ensuring we can still retain excellent quality and service for all our customers.

Like other service providers, there are many costs involved in producing the high-quality images our customers expect - from investing in highly trained photographers and top-of-the-range equipment through to the time invested in travel, photography and editing, among many other factors. It’s also worth noting that we only receive a return on this investment if parents choose to purchase their photos.

In respect of print sizes, we do not offer extra large prints as standard, as this helps us to keep postage and packaging costs as low as possible for parents, while still maintaining the quality and sharpness of the images provided.

Ensuring these memories are accessible to all families is at the heart of what we do.

Poor print quality

Poor print quality. Class photo is really odd - background is pure white and looks like the children have been cut out. No mounts included in expensive 'gold' package so I had to buy extra frames on top to give photos as gifts. Wish my child's school had gone with Tempest which provides a better service.

Photos are very poor quality and expensive

Photos are very poor quality - class photograph in particular is very dark. Quality of printing and lack of mounts included for what is quite a high price will make me think twice about ordering again if the same company is used by my son’s school in future.

AVOID!!

Our school used this lady for the class photos and if I’m honest I can’t believe that they have any professional experience in either taking photos or editing them. They are just horrendous! Stark white background, kids looked stunned, barely any are smiling. The general quality is just really low. Please avoid!!

In terms of the background, the style of photography used is determined by the school and while many opt for a traditional full-class group photo, some schools do choose our contemporary composite style. We understand that preferences can vary and we're sorry if the photo didn’t meet your expectations.

Capturing natural smiles in a fast-paced school setting is always our goal and our photographers are trained to create a comfortable environment and encourage authentic expressions for every student but we cannot completely control the expressions of the children.

All our photographers have rigorous professional training and work with high-quality equipment to deliver consistent results. Nonetheless, your feedback is important to us. I hate my photos

I hate my photos. My yearbook photos came in today I had been preparing for days in advance on the day I looked great, everything was on point. Today they come back and I've gone from youthful and blonde to "post- drug abuser" it's awful not to mention I have a double chin in the other photo. In addition to this they had re coloured my hair and somehow shortened it which was evident when compared to my group photos. I've now had to ask for my previous photo to be used instead. I cannot belive the wickedness from this company not to mention the extortionate prices for something my villages goat could take.

graduation photo and…

I just received my graduation photo and I am so very dissapointed with the quality. Not only the picture is blured , the shaddow covering my neck produces a double chin effect. Terrible amateur lighting job and for £34 per photograph I think it is better to ask a family member to have a try. Feeling embarrased to share this photo with anybody.

Only took 2 photographs of my son that…

Only took 2 photographs of my son that we could choose from. Both were very disappointing especially for his first school photo. He’s only 4! It takes more than 2 photos to get a decent image of a child and these are supposed to be professional photographers.
Had to choose the best one of the 2 disappointing photos as it was his first school photo. Let’s hope next year’s is better or the school uses a different more local company. His nursery photos were lovely from a local photographer.

As school photographers, we aim to capture each child’s unique smile and character, but on school photo days we are required to photograph hundreds of children within a very short time frame, so lesson time is not disrupted for the school or the children. This sometimes means we have only a brief moment with each child and can't always offer a large range of poses, but we always do our very best to make those moments count.​

High quality school photos

Carmel Jane is the photographer at my daughter's school for the last 3 years, and has also photographed her ballet group previously.
The quality of these photos are outstanding and I've never seen anything that comes close from another school photographer. You can see in the photos that they take time to get the children relaxed, and they make adjustments to be sure the kids look their best. I can also see from the photos (as an amateur photographer myself) that they subtly touch up the photos, for example brightening the eyes.
Compared to my other child's school photographer, the prices are reasonable as well.

Extremely disappointed

Extremely disappointed , sent me a
Different Childs picture instead of my sons . Clearly a breach of data protection. Did absolutely nothing about it.
