Used to be good, now considering not using anymore
Have used Carhood a few times and they haven't disappointed. However, they have been slipping in terms of customer service, response time and even taking care of my car.
I had to call to confirm my after hours pick up, as my times were after hours - got no e-mail or Uber link, etc. Otherwise, I would not have been able to get the Uber link or even ensure my keys were put in a paddlock. In the past, I didn't have to pay the Uber fee to get my car afterhours and this time I had to.
Furthermore, when my car was returned, it was cleaned very poorly, compared to when I left the car really clean, which means in the end, with the money I made, I have now lost money having to wash my car again.
I used to trust Carhood and am usually a loyal customer that would recommend Carhood, but not sure now.

Good arrangement from airport to Carhood, and also from Carhood to airport in the early morning.
The car provided are good and procedure very simple. Godd.
I will use Carhood in the futrue visit to Sydney.

Average Service....
Waiting in the freezing wind at the airport (because they were quite late to pick us up) wasn't a nice start, neither was having our luggage come flying out the back of the van upon arrival at their depot.
The vehicle we had booked was changed on us, so we really had no choice but to go with what they gave us.
We had to take photos of the vehicle we were given as it already had marks on it, but the vehicle drove well enough so no problem there.
In all honesty, I'd say the service was fairly average all round.

I booked a small car Ford festiva and on arrival at the airport I was up graded to a Holden Caprice at no additional charge
Car was great pick up and drop off service was great I will be using Carhood again

The service was excellence. We arrived at melbourne at 6.30 in the morning yet the car is ready, and they arranged good pick up for us at the airport. Thanks CarHood

Carhood Brisbane Airport
My wife and I used Carhood at Brisbane Airport.
Overall it was excellent value for money. The depot is away from the airport itself and we had some trouble trying to find the pick-up point at the airport. A map or some clearer instructions would help next time. The rep was good though and we arranged to meet outside the airport hotel. Pick-up at the depot was quick and simple as was the drop-off. I would use them again.

Affordable car rental experience
Very affordable rental car with pleasant car condition. Free Uber transportation provides customer with much more convenience. I will surely put carhood into my 1st rental priority.

Great value for money
Staff were great! However, woman at desk at drop off needs to work on her personality, smile, and not be so negative. Excellent price though, all other staff were awesome and car was really nice. Late model VW Golf.

staff were very helpfull, but when dropping the car off were busy with other customers and said they
would do the car check later.....didn't want to leave it, but had time restrictions and had to trust they were honest. Did get deposit back, so very relieved. Car was quite good, brakes needed adjusting.

Far from Melbourne airport. We were waiting more than an hour for the shuttle at the airport, it was very difficult to call the customer service, there was some waste into the car, disappointed in the whole experience.

Carhood service at Melbourne
It was my first experience with carhood where I used a swift 2014 model for 3 days to Great Ocean Road. They have arranged me an Uber to pick me from Tullamarine where I was cordially greeted at their office. A young lady at the reception was so friendly and she explained evey rules of the compnay. Service is very excellent since I booked for a 2007 i20 model, later changed to swift 2014 since the former was not available on the date by the company itslf for same price. They arranged a dropoff as well. Next time also I will take up the service of the company and recommend for others too ☺️

In principle ok but cannot recommend due to hidden charges and poor service.
We were charged $40 (more than the daily rental rate) per hour after not returning our car on time. I had not realised that when they asked me when I would return the car that they would hold me to it. I thought this was more like an estimate (similar to hotel check-in). I was also not informed about this strict policy, neither did I get any contract that stated this condition.
Hence, rental prices look very cheap as carhood probably hopes that people return the car late.
I did send them a notification to discuss this matter to which I never got an answer. Sorry carhood, don't be disappointed about the 1-star rating. You had the chance.

haven't returned my deposit for two…
haven't returned my deposit for two weeks. i have email several times but doesn't help. then i try to call couple of times and no one picked. finally some obe picked and fix it after two weeks

Poor customer service. Go in with both eyes wide open.
Two things you should know before using this service:
1) Repairs: If at any time Carhood determines your car is not "roadworthy", they will email you saying you can either 1) have them do the repair(s) including an "admin fee" or 2) you will be charged a daily parking fee of $25AUD. They do not provide a checklist of what makes a card roadworthy and it's entirely at their discretion.
I left my car with them for 3 weeks and was forced to have them do 2 repairs including replacing a tyre that had been purchased new only 4 months early. I had to trust their word that the tyre had been damaged before I dropped the car off.
2) You have 48 hours after your car is returned to you to determine if there is any damage to your car and submit a claim. Any attempt to submit a claim after 48 hours will be refused. You are not informed of this policy when you use Carhood.
A Carhood renter using my car blew out my cigarette outlet / phone charger. I did not determine this until 72 hours after my car was returned to me.
Bottom line: With Carhood, the customer is not always right. I felt taken advantage of and my concerns were met with apathy and impoliteness.

What a brilliant way to start a holiday with knowledge that your car was in safe hands with professional people.....took us to airport and collected us all on time....then to drive home in a clean car that was also rented....so we made money also.....bonus!....i will be sharing this experience with all my friends. ...thank you again. ..Meegan and Geoff (Central Coast)

Top company to deal with.
I have no reservations with dealing with this company.
Delivery and pick up were without hassle and the car was returned in perfect order.
Communication was perfect and an issue whereby their toll tag was faulty resulting in my receiving 10 toll notices, was sorted out promptly and without issue.
Indeed, after a phone call we agreed that I would absorb the toll fees to my account and they would happily reimburse me. This happened smoothly.
In essence it is wonderful to deal with an organisation where when an inadvertent issue occurs, the matter is simply sorted out.
Well done. A terrific service. I recommend them highly.

Don't do it!
Communication with Carhood was terrible, we were stranded at the airport for hours, then told to rent a taxi ourselves. It's now been six weeks, and I still haven't been reimbursed. My car was returned to me damaged - a huge section cut out of the carpet at the driver's side - I wish I could post a photo here. Carhood or the renters had placed a foot mat on top, so I didn't notice for a while. I was sick when I returned and didn't drive for a week. When I noticed, Carhood told me that it was 'too late'. When I insisted, they said they'd contact the renters, and there was nothing they could do. I'm still waiting to hear a month later, but know that I never will. Really disappointing experience, the company has no integrity.
In response to Carhood's response: Yes, and that is why I would urge anyone to stay away from carhood. It was dark, there was a foot mat placed over the damage, and by the time we finally got to the car it was after 11.00pm, as you didn't manage to get an Uber to us. So there was no-one there to do the handover, and I didn't get the opportunity to sign anything with you. Whatever your agreement says, you didn't take good care of my car, you didn't check for damage when the renters returned it. I did provide very clear photographic evidence, which you accepted. Your assurance that you take good care of the cars placed with you weren't worth anything to me. Considering all the circumstances I would have thought that a company that advertises like you do would at least take some responsibility for such unusual damage as part of your customer service. The only thing I did wrong was that I notified you of the damage too late, as I was sick when I returned. The car still got damaged, your customer service was still terrible, and now you're telling me that I'm getting the money you owe me mid-September? I picked up my car in early July, so that means you're making me wait over two months for the money you owe me for the taxi you didn't manage to get to me? No apology, nothing. Really bad service.

Good concept poorly executed and zero customer service
Things went quite well when arriving to leave our car in Sydney. However, on the return, we were instructed to take a taxi back to the Carhood depot as at the last minute as they didn't have enough staff to collect us albeit we had phoned on arrival and all was ok at that stage. When we arrived at the depot, I noticed our car (which was further inside the garage) had its lights and ignition on. As I approached the counter after waiting 5-10 mins to retrieve our keys, there was a look of shock on the customer service persons face as she had mistakenly handed our keys to another customer and they were about to drive off in our car (fortunately they were on a phone call inside our car). If we had of been 5 minutes later, our car would have left the depot without anyone signing for it. It is over 30 days since we have returned and as yet I have not received the funds for 12 days use nor the reimbursement for the taxi. I have tried calling on at least 3 occasions to get no answer and when I sent an e-mail last week I received an automatically generally response that someone would contact us within 2 days. That was 5 days ago and still no response. Never again

Everything went smoothly - the staff at the Brisbane depot were efficient and helpful and my car was rented out for nearly all the time we were away (a month). It was also really clean on our return. My only criticism is that I have to wait a month for payment from the end of the listing, which seems a little unfair considering Carhood received payment from the people who hired my car many weeks ago!
