Yelp is a scam. Their rep called me and said i would be given a $450 credit for advertising. I told her I don't want emails just phone calls for my plumbing business. I didn't receive 1 phone call & they charged me $339.00. What happened to the calls & credit that I was supposed to get. This company is a scam for business owners. Don't use them for advertising. The agent failed to include rental car insurance when I have had it since 2019. Now I have to get my car repaired and I find out that I do not have rental car insurance because the agent did not include it when I added my new car to my insurance, even though historically I have had rental car insurance since 2019. Now I am not able to get my car repaired because the rental car I need is not covered.

I have paid thousands of dollars the past 18 months for marketing customer service constantly calls me and tells me the last person that everything wrong and they try to up sell me even though I tell them it’s OK where it is. They continue to press until you get upset and say you’re fired. I used to pay like $800 a month maybe get 75 leads then I went down to 50 then 40 then when I went to cancel, they say oh well give me an extra month for free so you would expect 150 leads over those two months and it’s still ended up being close to 50 total do not use this company for marketing

SCAM SCAM SCAM you pay for phhone calls from Indians who trying to scam you. I Canceled this ads after a few days and explain this scheme to them but they are still trying to charge me! It's 100 % scam

Predatory, rude, and pushy sales tactics. Billy Anderson was completely rude to me and my staff. Its amazing they stay in business considering how they treat people

Do not go for this Yelp Ad, its totally fraud. Tehy will tell you as you can cancel anytime, but it will never happen and they will upgrade automatically and money will be taken from your credit card. I am warnign you guys dont register and get into their trap. they looted 350$ 4 months and despite of several calls never refunding.

Downright fraudulent practices! If you do not pay to just have control of how your photos are displayed on your own account, they display the worst ones. It's just extortion. A while back I had to cancel my business credit card and get a new one. I decided not to update it with Yelp to pay for their extortion anymore. They harassed me by phone and email constantly. After they gave up they sent me a notice only acknowledging my "program cancellation". Later they sent me a bill for more than 3x as much as my monthly payment. Any normal business stops service if you stop paying, but Yelp will keep providing "service" and then try to back bill you. I called the number on the email and got an agent right away, and the lady just told me the bill was my own fault, and that she'll note that I don't intend to pay it. I told her if it goes to collections I'll take legal action. She then said "since you've said you'll take legal action, I'm forced to disconnect that call", and hung up on me. Forced, whatever. I'm trying to call back now and have been on hold for a LONG time.

Update: I called back from a different number and got through right away. I told the guy that I was hung up on because the last person just wouldn't listen to me and because I said I'll have to take legal action if they do not fix this. He said they cannot help with legal issues, and I informed him again that I'm not asking them to, I'm asking them to correct the billing issues. He just reiterated that it's policy to hang up on people if they mention anything about legal issues, and told me to call Customer Success. Only a scam company would hang up on you for asking them to correct fraudulent billing and let them know you'll protect yourself if they don't.

2nd UPDATE: They sent an email about "legal action" to my our general contact email address, and to the old owner's email WHO LEFT THE BUSINESS 15 YEARS AGO AND DIED 4 YEARS AGO. They have no idea what is going on with their accounts. I called Customer Success and they said they can't help me and I'll have to speak to the same department that hung up on me twice. She then transferred me, and the call auto-disconnected. There is NO recourse.

Absolute rip off and disgusting sales practice with trials that run off with costs as soon as they get your cc number this business should be sued out of existance. 1.5 months I got nothing but spam from pakistan and not one paying customer

A truly disgusting business model. If you don't pay yelp, what a surprise, your yelp listing looks bad. They hide/discount positive reviews from REAL customers, which, if you were a paying customer, they would gladly restore. Then they turn around and allow your competitors to makeup a new account with zero reviews, and leave a negative review over absolute nonsense, which they would gladly hide, if only you would send them some shakedown money. Shame!

If you pay yelp, what a surprise, your yelp looks pretty good (still not great, because it's yelp). Oh, and by paying them, you give them capital to continue to shakedown real businesses that provide real goods and services. I honestly can't believe it's legal.

If you work for yelp and you are reading this, I am not exaggerating in the slightest. The company you work for is the opposite of productive. They are actively harming good businesses and allowing bad actors to manipulate your system. Find a more honorable job ffs.

They let you set up a free trial, then proceed to LOCK you out of your account where the webpage loads forever/indefinitely EVERY time you try to go to the page to cancel your membership. There should be a class action lawsuit filed against these scumbags, there’s intentional code in their system that does this im 100% sure of it. I even emailed them to cancel the subscription and it still attempted to renew and charge my card $60!!!! I stopped using their site and closed down mine weeks ago! Too bad I don’t have money in that account. Hahaha you arent getting my money, retards.

As a business owner, I deeply regret my decision to advertise on Yelp. My experience with its paid advertising services and review policies has been extremely disappointing.
Before joining Yelp, I had already established an excellent reputation on Google through hard work, professional service, and genuine customer feedback. I decided to expand my business’s online presence by advertising on Yelp, believing it would help prospective customers discover my services and contact me directly.
Unfortunately, my experience was very different from what I understood during Yelp’s verbal advertising presentation.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH YELP ADVERTISING
During verbal sales discussions, my understanding was that I was paying to promote my business so customers could discover my services and specifically contact me.
Instead, Yelp regularly sent general service inquiries through its app. Many prospective customers I spoke with had simply been searching Yelp for services and had not specifically requested my company. Some did not even recognize my business name.
Yelp also repeatedly sent inquiries for jobs outside my advertised scope of work. Other prospective customers never responded or did not provide phone numbers.
Although I completed a few jobs through Yelp, the results did not justify the substantial advertising expenses.
I felt misled by the verbal advertising presentation because the service I experienced did not match what I understood I was purchasing.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH YELP’S REVIEW PRACTICES
Another disappointing experience involved Yelp’s handling of a negative review posted against my business.
The review contained statements and characterizations that I considered misleading and damaging to my professional reputation. I fully respect everyone’s right to express an honest opinion, including negative experiences. However, I believe there should be a clear distinction between expressing dissatisfaction and publishing misleading information or unsubstantiated accusations about a business.
When I initially contacted Yelp to discuss the situation, I recall being told during a telephone conversation that the reviewer was considered an important contributor to the platform, which made me question how Yelp evaluates disputed reviews.
I subsequently requested reconsideration and removal of the review twice, explaining my concerns about the accuracy of the statements. Both requests were denied.
The review was edited multiple times, yet Yelp continued to display it despite my complaints.
My concern is not about preventing honest customer feedback. It is about transparency, consistency, and fairness in how Yelp evaluates disputed reviews and responds to legitimate concerns raised by business owners.
This experience left me questioning whether Yelp’s review policies are applied consistently and whether business owners receive fair consideration when challenging information they believe is misleading or inaccurate.
MY FINAL EXPERIENCE AND DECISION TO LEAVE YELP
After spending a substantial amount on advertising over several months, receiving numerous inquiries that did not meet my expectations, and experiencing Yelp’s handling of my review dispute, I decided to cancel my advertising campaign in September 2026.
Looking back, I deeply regret my decision to advertise on Yelp. My experience with its advertising services and handling of disputed reviews has left me extremely disappointed.
I encourage other business owners to carefully research Yelp’s advertising practices, understand how customer inquiries are generated and distributed, and obtain clear written information before committing to paid advertising.
I believe transparency, fairness, and accountability should be fundamental principles of any company offering advertising services to business owners.
My experience with Yelp has been deeply regrettable, and I hope sharing it helps others make more informed decisions.

Do not ever post your company on yelp. My experience is I closed my business and they keep adding it back they are the reason I had to close it. Someone wrote a review and it was not about my company and I told them and they never would take the review down but what they did do is they took all the good reviews down. This company will destroy you company stay away from them. They also will charge you even when you don't order anything from them. They need to be shut down for good

After being honest about service, food and experience (all really bad) for restaurants in Maine, it is obvious Yelp only accepts good reviews of and for their paid advertisers (I worked in advertising, marketing, sponsorships for 30 years). They don’t post the truth about the experience, food, waitstaff. Do not use Yelp to share your honest review unless you expect to be flagged, threatened or censored. Didn’t we stop censorship in 2025?

Yelp has simply become a libtard woke “review” site.

But as a Public Relations exec, and Chief Blabber, I’ll just cover the truth about yelp and the peeps I’m yelping in my social media.

I'm giving it one star because there is no way to give lesser than that. They give you $300 credit that runs out so quickly. Then they start charging you without your knowledge. The customer success team conveniently disappears when things get hard and you will get billed for what you never signed up for. This is a total scam. Does nothing great for you business.

How I went on as long as I did is beyond me. This is the biggest scam of all scams in "advertising". Expect a call from a new agent every 3 to 6 months, with nothing more in their agenda than to increase your budget. While providing zero to no service. Try to call them? Forget it. Missed a payment? You will be contacted every hour of every day. Not one agent has ever assisted us on our ad, aside from requesting us to increase our budget for services that they cannot offer or physically produce. they continue to go up in pricing and offer less and less as the years pass on. Save your time and money and seek elsewhere.

This company is a scam my good reviews they got it as no recommend it and I have a negative review from someone i have never met or talked to and that is the one they posted. I and very about to see if I can sue them for misleading customer and getting my company bad reputation.

To put it bluntly, they STOLE from me. I clicked on a free trial and SUDDENLY $30 was gone out of my account. LAST TIME I CHECKED FREE WAS FREE. Day 1, minute 1. Not 2 weeks, not 1 month. They took the money ASAP.

AND THEN they had the indecency to NOT EVEN CREDIT me with the free trial.

This is the worst experience i've ever had with an online free trial.

I have found a common thread among business owners being told that the bad reviews pop up first on yelp because the "algorithms" makes the choice. In actuality it is the businesses that do not advertise with them. I have over 150 reviews with google and a 4.8 star rating. I have 9 on yelp with a 3.5 star. Try and put a review on yelp about yelp and try and submit it and an error occurs everytime telling you to try again later. I guess that's the algorithms at work. Thankfully yelp is becoming irrelevant!

Yelp is a business that extorts businesses. They get you to sign up and there are no fees, once you get enough reviews they hide your reviews, show the least favored and then ask you to pay a fee so all reviews are shown and displayed. If you don’t they just keep your worse ones out and average those out
