Have been waiting for a £180 refund for over 2 months now. Was told it would take 28 days to process. Phone lines always have over 10 people in the queue, employer understanably, wont allow me the time out of my working day to make this unnecessarily long call, have already received a warning for the call i did manage to wait and get through on. All they tell me on twitter is that there is a refund request but they can't tell me anymore because it breaks GDPR. Havnt replied to my email. Would go out of my way not to use any of their services again.

Just received the latest bill for the same PCN, now £189 ,???
Tried emailing, tried calling all day to sort this issue but to no effect. No one is responding to my emails and there is no phone line to the correct department to resolve this issue. I have proof of payment on my bank statement, but yet they send harassment bill's and fretning Court proceedings, don't they know that family's are under so much stress with the cost of living and struggle to deal with this type of bullying.

Miss Ffion Richards from Bristol City Council is completely useless on all levels. She doesn't bother to reply to any my questions.
I sent EIRC certificate in October 2022 and they lost in their office! They did not reply that they did not receive it and want me now to pay a penalty charge for their fault!
The case is going to the court now.

Much like many other reviewers (and I suspect many more to come), I have just become a victim of the emissions zone rip off on my way to the airport. No prior warning about the A370 segment until it was too late, no option to exit before entering the zone and £60 fine for 2 mins in the zone. UTTER THIEVES. This has nothing to do with clean air - if it was they would simply ban cars. It is about revenue generation. Top tip - AVOID BRISTOL ALTOGETHER.
Update: It looks like the online payment system hasn't completed (no surprise as it is run by Crapita) and the phone option would not work either. UTTERLY USELESS

Several months ago I got a rude letter through my door, telling residents to ensure their bins were moved off of the road, after collection. I don't have an issue with receiving a generic letter, but I do have a problem with the wording and the hypocrisy. Each week, I leave my bins out neatly, only to have them either thrown back into my garden or scattered down the road.

I took this opportunity to highlight my concerns to the council. I emailed explaining the above, but also sent some pictures of my road, which is always left filthy after they have been to collect the rubbish. After my complaint (34403637), the council got back to me, taking absolutely no responsibility, despite being the ones to charge me and decide to employ the Bristol Waste Company. I was told they would get back to me - all I got was a useless email, essentially saying my issue wasn't important enough to warrant a reply. Some advice: stop wasting your time with terribly written letters and you might have time to reply.

On 15/03, I got back in touch with the council saying that, not only had I not had a proper response to my complaint, but that there continued to be rubbish left scattered all over my road. I sent yet more images. By 21/04, I still hadn't heard anything and followed up, yet again sharing more images. I asked for a response within a week and here we are... several months later, with no reply and no solution.

Genuinely, the council's complaints team is a waste of money. If they aren't going to actually help council tax-paying citizens, what is the point? Similarly, my council tax has increased this year, yet Bristol Waste Company remain incapable of doing even a basic job. Not only is leaving rubbish everywhere disrespectful, but it also shows a significant lack of pride in their work. I would hope that the staff within both of these hang their heads in shame or, even better, start doing their job.

Very disappointing council. They don’t care about congestion they’re trying to make money off of us. If they really did care about the city’s congestion then they wouldn’t have unnecessary temporary traffic lights around. For example, the bottom of Stoke Lane has had temporary traffic lights for about 6 months now. No maintenance work has taken place at all within those 6 months. They’re just trying to spend the rest of their budget on pointless work that’s ultimately ruining this city. If there’s one thing I could change about this city, it’d be the council.

Bristol City Council Tax Department. I have been waiting three months for an answer to a Council Tax enquiry which is causing me a great deal of distress.
I have had no acknowledgement of the enquiry or any faith in their "System" that anyone is dealing with it.
They are the most heartless and inefficient organisation that I have had the misfortune to come across. As I have withheld funds to try and get an answer I fully expect a Summons for my efforts. If I do I will go to the Government Ombudsman.
All they care about is the money.... I will be glad when I no longer have anything to do with them....

Just thought I'd write this to thank Rob the receptionist at Bristol City Council. He went above and beyond to help with my query, nothing was too much trouble. Well done for employing friendly, helpful staff - makes such a difference to talk to real people instead of chatbots!!

I've had 4 or 5 CAZ penaltys in one week. I hate this new system I can't even notice the sign and when I do it's too late to turn around. I'm allowed to drive my vehicle in the city of Bath with no penalty. But in Bristol my car is over the admission level. They just after money I have none now. No warning straight fines! I hate Bristol now!

If I could put zero I would.
Clean Air Zone charges - i pay now I know, but no sympathy given that the first time it happened I had no idea - Not from Bristol - I appealed, but apparently I should have seen the signs among all of the road layout changes while trying to navigate my way through.

Its implying I deliberately lied - How dare they!!

Completely useless on all levels. 2 elected mayors keen on vanity projects which cost us millions and millions. From the disastrous energy project, to the Beacon via the Arena that never happened it's a
embarrassingly awful. Plus they bullied SEND parents and closed all the public loos and the egotistical mayor opened an office in China I think . Arms length management of waste collection and house building disastrous. Endless blocks of student housing going up at the rate of knots whilst the housing waiting list grows exponentially. Plus students and use council services but pay no council tax.

THERE IS A RAT INFESTATION IN THE HARTCLIFFE BS13 AREA! THE USELESS BRISTOL CITY COUNCIL ARE FULLY AWARE, THEY HAVE BEEN SENT VIDEOS, AND PICTURES OF THE PROBLEM. BUT AS USUAL WITH A COUNCIL THAT ONLY FEATHERS “ITS OWN FAT CAT WAGES NEST” AND ANY MONEY FOR A BIG GREEN BIN TO REPLACE THE BIN WITH A HOLE IN THE BOTTOM THAT THE RATS HAVE BEEN USING AS A FOOD STATION FOR MONTHS IS NOT AVAILABLE. Hi guys, just a quick heads up with regards to bin/recycling collection in Bristol.. BS3/4 collection is so erratic that sometimes our smelly bins are outside and recycling for days before they are collected… Sometimes like this week they are not collected.. Tgeu even make petty excuses(wrong colour containers/a bottle top was left on) not to take our rubbish.. I mean what are we paying so much bloody council tax for? If they can choose and refuse? Neanderthal after all we are helping by recycling as we could just black bag up and bin everything? Then what for the environment? I tell you, it’s just as well the days of Xmas box collections are over or these guys would get a rotten non-recycled banana peel when they knock my door cor my donation to their Xmas box I tell you! It’s really disgraceful and Bristol city council needs to act but as usual it’s the same pathetic excuses-MONEY… Well give us back the part of council tax that we pay for this service, sack them all and we will bring our own rubbish weekly to public recycling and garbage disposal as I for one am sick and tired of this.. thx for listening, Wilsymac

Bristol council just pass a law to take money away from the Brits. I comply with the laws, but when new laws are introduced and you are not informed, they simply issue a fine. It's a tough time right now so they're trying to make as much money out of people as possible.And they earned me double because I had to cross Bristol in one direction to the airport and upon arrival in the other. Letter received 4 weeks after driving to Bristol airport. So another girl in the sport said that I need to pay £9 for first letter and after + £9£ when I will get second letter. And the letter came 9 £ and after 9£ + 60 £. I am shocked by such lies.

The Clean Air Zone penalty charge is utterly absurd!!!!
My brother paid the £60 penalty charge for driving in the city centre...but missed to notice the £9 charge that goes along with the penalty....so been sent another £120 to pay, without the right for an appeal....so had to pay that too....£189 for passing through the center in 5 minutes!!! I am sure this money will be put to good use, to improve air quality for the mostly empty offices and businesses in the centre, whilst all traffic is diverted through adjacent neighbourhoods where families live and children go to school!...I am so impressed by the leadership of our local Council ...what an impressive money making exercise...
In a time of such hardship... you should be ashamed to implement such an absurd and extortionate penalty system for people that live and pay taxes in this city. Don't really like living in Bristol anymore 😔...from one of the nicest cities to live in...to one of the worst...on all levels...

We wanted to try the recycling at hartcliff, I spent half an hour reading instructions and having to sign in, then you have to make appointment, then you have a huge list of do,s and doints, in the end l had had enough, get a grip I wanted to take a few things to the tip not book a court hearing at crown court if you think this is going to encourage people to recycle your your living in la la land

Counsil Bristol City send me a penalty charge for the Bristol Clean Air Zone they writing on the letter that if I pay in 7 days I will pay only 9 pounds but this letter came to my house after 1 month.
And the delay if you will pay after 7 days its 120 pounds.
So how do you expaict from me to pay the amount in 7 days if this letter came to my house after 30 days???
Of corse they will wait more than 7 days to send you this kind of letter so anybody can pay 120 pounds.
More corrupt state city like Bristol Council City I never saw before in my life here in UK.
They want YOUR MONEY and nothing else.
They dont care if you have money or not to pay that amound. They only care how to do servise like this so they can take more money from the citizens.

From perspective of council tenant i must say they do not handle neighbours from hell. Do not carry necessary repairs. Losses documents or pretend you never reported the issue.
Constantly hire cowboy builers to do some work that is not necessary or done in worst possible way which is causing more stress and work.
From perspective of private owner ,leaseholder now i am waiting 6 months from them to acknowledge the documents i filed for planning permission to erect conservatory.?!
As a citizen of Bristol , the town is the total dump, slums, filthy , ugly and mismanaged when it comes to roads, some abandoned buildings, junkies.
The town is an example of world level **** up.
Lots of people I know complain about BCC. Life is not easy but the level of crap BBC is delivering is a joke.

Private Housing team are useless. Had problems with damp and the neighbouring property for 8 months and called Bristol City Council in to intervene after neighbour decided to go incognito.

The person they sent assessed neighbour's property without my presence there so I only put my trust in his report and willingness to help. When he came and inspected my side of the property the inspection he did was exactly the same as the 2x plumbers and 1x damp-proof expert that I had previously asked to investigate before escalating to BCC. After a few months of exchanges with barely two sentences written about the legal framework which governs their work and what legal powers they have to enforce, nor any follow up help around what I could do to identify the cause of the damp as well as long delays in their responses, I eventually complained only to have my complaints upheld twice, still so many questions unanswered. This is NOT GOOD public service! Terrible standards! BCC in need of serious reform!
