I contacted the Book Publishing Pros in late November, and by December 1st, 2025, I decided to join up with them on my latest book.
My agent was Gabriel B. At first, he seemed knowledgeable and remained friendly throughout the process. I asked him how long it would take to get the book published on Amazon. I was told it would take about 5-7 weeks. Needless to say, after pushing him, it took almost 10 weeks. It often seemed like he was overworked with other clients.
I had to admit that I was pleased with the book cover and the job they did. However, I had to correct the spelling of a few names that had been changed during the back-cover formatting.
When I was reviewing the first draft of my manuscript, several dates in the first 5 chapters were changed from US to UK formats. The mistakes persisted as I noticed other edits to my original manuscript. I sent a list of 15 items that needed correction back in the same order I had them. This process took 5 weeks to correct. I even had to correct several items that were not corrected on what they called the final edited and formatted proof.
After 8 weeks of discussing my book (mostly on email), I received 4 pages of promotional pictures. The name of my book was spelled incorrectly on 2 of them. My last name was misspelled on 2. Then, my last name on 2 of the others was different from that on the other 2. How could this happen?
I was not prepared for the pressure-based, sometimes additional requests to purchase services not explained in the original agreement.
They are:
1. The original marketing plan cost $2,500; it was reduced to $1,500 for less coverage, and then to an $800 plan for a minimum package.
2. Expanded word formatting at $625
3. We now add the offer for a website plan to promote your book for $1,500 and place you on their top sellers list.
4. No offer of proof of promotion was offered unless you ordered the Gold Package at $1,500. This includes Basic Social Media Growth Strategy (Organic Engagement) and Marketing Email Marketing Campaign (Targeted Readers & Newsletter Inclusion), Press Release (150+ News Platforms), Amazon Optimization, Amazon Author Central, Book Description & Category Optimization, and A+ Content (Enhanced Book Listing Visuals).
5. Then I had to purchase 3 ISBN numbers at a cost of $125 each. (You can buy them online for less than $25 each. Then they added the cost for UPC codes for 2 books at $75 each, which you had to pay to release your book.
6. The last offer (at the last minute) was a quote for $500 to add an additional DRM cost of $500. They claimed that this was new and that the laws had been changed.
7. Total possible cost if you purchased all the requested options to promote your book on Amazon would have been $7,150.

The service was good. The step-by-step service was pleasant.

My experience with this company has been terrible. I was promised two books in circa 4-6 weeks last year. The proof copies were submitted in 'word' with very few amendments. One of the covers I submitted came back with errors, which I am still trying to sort out myself. They promised 'look inside' feature on the Amazon marketplace, which I am still trying to resolve for one of the books. They also submitted the wrong categories for the books, which I am also still chasing with IngramSpark and Amazon.
