Blown away. Decided to book this as the kids picked as an activity on our way back from Cornwall on our holidays. I was unsure as we have Lincoln Castle and Prison locally to us which we have visited many times and wasn’t sure if it would be much different. What can i say, it was brilliant and a fantastic two hours. The interactivity kept the kids on their toes ( not giving the surprises away) and they both (12 y/o girl and 15 y/o boy) said it was the best part of the holiday. It wasn’t busy despite the rest of Cornwall being so. The restaurant was lovely for a meal afterwards and all thoroughly enjoyed. I can not recommend it enough, make sure you leave yourself 2-3 hours to enjoy it all properly.

Went in 2009 and it was brilliant, was so excited to be going back. What a load of rubbish!! They have completely ruined the place. Totally commercialised it. Ruined the history of it and the structure. Absolute waste of money, fuming is a understatement! Will never be returning.

Absolutely disappointed in this place, somewhat like spraying a rose with plastic coating then spraying the petals with pine disinfectant, would be better suited in a sports hall in a council estate, remove all this added Junk bring back the historic value to this building, even the stories seem de sensitised as not to scare the people from the real truths people pay to here ... disappointed... gift shop somewhat bland, cafe was very un appealing but clean.. never again sorry

I have been going to the jail for many years and I have always had amazing experiences with the old occupants of the jail. I went today with my youngest son who before has not gone with us and I was so disappointed that the whole thing has been changed. There is so much going on with all the lights and recorded voices playing and all the people you are shuffled in with that any chance of an encounter is impossible. After the experience we went to the restaurant where we waited a long time for just our drinks, when they came my coffee was cold as was the gentleman's next to us. The food itself took ages to come and was not as the description on the menu. I am sad to say that I don't think I will be bringing anymore visitors there.

What an absolute diamond of a hotel! LOVED IT.
The rooms were outstanding. We stayed on the 3rd Floor, 3 cells combined into one guest room! Everything you would need for a stay.
The Chapel Restaurant is a must, 5* food and service. Even though they are still a relatively new hotel, they have everything under control. Just needs a little background music in the Champagne Bar!

Great time had by all of our family. Atmospheric place to visit and topped off with wonderful food and drink in the restaurant afterwards. Staff were very helpful expecially restaurant staff who engaged with us comfortably. They made extra space for our group of 6 and baby even during these challenging times for all. Thank you to all for a great experience.

We had been meaning to visit for some time, I'm glad we saved it for the new update. I was really impressed with the whole experience. Our children are 6 and 9 years old, both were fully engaged and interested throughout, and we also found it interesting and informative. The only downside is the price, it wasn't cheap given that we were there two hours, it's not an all-day event.

Very disappointed and quite sad. I think the referb has totally took away all the original history. We have been going for yrs and was shocked and saddened to see all the changes. I understand that things have to move on but this is history, and I’m not saying it’s not looking nice. If it was a mock jail. there is 1 floor left for you to see. And even that looks new.

Had a lovely evening at Bodmin jail for a meal celebrating my brothers 50th birthday,
We were served by a lovely charming lady called “Hailey”
Took care of us as valued customers asking if everything was ok and asked if we needed any thing with our food such as drinks or condiments etc
The meal I had was very nice presented very well and the atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing.
First time i visited the cavern and I would happily recommend to other friends and family.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT I EXPECTED BUT IT WAS'NT ANYTHING LIKE WHAT WE GOT.
IT WAS THE MOST UNBELIEVABLE 2 HOURS I HAVE EVER SPENT WITH MY FAMILY.
IN SPITE OF COVID THIS ATTRACTION IS A FIRST CLASS ATTRACTION WITH UNBELIEVABLE HOLOGRAMS AND STAGED TO PERFECTION.

We visited Bodmin Jail on Friday 30th October at the end of half term and during the pandemic. We live in Cornwall and were in a party of six , grandchildren were visiting. We enjoyed the visit, the food was excellent and not over- priced.
There was a huge problem with social distancing, areas ,in the north of England were in tier 3 and advised not to travel out of the area but they were visiting Cornwall. There was a 10 min gap between each group, so when we were in a small space reading about the history in came the next group so you had to leave quickly and was unable to finish reading. In one small space there was a big plan of the jail and a member of staff was talking to a group of about four people about the model, we did not manage to see anything and got out quickly. I felt that we missed a lot.

A family visit today was genuinely enjoyable for the adults but made our 9yr old quite nervous and really upset our 6 yr old. A warning at online booking stage regarding the VERY LOUD audio, SCARY TALES and the NEAR DARKNESS for the first 15mins would be a good idea imo - we had no idea. We could have happily stayed much longer but the kids were happy to get through and leave ASAP. I would recommend for 11+ but not much younger. Immaculately clean, very polite and helpful staff and a very interesting place for the right audience

We have previously visited around 9 years ago yes that’s a long time and yes I’m all for expanding and improvements but what they have done is not a positive change I spent £30 to get three adults in we were in there for 45 minutes what a waste of a 1.5 hour car journey and money! We were unimpressed at the changes it didn’t have the same feel as it did on our last visits they have really ruined Bodmin Jail which is such a shame. I wouldn’t bother going read about the history online save your petrol and money complete waste of time we were all very disappointed.

We used to go to Bodmin Jail on a reguilar basis. We loved the atmosphere and the food.
Complimentary bread whilst waiting for the food was gorgeous but alas, no longer served even though food prices have risen rapidly.
On the last visit, we had a bowl of potatoes and veg to share between two of us whilst the table for two next to us had a dish each. Our dish of veg was the same size to share as each individual portion next to us.

We were charged £18 a glass for house wine on a previous visit when we took another couple to dine with us.

As we try to avoid confrontation, we emailled Bodmin jail on two seperate occasions with no reply to either. A letter was sent in the post after and still not even a reply.

That to me is just bad business. A simple apology would have been nice
