It saves all the data about clients and…

It saves all the data about clients and its user friendly. Doesn't take time to write about clients visit and it also helps especially on tasks you won't forget do do ant because it's all there on the app. My company has made everything easy by using Birdie.

Using this app.

Using this app.. make me up to date, punctual and active. I have a very good experience by working within my company and using this system.
Sometimes there is location issue, that might happen because of poor connectivity, other than that it’s very good app

Less pay for the employees

No doubt this is an excellent for the employers but not great for the employees. The travelling time wasn’t calculated on a ‘live’ basic or not even according to Google map. It is cut short substantially and part of the actual travelling time part has been translated into ‘waiting time’ which was not paid for. Most carers are on minimum wages already. We all have to work extra hours after waiting time was introduced. This is obviously an advantage for the employer so they can pay us less.

I'm really sorry for any frustration here - but thank you for the candid feedback regarding pay for travel and waiting times.

The way travel time can be currently calculated (especially in urban areas where traffic can affect commuting times) is not ideal, and can have a negative impact. That's why we're currently looking at how to improve the accuracy of travel calculations to ensure they better reflect real-world conditions, and don't negatively impact pay for anyone.

Regarding waiting time, Birdie encourages any employers using our system to compensate fairly for waiting time. In line with HMRC guidance in the UK, waiting time is indeed considered working time. That's why this principle is incorporated into our calculations for the National Living Wage - and why we communicate its importance to any payroll teams on Birdie to help ensure fair and lawful compensation for all work delivered.

I hope this has provided you with some assurance that we're working hard on travel time calculations on our side - and in reference to waiting times, I'd recommend sharing your concerns directly with your employer. Great support and guidance from the Birdie team to migrate from one system to another.
I was provided with one to one Training throughout migration and also once we went live.
James and Sarah have always provided continuous support.

Wonderful!

Recently worked with James and the Birdie Team to transfer our entire organisation onto their system. Cannot rate the experience highly enough. The Birdie Team were always on hand to assist with any queries we had (have), and followed up with regular post-live meetings to ensure we had ongoing support after the transfer. The system is easy to use, versatile and supports our ways of working.

It would be good if you could provide space for the families of those cared for to make notes about the carer visits to include anything that the carers have missed out.

Hello Chris.

I'm sorry for the delay in coming back to you here. This suggestion is something the team here are actually looking into over the coming months - so I hope that in time we'll be able to get this review fully resolved for you.

However I also wanted to provide some context as to why this isn't a part of the family app already.

This additional communication through the family app is actually something Birdie have tested in the past with some of our wonderful homecare partners and families they provide care for. However, in testing, both carers and family members mostly found this feature to be a negative rather than a positive.

Here's what that testing found;
- Lines of communication became blurred, meaning carers acted on prompts from a family member which isn't officially logged by the agency. This could run the risk of then the agency not being able to properly spot, record and avert potential concerns as they don't have a record of the changes.
- There's always a chance that information could come through from a family member (for example, an assurance that medication has been ordered) that for some reason may then not be able to be fulfilled. This could then put the carer in a difficult position, where they have marked something as 'done' or 'ok' when actually it isn't. An official log is the easiest way to keep this from happening, and to keep everyone as safe as possible.
- Finally, most homecare businesses already have clear guidelines on how they communicate with family members, in order to provide the best care to their loved one. Birdie would be hesitant to provide anything which could counteract these thought-through guidelines - as we are just the platform they use to help deliver care, and not on the ground ourselves.
