COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS
COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS. I usually do not pay too much attention to negative reviews, however the poor rating it justified.
I decided to opt for the plug and drive insurance thinking that my good driving would be rewarded, just amazing how wrong i was.
To begin, the plug and play device appears out dated (nokia 3210 equivalent). The first one sent to me actually had rust where the ubs port was to charge my phone, and was not working due to receiving emails to plug the device in.
After spending a large amount of time for a replacement i recent my driving rating. Although continuing to drive safely and at the exact speed limit i received 19 out of 100.
When calling to ask if this device was working, that the Bell representative said it was because of regularly being in traffic, yes traffic.
I calmly explained that i was a health care professional working 9-5, and that there was no way of avoiding traffic. The response was there was nothing that could be done. I added that this was illogical, especially as i live in London, and there isnt anyway in London without traffic. Again i received the same reply.
I highlighted that this scheme was setting people up to fail and the promise of good driving being rewarded was unachievable. There was absolutely no care or interest giving to my points.
Im still shocked.
Plug and Drive device service level
I ordered insurance from Bell (Admiral); they sent me a device for tracking driving with a view to reducing the next premium if it was to their standards. It arrived with no prepaid sticker on the plastic bag. I told them of this, they were not remotely interested when you could actually get hold of them. I complained by email. They eventually advised they were looking into it, but in the meantime told me they would be taking £50 for delay in sending back if it wasn't returned - while the complaint was still ongoing and unresolved. I had to drive to the nearest Post office, supply my packaging and postage, time and petrol. They sent the postage paid packing ages later, then a letter saying they were still looking into the complaint. Another letter saying there was no complaint to uphold stating that the packing has just been received from them. I had sent the stuff back weeks earlier, their interim letter was several weeks after, so a bunch of lies. Regarding the device, every week I got an email advising me not to drive too much. I hardly drive the car in question, and if i didn't, why would I have a car and their Insurance? Contender for the most shambolic company with whom I have ever dealt. Avoid and go elsewhere.

Severe lack of communication
Severe lack of communication. Constant technical errors so no queries can be resolved online leaving no choice but to call the service which then charges you. I have been waiting over a month to hear back from a claim leaving me with an unsafe vehicle and severely out of pocket. The company were useless at resolving the issue and needed persistent chasing. Was left feeling like the company was just taking my money with zero care. Will not be using for my car insurance again.

Worse insurance company ..they are part of admiral apparently..plug & drive just a scam to not give you discount. Scores are ridiculous and clearly fabricated ..penalised fif parking in more than one place & the latest I drive too frequently yet my job is a national sales manager that they were fully aware of when I applied

Worst insurance company ever I been with. Seriously I did not consider the negative reviews and took this insurance and caught by their bait. They did not send the return package and I am threatened to charge £50 even after I reported that I did not receive the return cover and waiting to receive one. Never use them again.

Totally agree with the negative comments regarding the plug and drive unit, unfit for purpose and scores are irrelevant as stated in other comments. As a mature driver with more than 20years ncb and with young drivers on my policy I decided to go with this company. I have now cancelled my insurance with them and now I have to return the plug and drive unit , I have been threatened with a £50 payment if not returned but the pre paid envelope has not been included very conveniently!!!

I wish I read the reviews what I nightmare they are. I took out insurance via a comparison site and paid. When I checked the paerwork somehow the system had defaulted to my previous car. I called up immediately and told them and they said with my new car the premium was double. I said I wanted to cancel, they said there is a fee. I explained it was because of their mistake. They agreed to waive the fee but I can see when they refunded me they deducted £9.50. Disgraceful

i’m a carer i had business insurance and because i was driving so much and parking in different places which is involved with my job as a community carer , they scored me low and threatened to cancel my insurance if it wasn’t improved , ive cancelled it and would never use them again or recommend
Making money by defrauding
Making money. Not a legit firm. Sent some tracker so they can steal and sell data, then cancelled because I supposivelly unplugged it. Causing huge expenses and insurance premium increase. Never mind the hassle.
1) Have never unplugged it, and it remains plugged in 100% of the time, unless broken.
2) I get usage report and score emails every week.
3) I never signed up to be tracked. You’re lucky I even use it.
4) Shouldn’t you perhaps send a notice first to re-plug before cancelling?
Extremely disappointed, considering the insurance was even more expensive than reputable firms.
The scores are not even close to reality
The scores are not even close to reality, I think they make them up. If they don't they need to fix the algorithm that calculates them.
If they base next year's premium on these scores then it's a waste of time.
Random Numbers
This company just seem to pull random driving scores out of thin air. I work pretty much the same shifts every week - drive the same route with little change. I also work evenings and the majority of my route is on a fairly quiet motorway. Every week the scores change - they've even said my gear-changing has improved.... I drive an AUTOMATIC!! Basically a complete con. I contacted them to tell them this, and was just sent another list of what they expect from drivers - no customer service to answer my query. Can't wait to be rid of them!!

I believe the only way you gonna achieve more than 20 points is if you keep your car in the underground garage. Bell insurance is not worth your time nor money.

I would rather not give any stars. What an absolute joke of a company, I stopped the auto renewal and they still took the payment and now it’s a fight to get my money back even though I have the cancellation letter that was posted to me. Then conveniently the recorded telephone conversation they cannot hear the conversations!!! More like they don’t want to admit that they are in the wrong, anyway I have a dated cancellation letter posted to my address with proof of no claims. And to top it all off Every conversation has lasted over 45 minutes as they are incompetent. Admiral do yourself a favour and drop this as a sister company or train your staff and do not allow them to use a telephone until they are competent and that includes managers, as it was one of the managers that completely F**ked it up!!! As much use as a chocolate teapot!

AVOID! This black box is a joke! I had a bb with my previous insurer & my driving score was constantly 99/100. With Bell my score is 17/100…due to where I drive (in my city from my home to my kids schools) & the times that I drive (only for my school runs!) According to the bb data this is awful! They also clam I have done nearly 1000 miles in 2 months. I’ve had the car for 5 years & I’ve not driven 5000 miles in all that times! I wish I would have read the reviews before I took out the policy. I know they’re about to tell me that they are putting the price up so I will be cancelling.

Took out Car Insurance, discounted by having a black box. Each week the driving score came though, I always got low marks for time of night I drove, and the type of roads, but good for quality of driving. After 4 months they have just asked for black box to be returned, and all is well. I have not tried making a claim, but everything else is fine. The black box is fine, we just drove normally and did not worry about it, of course if your a reckless driver then perhaps the black box is not for you!

This company is the worst nightmare if you have insured your car with them and you have a accident. They literally don’t want to fixed your car and they are laying to you every time you call them to claim what you literally pay every month. Please don’t insure your car with them.From me they have zero stars.
