One hour and 35 minutes no answer, what a joke.
Inaccurate
Cheap insurance but black box is so inaccurate its criminal that they use it to evaluate how safe you are at driving. It consistently says I'm a hesitant driver which I most certainly am not. They provide no actual advice on how to improve your driving score - just generic lies that are unhelpful. When you live in London you're stuck in traffic most the time that involves a lot of stops and starts, maybe that is a better explanation than using the word 'hesitant'.
It lures you in with good quotes
It lures you in with good quotes to then find out you have to have a plug and drive device .... Very bad customer service, would avoid at all cost

Had an amazing costumer service from David, changing my address and miles usage was quicker and easier than I expected it!
Setting up my insurance was also super quick and easy on their website. Plug and drive arrived on the post and was easy to install. So far so good!

I got insured with them in short notice whilst purchasing a car, my wife was sorting it out and did not notice the plug n drive box. they put themselves at top of cheapest insurers to lure you in,
Soon as i received an email to get stitched up with a black box i called to cancelled immediatly.
they ask why i was cancelling, i said because im not having a black box fitted to my car, i found it insulting. I told them im not 17 years old and your not collecting any data from me.
They charged me £25 to cancel in less than 14 days, but it was worth it to get away.
i got insured with elephant with no black box for £80 less. profit.
Also, i spoken to two people and i had a hard time understanding what they was saying. I don't think English is their 1st language.
They penalise you for working
Do not use bell insurance if you have to drive for work. My driving scores were constantly low due to ‘excessive driving’- I have driven 6000 miles this year mainly for my job as a community midwife, which they were aware of at the start of the policy as I have business mileage insurance. When coming to renew the price was £200 more than I paid last year even with another years no claims! I found the whole experience stressful and feel it is wrong to penalise drivers based on their work mileage.

I have used them for this current year and they insisted I kept in their plug and go machine all the time and it has now been 8 months - although their terms said "up to 6 months". They are now saying that because I havent done sufficient mileage - surprise we are in a lockdown and I am shielding- I have to keep it on and I had a message on my dashboard saying there was a slow trickle from the cars battery. So to keep my car battery going I have to take the car for a drive every week or so to keep it running. I have told them and they dont want to know and deny everything. Be warned - they are not a customer friendly service.
Worst customer service ever
Worst customer service ever. They wrote and emailed to me mid policy asking for documents to validate my insurance. The email went in my spam and it was mid COVID when post was not arriving on time. I received a second letter (the day after the first but dated 1 week apart). I got round to answering them on day 14 from the original leter date and received an email back basically saying f off, too late, the policy had already been cancelled.
Great phone service
After looking on go compare and finding this insurance the cheapest for me, I gave them a call. They were able to pull across the quote and discussed other options with me too. I spoke with Tim and he was extremely helpful and very friendly, couldn’t have been more so!! He told me all my options and tried to get me the cheapest deal with admiral. Great customer service over the phone!!!
I would not recommend buying into this…
I would not recommend buying into this insurance. I had the Plug in and Drive Black Box and it was very unreliable. Data from the telematics team fed back that it has been unplugged for periods of time and was not connected when in fact it was!
It resulted, unfairly, in a cancellation of the policy. Lots of room for human error using their Plug-in black box. My word against theirs.
You are also unable to use any satnav that requires the cigarette port a the same time as using the black box.
Don't waste your time or your money!
Be carefull not reliable firm
No good service at all when renewal due you need to check everything on your policy AGAIN if you don t they will charge you more accidentlly ? Of course you will say this is not my fault and expecting some refund from that point they wouldn't pay you. Don t use that box if they send you one ,wasting your time THERE IS NO DISCOUNT
I would like to express my deepest…
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Bell/Admiral members of the emergency cover/claims department. The stress that I have to go through with an accident related to black ice/icy weather in December 2020 is alleviated through the empathy by the staff and the efficiency from the claims department. I hope I could apply another car insurance with Bell/Admiral group once I had another car. Once again, please accept my sincere gratitude!

The worst insurance company ever do not use there black box system it is hopeless and then they take away your discount even if the box is fitted, customer service non existent, can’t wait to get away! Do not use!!!!!

Had a black box with Bell and the customer service is brilliant. I had to replace my windscreen and they sorted it quickly, I also spoke to Chris Round who is part of the team and he was very polite and quick to answer queries! Thank You!
Not worth the hassle
Not worth the hassle. Had a crash with them and resulted in having to call over 50 times and speak to a mountain of different people none of whom communicate with eachother or log what has been said on the system. Costs a fortune in phone calls. Policy finally came to an end and I asked multiple times what to do with the black box and was told to ‘just throw it away’ which I found bizzarre. I looked online and saw reviews of a charge of the black box hadn’t been returned so checked on the phone and was further reassured I would not be charged and to throw. Low and behold a month later I receive an email telling me I’ll be charged £50 for the black box not being returned. Whatever you do, don’t throw the box. Absolute scammers.
Black box bull
You can’t get a good score on this during last lockdown nov / dec car as done less than 10 miles a day and been driven by me not my son ,no heavy braking ,correct speeds etc and still poor scores can’t wait to see what happens at renewal time.
If you are already with bell call them to get better renewal rate
I have been with bell for over 3 years now. Their renewal quote is normally high. However, as soon as you call them they reduce ot down further (just say you found it 50£ cheaper on the market).
This year the premium was lowered by at least 100£ more than on the comparison sites.
Thankfully I don’t have the black box as suggested by some other customers. So all good.
Just make sure to call them for renewal quote (don’t rely on the one they generate on automatically). I am sure they will match and better it.
Good customer service
Good customer service, no issue to cancel the policy. The whole policy is managed online and is straightforward (except policy cancellation). Minus one star for the 25 GBP fee to amend the policy holder address.
