Terrible customer service and no consideration for people with different learning needs
Terrible customer service and no consideration for people with different learning needs
I am writing this as a parent after what has been a very frustrating and disappointing experience with Barry Georgiou Education LTD.
My son purchased this program a few days ago under the impression that it included some level of one-on-one coaching alongside the training. This was not a casual decision; he made it based on what he believed would be guided support after watching his videos on YouTube, which is essential for him because he has dyslexia and does not learn effectively through passive video content.
Only after payment did it become clear that the program is primarily video-based, and that any meaningful one-on-one support requires paying significantly more on top of what he had already spent. In simple terms, the only “solution” being offered to him now is to pay even more money, which we simply cannot afford.
To be clear: my son did not access the course, did not watch the videos, and raised his concerns immediately after purchase. Despite this, his refund request was refused outright under a strict no-refund policy.
Instead of any flexibility or alternative solution, the options presented to him were to continue with the video material or pay substantially more for one-on-one coaching, which is way outside our budget. This places him in a position where he must either continue with a format he cannot learn from, commit to additional high costs, or lose the money entirely.
As a family, this is extremely concerning. The nature of the program was not clearly understood before payment, and yet there is no willingness to resolve the situation fairly, even when the service has not been used.
To make matters worse, my son went through significant difficulty to raise this money, including using part of his student loan. In our situation, $500 is not a trivial amount; it is a serious financial setback.
I want to be fair and say that I do not believe this is a fraudulent business. However, I do believe the way this situation has been handled lacks consideration and flexibility, especially for individuals who cannot learn effectively under this type of format.
My son has now found a coach who can work with his condition and provide the one-on-one support he needed from the beginning, and is within our budget. And they still won't issue a refund or find a way to work with him. All they are asking for is more money, and we made it clear we don't have that kind of money.
I am sharing this so that others, especially those with specific learning needs, fully understand exactly what they are paying for. Because once payment is made, you may find yourself in a position where your only option is to either accept a product you cannot use, forfeit the money, or pay significantly more.
This has been a very costly lesson for our family, and I sincerely hope others do not find themselves in the same situation.
