Independent testing within the research supply industry has shown that certain low-cost products may not always meet their labeled specifications when analyzed, including inconsistencies in benzyl alcohol content or products that are simply sterile water rather than properly formulated bacteriostatic water.
Regarding the 30-day discard guidance, this is a commonly referenced handling standard for sterile laboratory materials once a vial has been punctured. This recommendation reflects established sterility and handling practices rather than the total amount of solution remaining in the vial.
We appreciate the feedback and remain committed to providing reliable, high-quality materials for the research community.
