As someone whose first language is not English, I have never had the confidence to explore the American art market or collaborate with a U.S.-based professional team—until now.
It was your proactive outreach after seeing me in the Zoom meeting that gave me the courage to make a quick decision. Deep down, I knew I could not break through on my own. I needed help, and I’m so glad I admitted that and took this step.
What surprised and impressed me most is the quality of your team: a group of young professionals who are not only skilled and knowledgeable but also incredibly kind, encouraging, and dedicated. From the sales staff to the website building process, and throughout each Zoom session, I consistently encountered people who were truly outstanding in their roles.

I joined with high hopes for marketing my artwork. I soon realized that learning how to use the platform was quite challenging for me and was actually geared towards making prints and products rather than selling original art. It was hard to get help. I sat through multiple online meetings and the moderator allowed some people to take up loads of time, leaving me and others without an opportunity to ask questions. Also, I work so the times were not possible for me. I hung with ASF for many years thinking eventually I would have time to learn how to use it effectively but that never happened and I never made a sale. I’m sure it’s possible to sell through ASF but it would take just as much time and effort as doing it on your own. Really didn’t fit with the feeling and intention of my art.

THEY never let me down!
Art Storefronts Support Team never lets me down in four years. Today, Ansel tipped the charts by resizing an image and uploading it to my Warehouse. All my paintings are professionally photographed; however, this time I asked my photographer to combine two paintings into one jpeg. It was just a tad too large, and I couldn't upload it, and didn't know why. Ansel solved the problem in less than 10 minutes. Yay!

I have been a member for a few years but haven't gotten my you-know-what together until recently. It is such a relief to have a site that will automatically do so much! The only problem is FINDING the page that tells you how to do such-and-such minutiae, but once you do find it (customer service will help with that) you can bookmark it. I started out with prints and am now expanding to offer original paintings from those prints. Their systems keep things separate for sales but together for marketing. So convenient!

For five years, I operated my online art store with Art Storefronts, investing over $2,000 initially in 2020, followed by a $59 monthly fee. Like many artists, I was drawn in by promises of marketing guidance. However, after transitioning to Shopify, I gained a clear perspective on just how limiting and inefficient Art Storefronts truly was.
The Marketing Mismatch
Art Storefronts did offer marketing advice, but it felt inconsistent and often misguided. They notably downplayed the importance of SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Consequently, without independent efforts, my site was virtually invisible, often buried beyond the eighth page of Google search results. Their primary marketing push centered around free giveaways to build email lists. In my experience, this approach yielded little fruit, with nearly 90% of recipients never opening subsequent emails. It felt like a "throw spaghetti at the wall" strategy, hoping something would stick rather than a targeted approach to reach genuine buyers.
Print Quality and Pricing Woes
The integrated print houses Art Storefronts connected me with were consistently subpar in quality and excessively expensive. This forced me to price my artwork exorbitantly just to maintain a profit, making my products unaffordable for many potential customers.
An Outdated and Frustrating Platform
Setting up my website's backend on Art Storefronts was a three-month ordeal due to its outdated and illogical interface. Customizing templates was a bureaucratic nightmare; every small change required submitting a ticket and waiting days for it to be implemented. I also encountered persistent issues like print size templates spontaneously changing on my website. When I needed customer support, I often faced language barriers or had to endure days-long waits for an email response.
The Fear of Change and the Reality of Freedom
I admit, I was hesitant to leave Art Storefronts due to the initial financial investment and the fear of an even worse experience. However, I strongly advise anyone considering them to thoroughly research other users' experiences, weighing the pros and cons carefully.
Even now, after deciding to leave, canceling my subscription has been a week-long struggle. Despite my repeated polite refusals to their continuous new offers, my account remains active.
Beyond Their Offerings: True Art Marketing
Art Storefronts heavily promoted features like AI art tools and marketing "how-to's." The irony is that much of what they offered can be found for free elsewhere, and often, it's more effective and meaningful. True art marketing, in my experience, isn't about constant free giveaways or discounts. It's about genuinely connecting with people, understanding their interests and passions. When that alignment happens, sales follow naturally.
The Shopify Difference
My move to Shopify was a revelation. What took me three months to accomplish on Art Storefronts—setting up all my products, descriptions, email integrations, SEO, contacts, and social media integrations—I completed in just one week on Shopify.
Now, with my online store seamlessly operating, I can finally do what I love most: paint.

I was working on my website on a Saturday. I decided to ask a question to their AI response system. I couldn't believe that I got a live person to respond to my question and fix my problem on a weekend. Way to go Art Storefronts!
