Brilliant class
My son has absolutely loved his evening and holiday classes at art-K in Oxford. Louisa is lovely, always smiling and brilliant at helping the children create work they feel really proud off. It is the only activity that my son always asks me to book.

It’s been a pleasure to teach L so far! He always makes us smile. We are so pleased to hear that he is enjoying his sessions with us and look forward to helping him with his future projects!

A disappointing experience
Website has insufficient detail on what will be offered to participants and includes no information about supervisors' qualifications. Sloppy meeting and greeting procedure and absolutely no proper handover of children at the end. 6 to 16 too wide an age range to deal with in one class. Two hours insufficient for real creativity. Mixing of children present for the week and those attending for just one session unlikely to be manageable. End products just satisfactory for 6 year old; totally inadequate for 8 year old who produced work of that standard two years ago. Very disappointing and extremely expensive.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us and we are sorry that you were disappointed with your experience. As we have a wide age range, we have a wide choice of projects for students to pick from. All parents are welcome into the studio at pickup to view what everyone has done. We're always supporting students' choices and help students make the most of their decision; the jellyfish that your children created we thought were very accomplished. Initially they struggled with the outline (which is to do with proportions and perspective) so we worked hard with them to improve it. They also were learning how to use the brush; we could see they learnt and improved their painting skill in the class from where they started. No matter what stage children are at, we are always positive about the specific steps they learn because building children's confidence is a key part of our Ofsted registration.
We are Ofsted registered which means child safeguarding is our number 1 priority. We know and recorded for instance that it was not the parent but the children's grandparent that dropped them off and the same individual picked them up. Whilst we asked all guardians to come in and discuss what their children had created, they did not want to and simply picked up the children. We follow every discount supported by the government; by registering with Ofsted, we can accept childcare vouchers which reduces the price by 20% and for parents on UC, up to 85% off.
We wish your children every happiness in exploring their artistic creations! If you'd like to discuss options for booking again- please write to customerservice@art-k.co.uk.
Fantastic weekly art classes

Oxford’s teachers care equally about art & the children they teach
The teachers are enthusiastic and their encouragement is rewarded by the art the children produce.

Hi Joshua,
Thanks for taking the time to right a review!
It’s been a pleasure to welcome L at art-K this term! We absolutely loved her clay tile design and the house she built on top of it. The little doormat that says “home” is so sweet. We are looking forward to welcoming her back next term and developing her painting skills with an acrylic painting canvas.
Warm wishes,
Lou

Thank you for your review of the trial session. During the trial, we take care to help students focus to get the most out of the session, but if they walk around the studio despite our efforts, it’s an expression we respect that says they don’t want to engage with this art-skills programme. We're sorry this didn't work out for us this time, but we welcome everyone to a trial and we frequently find that children love art and the colourful and engaging projects we provide. Behaviour policy is published on home page.
Camilla age 6 loved her two full days at art-K. She made a fab clay horse looking out of an stable and was very proud of it.

Very Good art class
The teacher and assistant are very cheerful and encouraging. My son enjoys his art lessons, and is bringing home some really beautifully colourful pieces. I also like that the art projects are fewer and more complex, meaning my son gets to work on different art methods without having to bring home many different projects.

It’s been a pleasure to teach O and see his art skills develop. We have enjoyed supporting his ideas and he has shown a talent with clay and sculpture. We loved his unique idea to sculpt extinct Belemnites and Ammonites for his clay board this summer holiday! It gave us some ideas for new projects and it is always special when a student inspires us. We look forward to teaching O next term and seeing what he makes next!
Best wishes,
Lou

She has made beautiful, quality work and has shown that she is always willing to challenge herself with technical approaches. We were so pleased when she enrolled for the term and are looking forward to seeing what lizard sculpture resolved.
