The arena brand was created by sports visionary Horst Dassler, son of the Adidas founder and President of Adidas France. During the 1972 Munich Summer Games, Dassler was on the pool deck when Mark Spitz won his historic 7 gold medals.
Dassler, along with the rest of the world, found himself in awe because not only was Spitz the first athlete to win 7 golds in one Olympiad, but at the same time he set 7 new world records. Dassler immediately started forming plans for a swimwear company dedicated to aquatic sports and created the new performance swimwear brand known today as arena.
In 1973, just one year after the Games, arena launched its first competition swimwear line with the introduction of Skinfit®. Skinfit was known in the industry as a “technological pearl.” The new ultra-light fabric only weighed 18 grams and was designed to cling to a swimmer’s body like a “second skin.”
The following year, arena signed the first female sponsorship agreement with Australian swimmer Shane Gould. Gould was the “Female Spitz” of the 1972 Munich Games, winning 5 individual Olympic medals. Working in collaboration with Gould, in 1974 arena developed the Shane Gould Female Swimsuit Collection.
Dassler knew sports sponsoring was key to the brand’s success, so in preparation for the next Olympics arena started signing other individual athletes who could provide feedback to the design and development of new products, plus at the same time generate excitement for aquatic sports. By 1976, arena athletes and products were ready for the Olympic Games in Montreal. Members of the original arena Elite Team included such world champions as Mark Spitz (USA), Novella Calligaris (ITA), Steve Furniss (USA), David Wilke (UK), Shirley Babashoff (USA), Gary Hall (USA), Klaus Dibiasi (ITA), Ulrika Knape (SWE) and Maxine “Miki” King (USA). arena’s Elite were equipped with arena’s first line of swim caps and goggles designed specifically to meet the needs of high level competitors.
The hard work that both the athletes and arena put into preparing for the Montreal Olympics paid off and the arena Elite Team won an astonishing 44 Olympic medals. Two years later, at the West Berlin World Swimming Championships athletes wearing arena won a total of 62 medals, nearly 75% of the total medal count, and broke 9 world records. Members of the original team went on to set a total of 83 world records.

Complaint on Sport Swimming Bra product quality
Promptly feedback after wearing Swimming Sport bra
(bought on 19/8/2026; *205000880674; price THB1,680) was surprised me in non-standard specification (poor quality of needlework/defect sewing on some part of elastic bra around chest) which I have already provided the compliant feedback to in-charge Sales at "The Mall Department Store; located in Thailand" today after I found non-proper sewing standard on the right of body elastic of that Sport Bra. In Charge Sales person named "Boat" (at The Mall) called me and also aware that some units have some problems and she will verify and recheck immediately with factory. I asked her that this was the defecting products as it promoted for 30% discount on shelf. She said it was newly produced for discount products for sales; not having any defects at all.
**Would you please to make sure that if the local factory for this product may not have capability to produce the global standard quality? I really trust in Arena Brand and choose this brand for my #1 of Swimming wear and will definitely do it forever. Please keep trust for customers as your global brands' goal. Non-standard products were really disappointed customer's feeling so much and also affected my trust to your brand. It may come from my mistake to recheck carefully in every ankle of swimming wear as I bought many products from your brand on that day and this is the last product that I try very fast. With my learning experience of your brand, I really confident Arena Products especially I choose to buy at your stand-alone shop at the Top Department Store in Thailand.
With this experience; I will not complain with my front sales at Shop (Khun Noi) as she is very good person and take care me long time of Arena Brands and sold me more than 30 pieces of your brands. I really appreciated her as she remembers my all my sizes of swimming wears, goggles and cap and always give sincerely feedback to me after I try the products upon my requests. By this case, I called her immediately once I found the problem and she intentionally listened to me and also check the same product on the shelf and found the same problem in another unit as well. She asked me to write the comment and she directly passed through the in-charge Sales (named "Boat") as aforementioned who just called me today. Though I haven't got the sincerely apologize from Khun Boat. But I appreciated that she called me and guarantee to recheck and verify all products with factory and will bring back if it was proof for non-standard spec. She proposed me to bring this non-standard spec to change the new one after I asked her what's the next step? I said I will return this one and if I buy the new one (higher price than this), I will pay the different price.
Lastly, As global trusted standard swimming wear brand, please carefully ensure your team to recheck the products with global standard QA (Quality Assurance) before launching new products to the shelf. Thank you in advance and I still be your product loyalty forever. Next time, I will carefully check and may choose to buy the import Arena Swimming wear instead of local factory!

Klantenservice ver onder de maat
Zwemkleding besteld, maar ze gebruiken GLS als leverancier. Dat is altijd drama en ik zou er een webshop niet op afrekenen als je service model daarna in orde is. Dat is niet het geval bij Arena. GLS en ik weten al bijna een week dat het niet bezorgd is. De bezorger is er zelfs voor terug geweest en de camera beelden zijn bekeken en geverifieerd. Arena staat erop dat ze eerst een onderzoek starten, bijna een week na constatering van het probleem. Dat onderzoek duurt incl. weekend ook minimaal 9 dagen.
De verantwoordelijkheid van degelijke levering licht bij de leverancier en de bewijsplicht ook, er kan geen sluitend bewijs voor levering geleverd worden, terwijl andersom duidelijk bewezen is dat het niet is bezorgd. Het is dan on acceptabel om dan zulke trage service te leveren.
Let goed op als je hier besteld, dat als er iets fout gaat je gewoon héél lang moet wachten voordat je iets geregeld krijgt. Jammer en niet A-merk waardig.
