I am extremely disappointed with the service I have received from Allianz Travel Insurance during what has been a genuinely distressing medical situation.
Following a serious accident abroad resulting in multiple facial fractures, I contacted Allianz for urgent medical assistance. Despite the severity of the situation, there was a consistent failure to respond to emails in a timely manner, including those clearly marked as urgent. At a time when clear communication is critical, following a significant head injury, the lack of responsiveness added significant and unnecessary stress, anxiety and upset.
There was also a complete failure to organise appropriate and promised follow-up care. I was advised that appointments would be arranged ASAP, yet no action was taken, leaving me to chase repeatedly while dealing with pain, uncertainty, anxiety and the practical challenges of being stranded overseas following a head injury.
There was also a complete lack of support in ensuring safe and appropriate accommodation. My hotel booking was due to expire, and despite being told I was not fit to fly, no arrangements were made to extend my stay. This left me in an unacceptable position - medically vulnerable, abroad, and without confirmed accommodation.
Overall, the experience has been one of poor communication, lack of coordination, and a failure to provide the level of support you would reasonably expect from a travel insurer in a medical emergency.
I would strongly advise others to consider carefully before relying on this service.
