SELLER BEWARE
I’m sharing a recent seller experience with Afternic that raises serious concerns about process transparency, customer engagement, and overall platform accountability.
I listed a small portion of my domain portfolio with Afternic as a test, based on GoDaddy’s recommendation to use their partner to expand visibility. Given my positive, longstanding experience with GoDaddy brokers, I expected a similar level of seller engagement and professionalism. That was not the case.
A domain of mine was sold at a materially below-market price without any prior outreach to confirm or negotiate terms. The first notice I received indicated the sale had already been completed and required immediate transfer—eliminating any meaningful opportunity for seller input.
Compounding the issue, initial communications were not reliably delivered, and subsequent attempts to contact Afternic through the channels they provided were unsuccessful.
Phone numbers did not connect to appropriate representatives or allow for voicemail, leaving no clear path to resolve the matter in real time.
When I eventually responded in writing on their portal, I proposed reasonable solutions. Either: adjust the sale price (which Afternic itself valued significantly higher), revise their commission, or complete the deal through proper broker engagement. None of these options were meaningfully considered. Instead, the transaction was canceled and reframed as a “seller failure.”
This experience highlights broader concerns about how Afternic manages seller relationships. Domain owners are the foundation of their marketplace, yet this case reflects a lack of direct engagement, limited transparency in transaction mechanics, and inadequate seller support when issues arise.
For sellers with valuable domain portfolios—particularly those accustomed to broker-led transactions—this raises important questions about how trust is established and maintained on this platform.
Greater clarity, accessibility, and alignment with industry-standard practices would significantly improve confidence in Afternic’s marketplace.
Until those gaps are addressed, I would urge sellers to proceed with caution, carefully review their listing settings, and fully understand the level of control they may be relinquishing when participating in the Afternic network.

Afternic has become a digital graveyard for domain investors. They are currently withholding my verified payout [ noatod17 ] for weeks without a single logical explanation.
Support managers like 'John' operate on a 'scripted silence' frequency, providing zero value while the company keeps the interest on users' capital. If you enjoy your money being held hostage by a decaying corporate machine that ignores verified documentation, this is the place for you.
For everyone else: Stay away. I have already escalated this to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and initiated a public exposure campaign on X (Twitter). This isn't just a delay; it's a display of professional incompetence.
FIX MY STATUS TO OR CONTINUE WATCHING YOUR RATING SINK.
UPDATE April 9th: Joe from Afternic replied with the same 'need more info' tactic. Let me be clear: You have the domain (everydayfinest.com), you have the confirmed payout amount ($32.50), and you have your own fraudulent email from Dec 29th for 10.27 EUR.
STOP ASKING FOR INFO AND START ISSUING THE PAYMENT.
My BBB complaint is updated with your latest attempt to hide your emails in my spam folder. The 'Fee Scam' is documented. Status: STILL NOT PAID.

Afternic is really amazing. It is your go-to platform if you want a reliable and seamless way to sell your domains globally, with responsive support and a smooth payout process
Good afternoon, I was scammed on this website. I legally sold a domain for $1,250, but the platform told me they would only pay out $850. I’ve been waiting for that money for over a month now. Don’t deal with this platform—they’re scammers!!!

I sold a domain through Afternic and everyone dealt with was very professional, looking at you Pavel from Support.
I would give this review 5 stars however the emails I received informing me of a sale seemed somewhat like spam and had an element of social engineering. Even logging into GoDaddy didn’t reflect any required action I needed to take on my part.
My recommendation if you receive any notification of a domain sale by AfterNic and your domain registrar is GoDaddy, navigate directly to AfterNic and use yourGoDaddy credentials to log into their site. Any status update regarding any of your domain products will be clearly displayed.
Even though their commission is steep the entire transaction was smooth.

Being new to all this online technology of course I ran into issues. I thought I'd reach out to support for some guidance. Not only did they respond quickly but laid out every step that was needed to resolve my problem and gave extra scenarios "incase" different situations might have arose. Their first steps resolved everything. I know I've just started but I'm so happy I chose to deal with Afternic.

I dealt with Elizaveta and she was fantastic! I am not a seasoned vet when it comes to selling domains and she taught me more during a brief conversation than I have learned over the last number of months. If you have to call for support, make sure you ask for Elizaveta. As far as GoDaddy and Afternic are concerned, I can't comment one way or the other because I have not got to a negotiation or closing stage. I will say their 4/23 GoDaddy price needs to be updated to 2026 and, with time, hopefully their AI tool won't have so many huge swings. That goes for all AI valuation tools, however, they give someone like me a starting point.
Afternic is a scam. I've been a customer of Godaddy for almost 10 years and have purchased many domains through Godaddy. I listed one for sale 3 years ago that was valued at $3000. This was through the Godaddy marketplace in 2023 and it was without an agent's assistance, as it was a direct sale listing (meaning the potential buyer can negotiate the sale directly with me, the seller). I want to reiterate that I had never heard of Afternic until a week ago when I was notified over the weekend by a strange email that my domain had sold for $3000 and was in the process of being transferred. The next day I got another email confirming that the transfer had completed. When I looked into the sale details, it stated a 30% commission, so instead of getting paid $3000, I was to only get paid 2100? I immediately thought that this was a scam or phishing email and made numerous calls to Godaddy support. Finally after days of trying to reach somebody I was able to speak to a supervisor who told me that at the time when I listed the domain (2023) Afternic wasn't being used as a third party affiliate for domain sales. That transition occurred fully about a year ago. So suddenly without any notice, my domain sale went from a direct sale/no commission to all-of-a-sudden having a 30% commission fee and magically selling. There were no emails notifications nor anything in writing from Godaddy nor Afternic. So not only did they take almost a $1000 commission without my approval, my domain sold well under the Godaddy valued amount. This is criminal. On top of that, it took me five days to finally get in touch with someone from Afternic as Godaddy management kept giving me wrong mails and wrong phone numbers to reach Afternic. Even Afternic's own web page gives incorrect contact information. The manager that called me back admitted that likely the selling policies for domains had changed in the last year but that it is my responsibility to continue looking at the agreement and contract for changes. That is another legal fallacy. If terms and conditions are changed in a contractual agreement, it's up to the the main party, in this case Godaddy, to inform me of such and they never did. I will be filing a claim in small claims court and I'm also going to be notifying the Better Business Bureau. I will also be leaving this review under Godaddy, as they're the parent company and know exactly what they're doing in this scenario. Also, it's been 10 days (7 business days) so where's the payment? Afternic received the funds from the buyer almost immediately. Why am I waiting weeks for the funds? When I call I'm told I have to wait 24-72 hours just to speak to a supervisor (call back) and there's nothing that the agent can do to help. This does NOT feel legit.

I had an excellent conversation with the Afternic agent! They were friendly, knowledgeable, and provided clear, step-by-step guidelines along with thorough explanations that made everything easy to understand. This was a top-notch experience—thank you!
Paid, not delivered, refund withheld for yearsI paid Afternic/GoDaddy $1,500 for a domain transaction.
The domain was never delivered.
After that, my money was withheld for years despite repeated written follow-ups and repeated assurances that the refund was being processed. I provided all requested documentation, including tax documentation, and still did not receive verifiable payment execution proof (no initiation confirmation, no reference/trace number) even after a final deadline.
This was a non-delivery transaction followed by prolonged refund failure.
I’m sharing this so others understand the risk and keep complete records of every communication.
If Afternic resolves this fully with confirmed payment, I will update this review.
