We had the most amazing trip organised by Sam Hankss. From the initial phone call to chat about what we wanted from the trip Sam had great recommendations from his own experiences and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. In the preparation for the trip Sam was always happy to email and chat about arrangements or any questions we had as we had not been on safari before.
The trip itself was incredible, the accommodation and hospitality was a highlight, again all thanks to Sam who had picked the perfect locations and places for us to stay.
Couldn’t recommend booking with Africa Odyssey and Sam enough and we will certainly want to book more trips in the future with them!

Sam and the team put together an unforgettable trip for July 2026 where we explored Zimbabwe from two different camps, Vundo camp on the the Zambezi river and Little Makalolo camp. The staff was amazing, the food, the service, the safari guides were all exceptional. This was a travel experience that was on a new level of rugged luxury that allowed us to feel connected to the continent and the wildlife in a real meaningful way and also to the people that were there to see to our stay and provide for our lodging and dining.

Throughout the early stages of our planning for an Africa adventure, Dave was extremely helpful in providing us with useful and insightful suggestions along with some well balanced recommendations. This careful planning to cater for our trip objectives ensured we had a memorable adventure supported by the professional and competent ground services provided locally. I had a fantastic trip to Botswana, curated by Dave Fuller. He had chosen three camps and I spent three nights in each. They were in different areas with two in The Okavango Delta ( Rra Dinare and Splash) and one further north near the Namibia border (Lebala).
From my arrival at Johannesburg airport, where I was met by an agent and led through immigration to the lounge for the layover, to internal flights, camps and jeep rides, I felt thoroughly spoiled and looked after.
The camps are all part of the Kwando group and are so well run with terrific rooms and bathrooms, delicious meals (lots of those) and brilliant knowledgeable guides and spotters.
I have booked through Africa Odyssey in the past and will not hesitate to do so again.

Really appreciate the trip African Odyssey organised for us. We fulfilled a lifelong dream seeing the migration across the Mara in Tanzania and will be forever thankful for the part African Odyssey played in making that happen. Not only that we were both surprised, very positively, by Tanzania. The landscape, in its own way, is stunning, the people generous & friendly and the activities memorable. As well as the game drives, each day kept on giving…..from the migration, to the balloon trip, walking safari and bush dinner all were unforgettable. Even the accommodation perfectly matched the spirit of our trip.

Africa Odyssey were given a strong recommendation by a couple we met on holiday in Sardinia following a discussion about safari holidays to Africa. On our return I made contact with them and arranged an on line chat. Right from the start they were amazing. They listened to what we had to say, made suggestions at to where to go to see what we wanted, no heavy sales pitch or pressure, it was a really comfortable and informative discussion. The contact at Africa Odyssey I spoke to was Sam Hankss and he went away, armed with all the info we had discussed, and returned with quotes for different options for our adventure. It was a very easy choice for us, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Once we had accepted everything ran like clockwork. The communication was brilliant, they always had time to answer any questions we had. Detailed itineraries were sent and an app that had a countdown to our departure but more importantly all the information you would need with regards to tipping, packing, temperatures, visas etc. They even sorted out our international flights for us.
The actual holiday itself was an absolutely fantastic adventure. Considering it was our first time in Africa, we felt totally relaxed and safe in the hands of Africa Odyssey. We were met and guided through all the airports along the way. The 2 camps we stayed at, Ruckamechi and Little Makalolo were amazing. The staff, the food, the accommodation were first class and the guides were something else. On safari nothing is guaranteed, but these guides did everything possible to make sure we were safe and treated to some awesome sightings. Their knowledge of the wildlife and the forna and flora is second to none. From there we finished our adventure at Tongabezi Lodge in Zambia. This is a little piece of paradise, tucked away on the Zambezi river near Victoria Falls. The plan was to relax there, but there was so much to see and do there we couldn’t resist. Helicopter flight, Walk around the falls, a little dip in the Devil’s pool, lunch on Livingstone Island, sunset and sunrise cruises and one last safari to see the White Rhinos. The lodge was top class, so was the food, the staff and the views.
We cannot fault anything on this holiday and that is largely down to Sam and the staff at Africa Odyssey for all their hard work, steering us in the right direction and managing our entire trip. We will forever be in their debt for an adventure we will never forget.

Amelia was so friendly, helpful and accessible throughout the planning of our trip, and on the holiday itself. She fully understood what our family of 4 (2 teenage children) were looking for, discussed options and then put together an itinerary. We had a fantastic time in Tanzania at Selous Impala Camp, despite our luggage being delayed in Heathrow and Nairobi, but again African Odyssey were excellent in working to get these to us. Thank you for some unforgettable memories!

Sam Hankss at Africa Odyssey helped us tailor our first safari in Southern Africa in August 2026. He provided excellent advice on which camps to choose in Botswana and Zambia as well as the related transport/logistics. The camps, guides, staff, accommodation and food were top-notch. Our Kenya safari was a trip of a lifetime. The camps we stayed at were incredible, the locations were beautiful and the whole experience was even better than we imagined. Everything was so well organised while we were there, from the transfers to the camps, and we always felt really well looked after.

It was so nice being able to just enjoy the holiday without having to worry about any of the logistics ourselves.

We had a wonderful trip to the Mara conservancies organised by Sam and Africa Odyssey. Everything was planned and organised perfectly from agreeing the itinerary, meeting us off the plane on arrival into Kenya, all transfers, guiding and dropping us off at the lounge in Nairobi airport on the way home. Sam was great at answering all questions pre-booking and pre-departure. Always available. This is our second trip with Sam and Africa Odyssey and the next one is booked already. Top notch in every way. Highly recommended.

My safari experience in Serengeti National Park was breathtaking. From the planning and organisation beforehand to the logistics on the ground and the lodges and guides - everything went perfectly and seamless. I had travelled to Africa several times before including two previous trips to Tanzania which were all amazing but I never had such a relaxed and smooth experience. Amelia was extremely helpful throughout. Highly recommended!

We had a perfect 2+ week holiday during which we regularly toasted Dave Fuller for compiling it to exactly match our requirements. We wanted sights, animals, exploring and learning about Namibia through a mix of self-drive and organised travel. The local ATI team are also worthy of note for quickly answering a couple of minor questions that came up on WhatsApp. It's not often 5* is the only possible rating, but it is with Dave and Africa Odyssey.

Impeccable service from Africa Odyssey from start to finish. From understanding our requirements and preferences, to tailoring the budget, and all of the logistics during the holiday was seamless. Amazing location and brilliant staff while we were in Kenya. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them and use them again…truly faultless, thank you.

My partner and I just returned from an incredible multi-destination journey across Southern Africa and we can’t thank Africa Odyssey, specifically Sam Hanks, enough for creating such a seamless, unforgettable experience! 

From start to finish, the organisation was impeccable. Every transfer across borders, flight connection and meet-and-greet service with Menzies went off without a single hitch. Having clear, detailed itineraries made navigating local logistics completely stress-free.  The itinerary itself was absolute magic:

Mana Pools (Nyamatusi Camp): Pure wilderness luxury on an all-inclusive stay with fantastic guides and hospitality.

Zambia (Tongabezi Lodge): Staying in the River Cottage right along the river, rhino tracking in Mosi-oa-Tunya and taking a scenic helicopter flight over Victoria Falls were major bucket-list highlights! 

Cape Town (Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel): A perfect finish to our trip. The guided tours of the Cape Peninsula, Table Mountain, Robben Island and whale watching were executed brilliantly with a knowledgeable and highly personable guide.

Knowing we had 24/7 UK emergency contact support alongside exceptional local camp managers gave us complete peace of mind throughout the entire holiday.

We had an unforgettable family safari with Africa Odyssey, and I’m especially grateful to Amelia for helping us plan it with such care. This was a reunion with my dad and two sisters, with all of us coming in from three different countries, so the thoughtful planning really mattered.

When I first reached out, I was considering Tanzania, but when we switched to Kenya, Amelia was immediately on it. She put together exactly the kind of classic safari we were hoping for, with a beautiful mix of comfort, adventure, and extraordinary wildlife.

Amelia was attentive to detail from the beginning. She took time to understand our family’s preferences and needs, including my dad’s mobility concerns, and contacted the camps ahead of time to make sure everything would be manageable and comfortable for him. She was also kind and patient with our many questions, helped accommodate my sister when she joined the trip later, and made sure she felt comfortable traveling while about 20 weeks pregnant.

The operators on the ground in Kenya were excellent. From the moment we landed to the moment we were past security on the way home, we felt genuinely looked after. They walked us through each step, which made the whole trip feel smooth and far less stressful.

We stayed at Elewana Elephant Pepper Camp and Elewana Amboseli Tortilis, and the service across both camps was wonderful. We met many seasoned safari travelers along the way, which only reinforced how well Amelia had matched the itinerary to the kind of trip we wanted.

The wildlife sightings were incredible, including big cats, baby elephants, and one of the great highlights of the trip: meeting Esau, the super tusker. I also celebrated my 30th birthday at camp, and “Jambo Bwana” is still playing in the back of my head. Any small hiccups were handled quickly, and we came home deeply grateful, with photos and memories we will treasure for a lifetime.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Africa Odyssey, and especially Amelia, to anyone planning a safari, particularly if you are new to this kind of travel or unfamiliar with the region. You can trust that you are in expert hands.

The choice of camps and parks was perfect. Each place a unique jewel. Arranging the connections was flawless. We had an exquisite experience throughout. The staff at African Odyssey was knowledgeable and responsive. Five stars!
