Sales process 5 star, car best I've ever owned, but lack of aftersales care means they've lost me as a customer forever.
Love my Countryman to bits, my sales adviser was the best, and thought I'd never own anything else. However, when driver's window mechanism failed, I realised that after sales care is appalling. System is set up to almost block you from speaking to a human - when you do manage, you find that your insecure vehicle can't even be diagnosed for a week & I'm supposed to leave it with them for a full day. Thought I'd be a Mini customer for life, not so now ......... I'm now looking for something from Korea.

I recently purchased a car from Sytner MINI Solihull and I could not be happier with the experience. From start to finish, the service was exceptional.
A very special thank you must go to Ayleshia, who was simply outstanding throughout the process. Her knowledge, clear communication and genuine care made the whole journey smooth and enjoyable. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her – she went above and beyond to ensure I felt fully informed and confident at every stage. She is a true credit to Sytner MINI and an excellent ambassador for the brand.
I would also like to acknowledge the wider team, as every member of staff I encountered was friendly, professional and welcoming. The whole experience felt personal, positive and thoroughly enjoyable.

Regarding the purchase of this car
Regarding the purchase of this car, I would like to convey the following: 1. The salesperson's response at the time of purchase was prompt, polite, and the answers to my questions were clear and very good. 2. However, the engine of the purchased car broke down seven days after receiving it, and it had to be towed away and repaired over three days. Your company did not perform a maintenance inspection before the sale.
Sytner Solihull - No. Cotswold Motors, Cheltenham - Yes.
I visited this garage on the 20th August to test drive and buy a used mini. I found the experience from the first contact the previous week to the last both negative and frustrating.
I had to ring many times to talk about when I could see the car, leave messages which were never returned, fit in with their time schedule which didn’t suit me. But I did want the car so I ignored the warning signs.
Key points from Wednesday:
- The lack of personal greeting and messy waiting area,
- the unasked for sales pitch on various extras,
- the dour sales/account manager, whose soft skills were quite minimal,
- the implacability of the offer on the part-exchange - they made sure I was aware that I didn’t know much, they were the experts,
- the pressurising for me to take HP or PCP rather than accepting I wanted to pay cash. This, particularly, made me uncomfortable. I began to feel bullied and cornered.
- the inability to accommodate the customer - was told I couldn’t have the car on the following Monday, would have to wait until the end of the month. I was feeling that I was an inconvenience.
- I was spending £14000 on a used car but they made sure I knew I had to also pay £25 for a quarter tank of petrol when I came to pick up the car. Really? Mini can’t afford this?
- They made sure I understood that there were other buyers waiting and that I had to agree to buy the car that day.
What a dreadful experience - I chose to walk away.
The next day I went to Cotswold Motor Group - a delightful and positive experience and bought my Mini there and then. A positive warm welcome, a cup of real coffee in a pleasant space, being asked how they could help me, being asked how I would like to pay for the car and accepting my answer, going above and beyond to get the car ready for the following Monday, listening to me and responding - no extra products sales pitch- yay!
