I’m in the service industry and I bought a pair of shoes that maybe lasted 1 month before tearing through the bottom. Terrible product, low quality, swimming in water. Absolutely horrendous. I know this is a stretch but I would like to be reimbursed. Can provide pictures of terrible product. Shame

They helped me by measuring me out and helping me choose the correct size. They were also patient with me as I chose new suits.

Perry Ellis Lost a Customer Over a Defective Shirt and Terrible Customer Service

I’ve purchased many dress shirts over the years, and I can confidently say this has been one of my most disappointing retail experiences.

I recently purchased three shirts from the Perry Ellis Outlet in Allen, Texas. After washing and pressing one of them for the first time, the ink from the dotted pattern began bleeding into other areas of the shirt. The result was a discolored, unwearable shirt. This is something I’ve never experienced with any of my other dress shirts.

What bothered me even more than the product issue was the way Perry Ellis handled my concerns.

I first called the Grapevine location because it was closer to my home. Rather than offering assistance, the employee rudely told me that since I purchased the shirt elsewhere, it wasn’t their problem and I needed to contact the original store.

When I called the Allen location, the experience was no better. The employee immediately suggested that I caused the damage myself and dismissed my concerns. When I asked to speak with a manager or assistant manager, I was told neither was available. I was then given a corporate phone number that I couldn’t reach anyone through.

Hoping someone at the corporate level would care about the customer experience, I sent a detailed email to Perry Ellis customer service explaining the defective shirt, my experiences at both stores, and my request for a refund.

Unfortunately, I received no response.

This was never about the cost of one shirt. It was about standing behind your products, treating customers respectfully, and taking responsibility when something goes wrong.

A simple refund and a little courtesy could have resolved this situation immediately. Instead, Perry Ellis managed to turn a relatively minor product issue into a complete loss of confidence in the brand.

I have no intention of shopping at Perry Ellis again, and based on my experience, I cannot recommend them.

I hope Perry Ellis leadership takes customer service and product quality complaints more seriously in the future.

I ordered mens shirts but my order was canceled because of an overwhelming response. I was told to try to order the merchandise at a later date and would still have the sale prices honored but I needed them for a birthday present and they would have arrived too late.

I’ve always shopped at Perry Ellis and have consistently received exceptional service. However, during my most recent return, I felt unfairly scrutinized.

The employee at checkout inspected every detail of each garment and said the shirts appeared worn and washed. I assured her they were all new and unworn; I simply decided not to keep them, while keeping other items from the same transaction. She continued pointing out details that did not appear problematic, which made the experience uncomfortable.

When I mentioned that every item still had its tags, she replied that tags are easy to remove and reattach. I found that comment both unnecessary and accusatory. I also pointed out that the shirts still had their original long size stickers, yet she continued to question their condition.

She ultimately processed the refund, but this was the first time I have had such an experience. As a longtime customer who owns many items from this brand, I was disappointed. With so many alternatives available, I would rather spend my money where I can feel comfortable returning brand-new merchandise without being made to feel as though I had done something wrong.

The website is easy to use. The clothes are true to size and always quality for your money.
