Shopped in Masala bizarre for ingredients for a thai curry, have been there a few times over the years,massive selection of spices and fresh produce.
What I didn't notice was the parking restrictions despite there being plenty of signs, I just read "parking for Masala bizarre customers only" but in smaller writing it says to register your number plate at the till to avoid a fine.
I got a fine, I didn't have receipts so got the bank to print off statements and copied them to show only the transaction for Masala bizarre.
I took them into the shop with a copy of the fine, straight away they were so helpful and thanked me for coming in. Today I had a cancellation of the fine letter and can't thank them enough. I was worried as I read some bad reviews and was not expecting the service I received.

I used to shop there but never again!
The staff has never been too friendly always rude and last time I went I spent £300 on food and ended up having a £100 fine for using their parking. I gave the ticket to the owner which said he’ll get it sorted 1 year later now I’ve got a Court letter.
I went back and the owner and he said he had recieved a letter back that he had to sign the fine off but he forgot now I have to go to court or pay £270 and he refuses to come to court and said pay it or pay my court fees too. I’m a single mum with 6 young kids.
The owner is there to make money they don’t care about hygiene, clean, safe store or customer service it’s all about how to con vulnerable people.

Visited for the first time today, and the selection was absolutely wonderful. Lots of spices that you wouldn't be able to source in a supermarket and amazing bulk deals.

What soured the experience however, was the butcher. I had placed my order a few minutes before a lady he called "sister" arrived and placed her order. She skipped ahead of me, with the butcher I placed my order with telling me that the other butcher would do my order. After speaking with a Bengali friend of mine about my experience, this is apparently normal behaviour with certain customers / ethnicity's taking priority. I will not visit again.

Went to Masala Bazaar Goodmayes on the 17th May 2025.
The advertised that they were selling chicken leg and drum sticks box for £20
Placed order at the butchers section. He came out with the box and started weighting the box he then took out 4 pieces of drumsticks. When I asked him what he was doing he said this price is for 10kg. I pointed to his printed out price list. This reads "chicken drumsticks/ leg box £19.99". And not 10kg. He said speak to management instead of calling management over to deal with the issue I had to go and find management. When I explained this to them, they didn't want to accept the fault, but then agreed. They then wanted to change it for me. My shopping experience and dealing with them was not pleasant. And I decided to leave with what I had already placed in my shopping basket.
Wanted to place the picture of the advertised price trust pilot wouldn't allow.
Should be reported to the advertising watchdog or trading standards.

I have been shopping at Masala Bazar in Goodmayes Retail Park ever since it opened. Most of the staff have always been polite and helpful. However, I recently had an unpleasant experience on 25/04/2025,I was sold rotten meat and chicken, and when I returned to the store to raise the issue, they insisted there was nothing wrong with the products. Additionally, one of the individuals working at the butcher’s section behaved very poorly. Fortunately, the manager apologised for the incident and provided me with a refund.
My only concern is that I did not see the spoiled products being properly disposed of.

Visited the chadwell heath, romford location recently. Not only are the prices competitive, but the store is large and clean!! Which is refreshing for asian grocery stores. They even had a chai cafe upstairs with great cheap eats. This place feels like a hidden gem and hope to see more of them in london!
