Me and my partner went a few weeks ago on a Sunday. It was very busy so I assumed that it was a good place to buy a car and made the mistake of not reading the reviews first hand.

I wanted to part ex the car for a lovely looking 2018 Qashqai on their website. We came in thinking the car would be on site but was told it was kept in St Albans(?) and that they had requested the car. I didn’t have an appointment so was asking on the off chance. I was brought into a call centre style room and signed the document on my phone for the test drive. I thought this was strange as you can hardly read the small print on your phone. I just brushed it off that they were being modern by having electronic paperwork (but I would have preferred actual paperwork to read through).

The car arrived about an hour after they initially said. We waited outside in the heat for the car to arrive. The salesman came back to save us from the heat and we waited inside. When it did arrive it was very dusty and unwashed. We thought this might have been because we hadn’t booked an appointment. A different salesman arrived to take us for a test drive. Before we left he was told to fill up with £10 worth of petrol and claim this back on expenses. I found this odd at the time as it seemed unprofessional!. I had a test drive up and down the road and the clutch felt a bit stiff but I thought that it might have been because it hadn’t been driven for a little while. The inside of the car was lovely though and I was still excited about it. I told the salesman that I was in between jobs at the moment so the finance would probably be an issue. The last time I got a car they did the finance application online and got me to read through all the T&c’s. He asked what my last payslip said I earned and I told him ( I have been out of work for quite a few months but have a job I am starting in a few months). My initial thinking was to reserve the car and then get the finance sorted when I was working in a few months. He didn’t confirm what company this would be, only that they could it for about 2.5 times the amount I pay on my current finance deal.

We spoke about deposits etc and I said that I would like to put £2,000 on my credit card or use my current car (in a garage being fixed) for the deposit. He told me that they don’t accept credit cards and suggested I move some money from my credit card to my debit card so that I could put a deposit down (even though I wasn’t sure how much part ex I would get from my car).
He sent me a link and said I could pay £500 now and then I would bring my car next weekend for the part ex. I stupidly clicked the link and paid £500 and was led to believe this was as a part deposit and I’d have time to work out how much of a deposit my own car would add to this. Refundable if i changed my mind. I slept on it and realised it wouldn’t be right given my financial situation. He said that he’d speak to his manager. Thankfully the deposit was refunded back to me, so they kept to their word but it required a lot of chasing.
Make sure you run all the paperwork etc through ChatGPT and get an independent inspection done before buying. I would also strongly recommend not buying the extras, it’s how the cars are sold at such a discount.
I saw that there were protests the day before we had gone and if we had seen this, I certainly would have been more cautious or turned around and not visited. Buyer beware.

I brought a low mileage Porsche Macan on 5th June 2026 which had a fault appear with the front near side drive shaft within a few days. They asked me to arrange a quote as I am over 250 miles from them. This was done on 18th June. They didn’t like it so I waited over three weeks for it to be picked up. The driver drove the car into the bump stops when loading and that was 4 weeks ago. It took three weeks for them to attempt the repair and said they couldn’t find the problem so I had to explain the problem which the garage I took it to had it diagnosed and gave them a written quote with report and were able to carry out the repair within 3 days but as they were not happy I had to wait for them to collect. I am now told I have to wait a further 10 days to get it back. From diagnoses to return will be over 8 weeks and it’s only a drive shaft!!! Their sales team sell but after that nothing. Also the service book and invoices from the previous owner have vanished. I was promised them in the post. I wouldn’t buy a peddle car from these people again, it’s no wonder they are called Car Planet as they need to relocate to another planet. So you always find the true colours of a company when something goes wrong, a little something went wrong and we know Porsche parts are not going to be cheap but this company really couldn’t organise a pissup in a brewery. I feel for the staff having to fend off disgruntled customers. The waiting times to call them have varied from 7 minutes to 39 minutes. So buyer beware and do yourself a favour and go somewhere else that has good customer reviews. I will update this if and when I get my car back!!!

I visited Car Planet’s Watford branch in June 2026 to view a BMW. The salesperson, Nour, drove the vehicle during the test drive. I did not take delivery of the vehicle, did not drive it away and decided not to proceed with the purchase.

On the same day, I spoke by telephone with Nour and his manager to confirm that I would not be going ahead with the purchase. I also confirmed this in writing. The £99 holding fee I had paid was refunded two days later.

Despite being reassured that the finance would be cancelled and that there was nothing to worry about, £278.90 was later taken from my bank account by Close Brothers Motor Finance. I immediately contacted my bank, raised a formal complaint and the payment was returned.

As of 3 August 2026, the Close Brothers Motor Finance agreement is still showing as an active account on my credit file, despite me never taking delivery of the vehicle or proceeding with the purchase. This has caused me significant stress, inconvenience and concern about the impact on my credit record.

I have raised formal complaints with Close Brothers Motor Finance and referred the matter to The Motor Ombudsman. I was advised that my complaint would be concluded and confirmed in writing, but I am still awaiting that confirmation.

This review reflects my personal experience. I hope both Car Planet and Close Brothers Motor Finance resolve this matter promptly and ensure other customers do not experience the same issues.

The sales assistant that dealt with me, Daniel, was courteous, very knowledgeable considering he had only been in post for two weeks, and efficient . And for the completion of my purchase Becky was both polite and effecient

Very well organised and customer service - not pushy at all. Although we 90% was likely going to buy the vehicle.
Went on a Sunday was very busy but still managed very well. We found the best deal around car was perfect would recommend this company and would go back

I went into car planer Watford over the weekend and there was some lady advising not to buy due to the reviews. I thought to give car planet a chance as I placed a car on deposit, not a reservatjon . I got there and the car was sold! I travelled one hour and I got no fuel reimbursement. Too make things worse not even the toilets were clean.

Just to let affected customers of car planet Watford Barnet and Enfield know there are 2 support groups regarding issues with car planet trading Ltd aftersales on Facebook, we have now visited outside car planet 3 times to make sure they are aware we are not happy with the way they treat their customers, they don’t follow the consumer rights act 2015 they lie pre purchase and ignore post purchase issues, we the customer are the problem!!!! and if you have a problem they want to ignore you, they state you are racist and call the police as they did yesterday on us all lies fabricated but of course that gets police there quicker than a murder.
That’s how unbothered they are.
So now having spent 14 months exhausting the legal process, I have had to raise to high court for bailiffs to collect and yes you guessed right they ignore courts and judgements too.

We are planning more visits to their businesses just to remind them we are still not happy with how they are treating us all and looking at the recent poor reviews nothing has changed.
Same reviews SAME responses like parrots, but talk a lot of meaningless BS to waste your time deflecting all their issues onto customers.
If buying there GET AN INDEPENDENT INSPECTION DONE FIRST don’t trust their workshop, paperwork or sales team because if you do you get to deal with AFTERSALES and they do not care how their business affects you.
Do your homework on customer issues social media they use to sell is also there to provide another insight as they block anyone that write negatively. I’m fed up sick to my back teeth of them calling me to gloat after I win a CCJ against them asking “WHATS IT GOING TO TAKE TO MAke ALL THIS GO AWAY” turn up to court might help pay what you owe that the out of pocket expenses 14 months has accrued.
They buy cheap sell high and just pass on known issues to customers to maximise their profits.
Calling me a racist is the lowest snakeiest thing they could do to try and insight anger in others in public . They are Disgraceful and reported to ombudsman

Qaim is a very polite salesman and was very helpful BUT the whole experience has left me absolutely frustrated. Spent 5 hrs in the Watford branch 27.7.26 when system crashed. My car was to be delivered next day at 2. Didn’t arrive until after 5, even though i explained I had an appointment at 5 which I had to cancel. No documentation delivered, informed them I needed the new keepers slip as proof of being the new owner, to enable me to obtain my local parking permit, been calling every day for past 6 days and getting passed from pillar to post. Customer service just keep transferring to people who never answer.
Please make you have absolutely every documentation needed before you leave as you may find it beyond impossible to receive it afterwards

They were very professional and very helpful. Went to see a car loved it but the journey was back on a motorway which I can’t do so they offered to drop it off that same day. Definitely will go back in 3 years to swap over for another car.

I just wanted to express my deep disappointment with the lack of professional customer service on your part. I am referring to the Barnet location, where I purchased a car yesterday that was supposed to be delivered to me today following a scheduled service. Unfortunately, neither the service nor the delivery don’t took place due to a lack of responsibility and professionalism in handling me as a customer. Regrettably, I have no choice but to cancel the purchase and report the matter to the Financial Ombudsman regarding the losses I have incurred.

Had a great day at car planet, found the right car, was all done and dusted by the end of the day.

Please do not get fooled by the prices . This company is a complete fraud . I was fooled by the price . They sold me a damage car online without disclosing in June. Promises after promises to pick up and fix the damage . The after sales team lie one after the other . From Cara , ZIyad and Sababa hossain. I’ve been calling them daily and emailing and they ignore . PLEASE AVOID . The Miah Brothers need to sort this out and fear God they are cheating people big time .
