Spring elegance tour

The tour had been very well organized. Everything - airport pickup, hotels, transportation, individual tours, meals, etc - all worked as a well tuned clock. The tour itself was very informative for a first-time Japan visitors like us. We stayed in both traditional and modern hotels. Visited temples, parks and natural wonders. Had been introduced to various traditional foods. Had a chance to visit both touristy places and off-beat locations, which we would have never visited by ourselves. The company organized a meeting with a geisha (actually a geisha-in-training) and a geisha concert - the events we would have never had a chance to have otherwise.
A big part of the tour success definitely belongs to our group leader Steve. He was our mother hen whose job was to worry about a million little things (including constantly counting his chicks to make sure nobody got lost), so our task was much easier - just follow him.
We would happily recommend this tour to middle / above middle age people, both pairs and singles, who are first-time Japan visitors, feel intimidated by a totally different country and want to have worry-free experience there.

A great travel company who arranged a fantastic holiday

Booking and arranging process was really helpful and well put together. Itinerary fitted our needs.Information provided beforehand was excellent. Generally really helpful. Hotels were all well situated and travelling around Japan was a breeze with all train tickets and necessary information provided.

The two outstanding experiences stood…

The two outstanding experiences stood out, decorating chopsticks with gold leaf and the fascinating demonstration of how to make a samurai sword.
However, the whole trip was full of interesting activities, including visiting gardens, a samurai house, an onsen and meeting a trainee geisha. The group leader was very enthusiastic and the small group bonded well.
One thing which I had not taken seriously enough was the amount of walking that would be involved, I was doing between 12,000 and 14,000 steps each day.

Wonderful trip to Japan

Wonderful trip to Japan. We did/saw everything we wanted except finding a Zumba class.

Luckily John was able to follow the train/subway maps as it took us awhile to get to places. Hotels were excellent and all our tour guide were superb. We loved our airport transportation driver, Mr. Akiyama. He was the first and last person we saw in Japan. He was efficient and very knowledgeable and his English to Japanese devise was excellent.

Some of our train reservations were very early in the morning and we wished we had more time to enjoy the areas and not leave right away.

We want to go back to Japan but realize we have to do more planning on our own before we go.

We had questions and it was difficult to get answers from the US advisors through email as the offices were closed. We did get good responses from the what’s app and they immediately responded.

Japan is a beautiful country and the people are so polite.

Hiroshima and the Shimani Kaido

You were veryflexible and attentive in creating an itinerary to meet our needs, which included arranging ebike rentals for a slef gudided tour of the shimaini Kodo and arrainging great places to say along the route, and securing difficult to obtain reservations on museum island.

Listened carefully to our requirements and came up with a relaxed, but memorable bespoke itinerary at very short notice (under 8 weeks). All arrangements were well-chosen and went off very smoothly. All our guides were excellent. Some of the experiences were well out of the ordinary, if not unique. Despite some trepidation we were able to navigate our self-guided tour of Japan without a problem. Some minor timing issues with two of the many transfers, which I didn't notice at time of booking, but we were able to rearrange these ourselves on the ground easily. I would recommend checking these before you book.

Would recommend

Perfectly curated hotels and tours asked on my preferences. Would recommend for anyone afraid to go it alon and just needs logistics taken care of. No issues

Hearing Impaired Beware

I just finished a three week visit to Japan and 2 weeks was part of a tour group offered by Inside Japan Tours. It was so bad that I ended up leaving the tour halfway through to go on my own. As an older solo traveler I was constantly having issues with hearing the guideEverett. He would not put anything in writing and after explaining to him, several times, that I did not hear his instructions he began to treat my questions as an inconvenience. He was extremely disorganized and made spur of the moment plans for the group. After complaining to the tour company he eventually started to use WhatsApp but by that time I was off on my own. This trip was a bucket list experience of a lifetime. ISfter 3 or 4 frustrating interactions I eventually left the group and planned my own tour. The company was sympathetic but the fact is that this disaster cost me several thousand dollars. I would not consider myself handicapped but slightly hearing impaired. The company's indifference to this issue and jack of proactive solutions made leaving the tour the only way forward for me. To be fair, Everett was a substitute guide to replace a regular guide at the last minute but the issues he created for me as a 77 year old solo traveler were inexcusable.

We take great pride in the quality of our tour leaders, so hearing that your experience was impacted by communication issues, lack of clarity, and a feeling of frustration is something we take very seriously. We absolutely recognize that clear, accessible communication is essential — particularly for solo travelers — and I’m sorry that this wasn’t handled with the care and consistency it should have been.

I am glad that our leadership team was able to speak with you directly after your return to fully understand your experience and discuss ways to try to put things right. While that doesn’t undo the disappointment you felt during the trip itself, your feedback has been taken on board and is being used to reinforce expectations around planning, communication, and adaptability when supporting travelers with differing needs.

Inside Japan listened to what I was…

Inside Japan listened to what I was looking for and came up with an itinerary that was very close to what I wanted. After a discussion by phone, they made additional changes that made the itinerary perfect. Or at least as perfect as time and money allowed! They made all the arrangements including hotels, train reservations and private guided tours. The guides were excellent — very knowledgeable and a pleasure to be with. We received a booklet with all of our arrangements and helpful suggestions on how to spend our time. This information was also online. It saved me so much time and kept me from making mistakes.

I would not hesitate to recommend Inside Japan to anyone planning a trip to Japan. They know the country, their customer service is superb, and they are reliable.
