The trip was really well organised, no hitches. Accommodation choices were very good in terms of quality and location. The guides we had were excellent and we were happy with the itinerary.

The Inside Japan itinerary for the self-guided Honshu Hiking tour was easily adapted to include our interests and accommodation expectations, and the whole experience was fantastic. All sorts of details that we wouldn't have thought of were included. It was such an easy holiday to organise, but what a great adventure.

A small international group, that visited some fabulous locations, led by an excellent guide- we had a great holiday!

I have been on four trips with Inside Japan tours. One organised small group and three custom designed trips. I cannot speak more highly of this travel company and will only use them for travel in Japan. Planning the fifth trip now can't wait to get back there.

Inside Japan is not just another tour company. It provides a bespoke experience that is warm, varied and includes must-see places as well as off-the-beaten track. I thoroughly enjoyed my tour.

Everything was seamless in terms of logistics and chosen sites and venues. The guide was knowledgeable, friendly, considerate, and open to consultation regarding non-group activities if they were desired.

Our guide, Akemi was absolutely the best! She very kindly and gently kept a group of 13 on track and on time with seemingly very little effort.
We stayed in some excellent large hotels and some wonderful small, family run ryokans, saw the sights in big cities and small towns, and got to experience several aspects of the amazing Japanese transportation system. A great adventure!

Inside Japan organized an amazing two week trip to Japan for us. Flexible trip offers, easy to contact, happy to answer all our questions, added in some special requests, fantastic information and great on-the-ground support. Highly recommend using them.

From the start you were really helpful in deciding which tour to book. The tour itself was brilliant and met all our expectations. Katsumi our guide was outstanding.

We toured Japan in early November on one of Inside Japan’s Autumn Elegance tours. We had a great experience all round. The booking process was efficient and smooth. Our small group (14) was perfect and we liked the fact that there were free days included in the tour that allowed us to explore independently. The accommodation was very good and our tour guide (Akemi) went above and beyond to ensure that everyone had a good time. We would highly recommend Inside Japan.

We arranged a self-guided, 8-day personalized trip for our family through this company. The travel agent we worked with was very personable, answered questions, provided good advice, and responded quickly to email. We made our first contact in February and by April we had a firm itinerary for a November trip, with all lodging confirmed in May. The quality of the lodging provided was mostly excellent. The only reason we aren't giving five stars is because two nights of our lodging were changed at the last minute, in late October. These new accommodations were not of the same quality as those originally booked, and we were given no options. It was stressful and we were unhappy. We understand that this company must work with a Japanese state agency to make those bookings, so we recommend they figure a way to make this collaboration work better, to avoid last minute changes in established bookings.

Our trip was well planned and Inside Japan were great support.

We had a wonderful trip to Japan with Inside Japan . The guides were great, the support easily accessible, the accommodations were great for the most part.

Our guide did his best, but he was new to this tour. He had inadequate notice, prep time and training. I believe he was a fill-in for someone else who was being trained for the replacement of a long-time tour guide but left the company suddenly. We were in a third string quarterback situation.

We had a fabulous trip to Japan thanks to Chris, who listened to what we wanted to do and added other wonderful experiences. Our tour guides were terrific and so many details were handled for us, including transportation within Japan and wi-fi availability. We would go again in a heartbeat with Inside Japan!

The local guides on the ground were really nice people who were first class at their job. Highly recommended.

This is an active tour, lots of walking. We did one day on our own in Kyoto and walked 10+ miles. Tour guide Michael was fabulous. We did Majestic Japan tour and it was good value for the money. Loved the hotels and airport shuttle service. We dId not get a private Onsen, turns out we needed to book weeks in advance, but did know that. We booked two extra days in Tokyo, and recommend the extra time there.
