The sales team were very friendly and helpful (not to mention patient), and did everything they could to satisfy our requests and make us feel that we were making the right choice of home.
Very happy with new home. I moved into a Matthew Homes house in April 2021 as a first time buyer and after a year I am very pleased with my home. The house is great and the finishes are good quality. There were a couple of snags at the start but MH resolved the issues quickly and overall the buying experience was good. I would recommend Matthew Homes to anyone buying a new home.
DISGUSTED WITH AFTERSALES. In last 24 hours, COST ME ALMOST £1,000.

Multiple problems not niggles, but MAJOR ISSUES.
MY FRONT DOOR BROKE.
I COULD NOT ENTER MY OWN PROPERTY. EVERYTHING I NEEDED WAS INSIDE EVEN MY PHONE.
THE LEAVER MECHANISM FAILED.
NO ANSWER TO EMERGENCY LINE. CONTACT WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS, DOOR FITTED WAS MUNSTER. TOLD IT WAS OVER 2 year warrenty.
I moved in 17 months ago. It was show home so door had been fitted before I moved in.
10 year checkmate warrenty, 2 year Matthew homes warrenty.
Called emergency locksmith, it was 8pm.
No where near as secure now.
COST £284
Came back to fit secure locking system.
Still NO ANSWER TO TWO URGENT EMERGENCY e-mails. Today was £750.
FOUR EMAILS LATER. NOTHING. CANNOT PAY MY BILLS NOW.
Absolutely awful after sales service, shoddy poor workmanship some of the finishes were good, but since I’ve lived here, had to have each wc replumbed, new taps in each en-suite, bathroom and two wcs, only tap of quality is in the kitchen, which has lasted.
Both shower valves went, with hardly any use as I have a bath instead. Plumber I got in told me they used chrome plated plastic! One of the loos started leaking, where it hadn’t been fitted properly in the first place,one kept getting blocked so whole new soil pipe had to be put in and wc totally lifted out,one wouldn’t flush at all after hardly any use and had to have new mechanism. Had five serious leaks altogether, one from my garage roof which they were supposed to have mended years ago, now find out they just patched it up and it’s going to cost me over a thousand to have a whole new roof. Has made the garage damp. Built a wall in front of the second floor windows so as a result they won’t open properly and pose a fire risk, is going to cost a lot of money to have it taken down a few courses,without the costs of the scaffolding!
Had to have new pointing on the side of the roof, where it wasn’t done properly in the first place,thus causing a leak on one of the ceilings. Have had to replace the boiler at a cost of a few thousand, numerous heating repairs and one radiator has never worked, owing to the standard of piping used!
Had to replace the cooker hood as the motor went twice and was never fixed on the wall properly in the first place and used to rattle. All for what was not a cheap home and also is supposed to be a family home with more wear and tear than I have given it being on my own. Planned not very well, not much storage apart from the kitchen and woodwork either painted in gloss or satinwood, some with two coats some with one! Electrics not up to par, can’t use the oven and grill in what was supposed to be a double oven, as it blows the fuse, never used it since I’ve been here! No tap in the back garden when I moved in either. Really shoddy workmanship bodged jobs all over the place and poor excuses from even the directors and after sales service non existent, really unhelpful woman, no common sense at all fobs you off, with poor excuses and answers which I have never heard the likes of in my life! I am not a rude person, but she really tests ones patience and is nothing short of incompetent and has no idea what on earth she is doing. Really clever tactic so that consumers get fed up with contacting her as they get nowhere, so perhaps the company hopes one will eventually give up! My advice would be to buy one that has been owned for several years and all these issues rectified! Oh and no one present at the snagging check either, had to do it by myself. Pretty exhaustive list of issues! Heard every excuse under the sun!
The level of after-sales service is appalling. I reported a broken boiler 3 days ago and have just been told to wait another 48 hours for their contractor to accept the request. Meanwhile no heating or hot water.
This is just one of the issues I’ve been experiencing. For other items on my snag list, I have been waiting for 11 months!! for them to rectify. I have windows which leak vast amounts of cold air, which is in contrast to the energy efficiency rating provided by them. Countless calls and emails and they simply don’t take any action
Lived in my four bed house for a year, love the house, lots space and good sized plot. Great condition. Few minor issues was sorted straight away. Other people I’ve spoke to here said same thing. Perplexed at the bad reviews! We love it!
I purchased a flat from Matthew Homes with a boiler that had an unsealed flue pipe INSIDE the property. This has the potential to pump toxic gases directly into the flat and endanger lives. Not only did Matthew Homes not care nor respond to any correspondence, they actually tried to blame me! Awful culture of avoiding accountability. Would avoid at all costs.
Poor finish to our 5 bed house. Doors blown after being left in the rain throughout the house, was told they ‘couldn’t possibly replace them all’.
Bad flooding in garden, was told that would need to be sorted with our future landscaping.
The garage is so badly finished it’s like rubble, and everything gets covered in dust we can’t put anything in it.
Shower doors fitted wrong. Endless calls to get the company out to fix it, the company said they don’t have the contract to install, so Matthew Homes contractors install them how they think… which is wrong. 🤦🏼♀️
One of our back bedrooms has the stone sill missing and they’ve used bricks instead. No one to contact.
Poor quality homes . Poor finished internals. People turning up and Walking away fixing nothing and never returing when promised. I would advise you to look else where for a new home .
Don't purchase from matthew homes
I have lived here for 22 weeks and I'm still unable to use 2 of the 3 bedrooms because of bad connection they have agreed that the lounge ceiling needs to be ripped out so the floors above can be reworked so the bedrooms can be used then the kitchen ceiling also needs replacing & a large section on the landing these are Major faults. then there are 40 more minor problems such as miss mach paint work, bad drylining, ill fitting patio doors & front door and no date for the works to done even though the guys that built it are still on site.
I'm sorry if this upset anyone already living here but I can no long let matthew homes do this to me or anyone else

Further to those discussions, Matthew Homes have requested Simcott to reattend, investigate why the floors are still creaking and resolve, as they were contracted to do.

I have had to go to trust pilot to help me post a review as Matthew Homes can not be found anywhere on this site, I wish they had shown up before I purchased my property, as I had doubts & seeing some honest reviews would have really helped. Matthew Homes work to the minimal building regulations helped by NHBC that have helped company's like this get away with it, they will tell you that you have a 10 year warranty with NHBC but please be awear it means nothing, they advise that the bad workmanship you see will be fixed before you move in & if it isn't don't panic you are covered by NHBC & we will get this done once you move in. Please be advised it wont be fixed, they will tell you unless you can see it from 2 meters away in the dark its not noticeable so they don't have to fix it, you will see pop nails in every room where they have come loose " due to the settle of the house " its due to the cheapest materials being used & the laziest of contractors, ugly tape joins will show all round your house, you have to look at them & hope in 2 years time when apparently the house has finally settled they might come and re do a few but dont expect them all to be done, you have an aftersales person that is supposed to help but all they do is humor you & tell you they are on it, but never give you dates when things will be done, if you are unlucky enough that you have to work to buy a house defiantly don't buy Matthew Homes as they just have people randomly knock on your door to fix something because they seem to think that mortgages pay themselves, so you have to book weeks off in hope someone might turn up, because they cant arrange dates its complete madness, im now having a breakdown and the only things that have been resolved in my house are things I have reached out to contractors and arranged myself, I don't have a positive thing to say about this company as every person I have dealt with from my first viewing has lied, which is disappointing as I have saved for 15 years to purchase my dream home & I thought this was going to be it but it turns out im wrong, I just want to warn the Bank Holiday viewers not to bother with Matthew Homes sites, go to Bellway its a little more but you get a lot more for your money & quality is priceless
